  1. And the latest news of Giobani, courtesy of Ethnosport:
  2. He is a trusting soul who took seriously all these stories about the European PAO and said to himself: Surely, if year after year I lead OSFP and its cast of useless players to triumphs over such a well known and respected club, I will amass great fame and durable glory! How could he know that, in order to minimize psychic damage, the supporters of PAO would start, compulsively and continuously, badmouthing the worth of the very league in which they participate and the championship they so ardently desire. In the end Gio was victimized by those who claim to be Europeans while walking through life with mental and behavioral
  3. Van Gaal was honoring his fatherland by speaking in what is known as double Dutch. None of his pronouncements should be taken literally.
  4. Bah, it is obvious, to those who believe, that God put in this world beautiful things to be enjoyed. Just read the Genesis where he sees that this and that are good. In addition, the first recorded miracle by Jesus is the water that is transformed in good wine. From all these things we can safely conclude that: - those who refuse to drink commit the sin of pride in spades - those who can and refuse to drink good wine overlook the divine guidance - those who refuse to appreciate the finer things in life are offending God by turning down his gifts, Exactly like those who commit suicide. In particular, those who deny themselves the pleasure of rejoicing when footballers play entertaining, imaginative soccer, have consumed and retained so much partisan poison that everything, including their teams wins, will turn ashes in their mouths. A terrrible, but entirely self inflicted, wound that awaits all those who look at Giovani and refuse to see what he does well. P.S. There are plenty of people who cannot see what is otherwise obvious. Such people cannot comprehend that Diego is the best footballer of all times, ritually repeat Pale-Pele as their minds can retain names of two syllables or fewer, and cannot see any redeeming virtue in the magician's antics. We should be praying for them!
  5. Dave, Thank you for your kind words and for your enthusiasm. Bear in mind though that most of the time we are forced to talk with those who disagree with us. In particular, you should be more generous with Irlandos who has drunk, I am afraid, colossal quantities of bad beer and has lost his taste for the finer things in life, including Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino and, you guessed it, Giovani. Un vero Tedesco di Germania! Kilmanrok, we are in violent agreement. The PAO win against Ajax in Amsterdam is a perfect example of how to beat a stronger opponent. Bear in mind though that the corollary of the theorem I pelted Dave with implies that people who agree have relatively little to talk about! I can already see the oracion at the funeral of Phantis: All of a sudden everyone became reasonable, arguments ceased and along with them all semblance of life!
  6. When did it become useless? Before you posted or after?
  7. I am afraid that nothing is really proven. Soccer is a team sport and at a high level a team scores against another. Gio might have fared better in Europe if the rest of the team was of European caliber, which it is not. But let me go a bit beyond. Rinus Michels speaking of 1972 Barcelona stated that he had to get rid of several players with excellent skills because they did not fit his system. According to him, they were the stars of yesterday and were made obsolete in the new system. So there we have another paradox. A player that team A considers expendable, another one may consider valuable (see also Traianos Dellas). Therefore, it can be argued that Giovani does not fit the style of play of OSFP (what style?) it can be argued that at times he does spectacular things but in the process destroys the team's cohesion, it can be argued that top-level soccer requires speed and stamina, not only technique. But it is a thankless task to argue if he is good or not based on how well or badly the team does. Soccer is a team sport and often the team is not the sum total of its parts. A player like Tsiartas may be wonderful (he has been pretty good up to now) but I believe that a second Tsiartas in the AEK squad would not improve the team. So, if OSFP were as normal team, with a normal coach, in a normal league we would not be arguing if he is good, bad, or indiferent but rather how well he fits in the team and who might replace him. As none of these preconditions is satisfied, let us enjoy what he does well and pray that in time things might change. Let me end with a non-soccer soccer story. In the middle ages, a famous couple sought to have its marriage annulled because they could not have progeny. The husband and his family suggested that something was wrong with the wife. The wife and her family returned the compliment. After the annulment they remarried (new partners). He proceeded to have 11 children, she on the other hand had only 17. Demonstrating that some of the time the results are not there and noone in particular is to blame.
  8. Since Giovani and I are not intimate, there is not much I could tell about his sexual preferences. Those who are, are free to comment. As for the rest, I note that accordinng to Eleytherotypia:
  9. Giovanni still believes that PAO fans have souls (he is doubtful when it comes to mind or judgement) and hopes that in time they will come to understand what good soccer is. Continuing his "Learn what good soccer is" crusade, he just demonstrated how to score beautifully and without breakind a sweat.
  10. Are you reading kokkalo_news now because you concluded that it is the best source of information, because you believe that whoever was accused of having been a spy must have inside information, or for some other reason?
