I agree with your view. The guy can be a world class striker. He certainly possesses all the physical attributes, but he seems easily distracted and lazy.Man City are playing their first game of the season under the guidance of Sven Goran Erikssen. Samaras isn't in the team, not even on the bench. And with Middlesborough withdrawing their interest it looks like his time in England is over.
I wonder where his career goes from here. His time at Man City is surely over now.
Sven has started his revolution and it appears he has no plans for Samaras.
I hope he goes to a team in Spain, France, Germany or Netherlands and maybe they can turn him into a true professional.

Kali epitixia paidia!
How great is it to see these pics with happy Greeks! :gr:
Full credit to everyone connected to this team. Nioplias looks overjoyed and so he should. He's done a fantastic job with these up and coming youth players.

Bravo paidia!
Let's hope this isn't the FIBA World Championships all over again where we celebrated prin tin wpa and we got spanked by Spain! No Deja Vu please!
-
LOL - I don't think the ferret on the back of his head is making him score. But then again, maybe it is! :PWho are you, Delilah? Leave Samson's hair alone! :P

Fani didn't score yesterday as Bochum ended up losing 2 - 3 at home to Stuttgart.
Either way however, he looks like finishing Bundesliga top scorer which is a fantastic achievement for him and if you consider where Bochum were and where they are finishing (just short of UEFA place), the Bochum fans and club should be extremely happy with the "gamble" of picking him up.
Bravo Fani...perimenw na exeis kopsi to mali gia to epomeno seson.

I saw the goal on the Goalissimo program.Goals from yesterday by Katsou.
0 - 3 penalty in the 90'
Low and hard to the keeper's left. He got a hand on it but couldn't keep it out.
Apperently God helped him as he looked up to the "heavens" after he scored.
-
All hail King Cazzu!Villareal are interested in Katsouranis, personaly i dont think he should make the move.

Bochum lost 3 -1.BOCHUM 1 - 2 HERTHA BERLIN :(
bochum were ahead 1-0 gekas scored but it's all changed now :(
it's approching the last minutes looks like the score is going to
stay like this .
At least he scored another goal.
I think even if VfL Bochum stay up Gekas should leave for a bigger club. He is in his mid to late 20s now and there would be no better time for him to test himself at a greater club.
-
It's a very well written and witty piece, but it is quite insulting to Gekas."The Greek attacker, on loan from Panathinaikos, sports a mullet straight out of the 1980s and is essentially an unreconstructed, old-fashioned centre-forward, bereft of skill or imagination. He's also dull as the river Ruhr off the pitch - going on long walks with his wife is his only known hobby - and doesn't exactly dazzle spectators on it. He contributes next to nothing to his team's game, wins the least challenges in the league and is flagged offside so often that assistant referees are in danger of developing tendonitis. Against Hannover last week he managed to stray offside five times in five minutes.
He's the anti-Thierry Henry, both in a good and bad sense: his all-round game might be severely lacking but his finishing is world-class. His goals and the retro-cool of his Vokuhila-hair (vorne kurz, hinten lang - the German shlong) have firmly established him as a Greek god in Bochum, the club colloquially known as the greyest of all "grey mice" in Germany.
Every time he scores, the Sirtaki booms out in the Rewirpower-Stadion. An ever increasing Greek contingent is attracted to the ground and this week he will coach a training session of Hellas Bochum, a local Greek women's team. Some of team-mates secretly begrudge his success and are convinced that he only sees the club as a stepping stone but they can't really complain: Gekas has become known as Bochum's "life insurance", as no club with the leading goal-scorer has ever been relegated in the league's history.
Sadly for Bochum, they are set to lose their surprisingly prolific hitman either way. Their option to buy Gekas for ?700,000 is only valid if they stay up - but if they do, wealthier clubs will step in. "Fanis" is rumoured to have already agreed terms with Leverkusen, who are looking to replace the Liverpool-bound Andre Voronin. It has to be said that Gekas' mullet would only be a slight improvement on the Ukrainian's raver ponytail. But goals are still more important, even in the Beckham age."
The mullet he sports is shocking and in my opinion fair game for people to take the mickey out of, but the writers attack on him being dull and bereft of skill does not negate from this when giving him a backhand compliment for his goal scoring.
We all need some humour when analysing the world, and especially football but if I was Gekas I'd be annoyed! :D
The guy has skill. He is more skillful than Charisteas for example. He should show it more.
Kai kopsto gourounotriho re Fani!

