  1. Tzatziki, he is not some big star, but he provides something that no other player in Greece can, which is the will and ability to go at defenders. Even off the bench, if ever Greece needed a change in dynamic or swing in momentum, who better to come on than Fetfatzidis? We have too many marginal midfielders on this team that offer the same elements. My issue is why not have Fetfa as an option on the bench?

the prophecy is coming true. karnezis in form to an 84!

    http://www.futhead.com/17/players/51349/orestis-karnezis/

we now have 86 sokratis 86 manolas and 84 karnezis. Fifa wise the strongest greek side of all time.

the lazy greek mentality is also thwarted after the faroe losses so it may have been a blessing in disguise.

if we can scrap a point or more from belgium, anything can happen.

FIFA is a complete joke. They keep putting the wrong starting lineups and now Manolas is not even an option for the NT because he wasn't called up due to injury last round. They just removed him from the Greek NT and won't be available again until he is called up vs Belgium in March. I know they want to make it as current as possible, but use some  judgement. Morons working that database.

  3. Enough is enough. We are so limited in our offensive talent pool and yet we purposely ignore our most skilled, elusive player. He is the only player available for Greece right now whose first instinct is to take on defenders with the ability to back, thus adding a dimension that is currently non-existent in our game.

This is getting ridiculous. To not even have him as an option on the bench is downright irresponsible. Skibbe, get your s%$#! together.

Let me tell it like it is, shoot from the hip! Will the Pirates get any points vs Belgium? a definite maybe!

KPaps shows a lot of potential although he is overly injury prone. Not a great player yet. Sok and Manolas are the real deal.

He was playing like a man at 18, but his setbacks have stunted his grownth.

  5. AEK86, one thing to remember is that they would say the same thing about us. Your assessment says less about the state of the Greek NT and more about the parity in international football, especially in Europe. Anybody can beat anyone on any given day.

Just take a look at other groups in WC qualifying, we have one of the best records to date and even if we consider a loss in Belgium next match we would be 3-1-1; better than most those teams ahead of us in the rankings. Did we absolutely dominate Cyprus and Estonia? No. We did not play great, but our football isn`t attractive even when we do. Nevertheless, we got results, while many other teams with better FIFA ranking have been dropping points left and right to ''inferior'' sides.

I like that they call him a STAR in that article, but I'm kind of left scratching my head over the speed comments. Sokratis is pretty quick, especially for a big dude.

It`s so refreshing to see him being called a star when it seems like media and foreign fans alike do everything in their power to under-appreciate our top players.

This is the team I would choose against Belgium:

     .  .  .  .           Karnezis

    Manolas    Oikonomou   Sokratis

                          Samaris

    Torosidis  Mantalos  Fortounis Stafylidis

                        Mitroglou  Vellios

It looks risky but it's the right formation. We have to play wing backs. We also need 2 strikers in the box. Fortounis and Mantalos need to stay central and Samaris needs to cover and distribute very well.

    Substitutes- Karelis, Tachtsidis and Gianniotas.

The 3-CB formation is a must, but not to experiment vs Belgium. Wait until KPap is back and that unit will be lethal.

Sokratis is now 28. Manolas is 25. There is no arguing that Manolas is developing and becoming better than Sokratis was at 25. Also they are both rated 84 on FIFA 17. In my opinion Sokratis is slightly better, but not much. Sokratis is better in terms of composure on the ball. Everything else is the same. They are both good in the air, strong, and fast. I also believe that K.Papadopoulos would be better than both of them right now if it wasn't for his injuries.

Now with Ninis and Fetfatzidis. They both were really talented at 18. Actually Ninis at 16 was very promising. They both should have left Greece at 20.

I just can't understand why other countries have more depth than us. Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, France,Croatia, Brazil and Argentina.

They all have a big talent pool to choose from.

Mainly because their development programs are light-years ahead of Greece`s.

I saw him in the previous game against FC Koln.  Overall played well and is definitely coming along as a player.  Has a very good attacking instinct.  But I've heard that Olympiakos have some young kid who is already better than him anyway.  Can't remember the name.

    Retsos.
