I’m done. Gave buddy a chance. Time for new coach. There is no personality or fire to the team. You can’t teach that. That’s not something that just comes on during the season. Our losses aren’t due to sloppy play with a lot of passion. The team is lifeless and apathetic. You can grow into form you can’t grow into caring.

Aside from winning the league along with some cups, growth comes from having successful stints in European competitions. Nobody cares about a Greek league where some teams don't even play at their own stadium (eg. Kalamata, Kifisia) or where Greek referees are not trusted to officiate games in their own league.
Despite their relegation to the third division to avoid paying back €400m debt and their tendency to win games and championships in court, AEK and Iliopoulos have made the CL group stage in just two years. OFI clearly had a plan in place because of Bousis. It took them a few years, but they reached the cup final two years in a row, winning it once along with Super Cup this season. They are now in the Europa League, with two convincing wins. A fantastic achievement for a club like OFI, that usually fields 7-8 Greek players.
Savvidis has been at PAOK for nearly 15 years. The only positives are the academy (and that has only seen recent success), two leagues and a few cups. We have done absolutely nothing in Europe. Since Akpom left the team, every Summer has been the same - "we will get a striker if we get into the group/league stage". We got rid of two 30-something year old players (Kedziora and Ozdoev) and brought in two other 30-something year olds in Santamaria and Elustondo. Why? Konstantelias carried the team for the past few seasons, it was only right that he left for bigger and better things (though we should have negotiated him leaving after the games with Brann).
There is no plan in place. Most of the players are not good enough and, as bananas said above, it is probably going to be a dull year. My only hope is that they give Lisci more time. Everyone else will have two games a week. If he is able to somehow conjure up some chemistry and make a team that competes then we might actually be in a good position. Highly unlikely, though.
Ok ok let’s all settle down a little (not just you this is the sentiment I have seen from many PAOK fans). We haven’t just won “a couple trophies”, it is objectively the most successful period in PAOK history both in league and cup titles… 2 quarter final conference league births and getting out of the Europa league stage a couple times. AND EVERYONE KEEPS HYPING UP THE FACT THAT AEK MADE THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WHEN ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS BEAT ONE SUBPAR TEAM. the only reason they had that opportunity was bcuz of us and Oly getting us coefficient points. They got Sofia when we would get Benfica, Ajax, Besiktas… actual champions league teams. People keep raving about AEK here, on IG, Reddit etc. what did they do? They win the league when us or Oly are in busy or in turmoil… yea they have had a good turn around, but we are acting as if they done anything really of consequence besides win the league. Come on. Bottom line he bought us out of debt and gave our club its greatest periods ever. I AGREE with everyone on here: him and the other higher ups have ran things very poorly the last 3 yrs, but we can not be this quick to forget that Aek would be playing 3 rounds of champions league qualifying against much better teams if not for us.

Didn’t think the dream for all 5 Greek teams to make Europe would be ended by us… the money we made off Konstantelias will be offset in part by not making Europe … great. At least everyone else will be focused on Europe. We can sack this manager and win the league. Champions league next year ! Lol

In the grand scheme of Greek football, unfortunately may be better for us to be in the conference league where we can rack up the most wins 😕
same goes with Olympiacos dropping to the Europa league. This Olympiacos team doesn’t seem suited to go far in champions league play, don’t let the couple of good results at the end of champions league group stage last year fool you. Fact of the matter is, PAOK and Oly have been dragging Greece on their back for a decade when it comes to racking up coefficient points and unfortunately for us to admit, we are best suited to do that in the conference league and Europa league respectively.
AEK - feels like the only time they win the league is when us and Oly are struggling against each other or making deep runs in Europe. I do not have a good feeling about them in the Champions League group stage. Let’s hope for some lucky results. You really don’t need that many wins to get out of the league stage, but I really don’t think they will and a kind of feels like a waste of a Greek team in the champions league.
Panathinaikos - I know they had a little bit of a run in the Europa league last year, but that felt pretty lucky. For the last 20 years, they have been such a wild card no telling if they’ll lose in conference league qualifying, or beat a big fish in the Europa league. Suffice to say, conference league suits them, I just hope they can be more consistent this year.
OFI-no idea what to expect. Again, I wish they were in the conference league because I do not see them doing anything of substance in the Europa league if they make it. Admittedly, have not watched much of their games and maybe I’m in for a surprise but considering this fifth spot has been held by Aris the last couple of years, who have just used it to be knocked out of qualifying each time, the bar is pretty low.

Positive: It’s cool we have so many Greeks starting.
Negative: Ik coach is young and maybe needs time to implement his style but tough watch so far. -

Are they solid? I hate to keep sounding negative but a CB who just got relegated with West Ham and another who plays in the Danish league is not my idea of solid. I know we don’t have much better but still. Tough to see what the answer is.