It looks like Gekas might be moving up!! There is rumors going around that Stugard wants him. That will be a good move for him. Here is the link:

He also scored AFTER the 3rd round FA cup match.
He pulled 2 trollop slappers at a Manchester pub and took them back home for some "slap and tickle" *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* and a bit of "how's ya father?", you know what I mean?
Bravo Giorgo! I have always said that Kritikoi are God's people...the chosen ones.
You reinforce my belief that Kritikoi are correct by calling Jesus Christ, Manoli!
-
His first goal was impressive.
He took a pass from inside his half and casually dribbled well into Everton's half leaving defenders guessing at what he would do next.
He then slipped a ball behind the defenders in their penalty box to a rushing Beasley who then crossed to a near post rushing Samaras who side footed the ball through the keepers legs.
His second was a penalty. Which he confidently dispatched.
-
He's worth has come by getting Bochum out of the relagation zone through his goals.
Bochum are only 2 points off mid-table which reflects very well on Fani and I hope that he goes to a bigger German club if Bochum doesn't show their potential in Bundesliga.
-
He scored overnight again to lift Bochum off the Bundesliga table.
Bravo Funky Fani!
I think he's loan deal will either be made permanent or he will find another club abroad. He is right on with his comments on the Greek league et al.
-
I watched the weekends game v Wigan and Man City were down 2 nil in 3 minutes.
Samaras played a full match but was largely ineffective.
He tried hard but it wasn't his or Man City's day.
They ended up losing 4 - 0.
-
I saw the goals as well and he could esily have had 4 or 5. At least he is finding himself in these positions.
Charisteas can only dream of finishing the way Samara did on the weekend.
Bravo Giorgo! You're world class!
-
Really positive for Fani to be performing. Hopefully he can help his side off the bottom of the ladder.Glad for the guy..good for him..Yes prove PAO that you were worth to keep
4 matches gone and they only have the draw they got this past weekend at Nurenburg who were league leaders, so that is something positive.
Check out Fani's hairstyle from the clubs website:
Looks like the German climate has kick started the mullet into super growth.

Played full Champions League game for Benfica against FC Copenhagen in Denmark Wedensday night.
According to uefa.com, he was fouled in the 11' minute but aside from that I'm not sure how he played.

Fantastic scenes all over Greece.
The Greek media (ERT/ANTenna et al) are bringing out all the "classics" tunes to celebrate.
Europe's "The final countdown" and even The Scorpions!!!!
We're right back in the 80s! No wonder Gekas is still sporting the mullet!
All over Greece ta tsigannakia and the mullet headed mixavakia gangs are going off!
:gr:

Marcos lost eventually, but I guess the match was set up for Agassi playing his final tournament and all. Marco has years ahead of him.
It's a pity that he will have Federer in front of him for a few more years as he is the only one I really feel is better than Marco.
-
Absolutely unbelievable!
Bravo paidia!
Just switched on the TV and the whole of Greece is reliving Euro 2004 again.

Makari na eitan toso eukolo!also if you live in australia- GET TO JAPAN NOW!!!! OLOI MESA!!! :gr:
It's a 9 hour flight to Narita (near Tokyo), Japan from Sydney.
Would be excellent if there could be at least a few hundred Ellines in the stadium to give the place a familiar atmosphere.

Is she a stunner (as opposed to a stunned mullet! :P)?

somehow the mullet gets chicks  - seen his wife? shes fine...
I don't really care. I'm not into women, if you know what I mean (private joke between Hollywood and myelf) ;)
