The2ndMouse Posted March 22, 2004 Share Posted March 22, 2004 3-1 Atromitos had the wind on his side and played the better football in the first half but they have the bad habit of staying back whenever they go ahead as if they play against the leagues favourites no matter the opponent. Apollon did not play that bad in the first half but the strong wind and the lack of technical knowledge by their manager prevented them to take advantage of the Atromitos relaxation after the 1-0. The one time they did not try to send the ball foreward with a free Kick but tried to pass to the defenders and carry the ball foreward they scored thei equaliser! And then again the same tacktical error... long ball which the wind was carrying backwards... I could see it... their manager could not...! In the second half Atromitos should have had the wind against them but ... miraculusly the wind was gone! In addition to their need for the win and the good weather which menat some more support on the stands, they made it 2-1. Of course they too made the same error and opened up the field for Kalythia who tried to equalise but could not really find any reliable offensive solutions to penetrate the Atromitos defence. Late in Injury time and in one of the Atromitos Counter Attacks Atromitos scored their third. Another fact is that Atromitos dominated aerial play and scored their first two goals by headers, while missing another 3 good chances for a higher score including a missed one-on-one attack on the Apollon GK. Great win for survival for Agia Marina. If only Agia Marina themselves would believe they caould survive they would already be higher in the league.