Too often we are overrun in the midfield there is not enough presence there at the moment. Hopefully Karetsas and others can show in the coming Nations League and Euro Qualifying.
That’s very true. Hopefully someone grows into that role. They need a leader in the middle of the pitch who also has the skills to back it up.

Before everyone says that you need defense to make tournaments… why have we failed to qualify in over 10 yrs for a tournament ? We got results against the big teams in our groups. Spain a couple years ago comes to mind, but you know what costed us? NOT SCORING AND GETTING 3 POINTS AGAINST THE WEAKER TEAMS. Time and time again. In the current expanded euro and World Cup formats we just need second in a qualifying group. That’ means scoring and beating the Lithuania’s, Finland’s, kosovos of the lot. If we lose 4-1 to the pot A team in our group so be it. Better than stealing a draw from a France only to then tie to Gibraltar and lose even more points.

I just don’t think I can agree with this. Yes Mouzakitis and played bad but between him Zaferies we have some young decent midfielders. I’m not saying great, but better than the last 10 years of midfielders. Are they Karagounis level? No but the biggest problem we have is defense. We don’t have the players to revert back to a defensive mindset. Our best defender got relegated in the Prem this year. Tsimakas sometimes plays for Roma, koulorakis may become something but still. We don’t have Socrates, Manolas, torosidis back there. For the first time in our nations history we have attacking creative players. We need a coach that can emphasize that. When you put a kourbelis, bouckalakis, Masouras, Mantalos on the field they make the rest of the creative players around them worse and stifle them. We need to clean house player wise and get a creative coach.

Coach needs to go now. We lost to the Italian C team essentially… should’ve done what the Italians did and only play youth in these friendlies. I don’t need to watch another 15 min Tsimikas cross delivery fifa drill

Masouras, Siopis, kourbelis, pelkas, Mantalos, mavropanos, bakasetas, rota, Tsimikas I can’t wait for this entire dark generation to be done playing. It’s not just that they weren’t good enough compared to the past 2 generations, it’s that (besides bakasetas) there never even felt like any fight whatsoever from them. Apathy from one campaign to the next. No signature Greek fight or want.

What a disappointing season. It hurts more so because of some of the big wins we scored against the likes of Lille. That was probably one of our greatest wins in club history in terms of opposition level and excitement. Reminds me of that win again I think it was Fiorentina ? At the last second to get out of the Europa league group stage. Regardless, we left trophies-less. Even worse than that in my opinion was the bad performances against some of the easier teams in the Europa table. We could have very well gotten a top 8 placing and skipped a round. It is time for a new coach. New voice needed. Yes we had injuries at important times, but if there ever was a time to spend it’s now. We as PAOK fans have been spoiled the last decade IMO in terms of trophies and European challenges so a bad year is understandable but not acceptable. I still believe that the Conference league is the single greatest thing to happen to Greek soccer in the 21st century. We are able to watch our teams go deeper in European play but also more importantly, gain ground on other leagues and build coefficient spots. Unfortunately under the previous 2 tournament format, I don’t think either us or Oly would have been able to do enough damage to pull the league back up to 2 champions league spots: bottom line is this. The future of PAOK and the Super league is arguably in the best position it has been since the early 2000s, provided we spend this summer, I am very optimistic for next year. PAME PAOKARA

I'd add Bakasetas to that list nut we can use his veteran leaderships for the youth but with very limited play.
And to all our AEK fans out here we need to call it for what it is. Mantalos has never once been good for the national team besides a lone game against Kosovo or something. He’s barely been “good” for yall. I understand the sentiment of have a good Greek player on your club team, I will champion Konstantelias floppy on the floor and dribbling into 3 defenders till the day he leaves PAOK lol. But come on, same thing with Masouras for Olympiacos, let’s not kid ourselves like we have been for a decade.

A bakasetas goal every other game is the ceiling for the last decade of the national team. It is so sad to think of the countless missed opportunities we’ve had to be in tournaments. I’m not optimistic even with these youngsters. Now we have the early making of an attack without a defense behind it. The total opposite of the teams of old. Only difference is we had world class defenders back then playing for Dortmund and Roma while now our attacking “stars” are tearing up the Belgian and Greek league. I hope the guys at Brighton workout but at this point, my infinite optimism for this team has all but vanished …

I hope the Denmark game was a learning experience. I think we have a young team and in Greece people go from not caring about the team to going the complete other way and selling out stadiums and parading in the streets about our hot new talents. I think it was the youngsters first time seeing the full Greek crowd vs a big team and the anxiety got to them. That being said, I think he shoulda kept the same team today instead of playing it safe and bringing the oldies out again… but hey it is what it is. We looked good but we need to finish this is effectively our last shot. PAME

Giakoumakis was on for most of the game and did nothing...
He did not play well either but we also were not in providing him with any service compared to when Chalov came on. I think he still needs time to gel with the team but anything is better than Chalov up front.
