BAR feels sorry...

It looks like the BAR team feels really bad about the current situation. The team now admits that it has made a mistake at Imola and admits that the cars should weigh at least 600kg without the fuel, even if the car's fuel system is such that some of the fuel in the car is unusable.

The warning letter that the FIA send out a few days ago seemed to have worked. BAR seems to be shocked in a statement issued today (Thursday). Het team now fully admits it did not understand the rules of the Formula 1 championship. "Before making these enquiries it was the team's honest belief that fuel which could not be used during the race did not have to be removed before the car was weighed," the BAR statement said.

The BAR statement continued saying: "On this basis BAR Honda accept the decision of the FIA Court of Appeal as fair in the circumstances and recognise that the judges in this, as in other cases, are fully independent, being lawyers and professional judges of high standing who give their service on a voluntary basis."

All the BAR team wanted to do is play fair… "BAR Honda want nothing more than to compete with other teams in the Formula One World Championship on an entirely fair and equal basis and look forward to rejoining the competition at the European Grand Prix."

Montoya: McLaren is difficult to drive

Juan Pablo Montoya has admitted he does not feel comfortable at the wheel of McLaren's MP4-20. The Colombian, who only returned from injury at Barcelona last time out, told 'Speed TV' that the Mercedes-powered car is not yet to his liking. "At the moment it's a difficult car to drive for me," the 29-year-old driver admitted.

While Montoya struggled with the handling, his teammate - Finland's Kimi Raikkonen - took the Spanish win with a dramatic pace. JPM explained: "The problem for me is the car seems to work in a very narrow window.

"For me to make the front tyres work at the beginning of the race is also a big issue."

No punishment for Toyota

Toyota will not be punished for racing without a national competition license, FIA president Max Mosley confirmed. It emerged last week that the Cologne based team's German documentation had expired prior to Melbourne and F1 team management forgot to renew it until after Imola last month.

"There won't be any penalties for Toyota," Max told Italian sporting newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that the Japanese owned team will - as is common for barrier-lined Monaco - take a second spare car to the Principality. "We have a spare car for both Jarno (Trulli) and Ralf (Schumacher)," chief race engineer Dieter Gass confirmed.

Renault hit streets of Istanbul

After Rome several weeks ago, the Renault F1 Team entered Istanbul for the latest city-centre Roadshow. The Renault F1 Roadshow has been a big success since its inception - 25,000 spectators in awful conditions in Rome, 60,000 in Zolder two weeks ago for the opening World Series event!

At 14:30, a parade of a dozen Renault vehicles from 1898 to 2005 will be shown in the hippodrome, including Alain Serpaggi in the first Renault F1 car, from 1977; Jean-Pierre Jaussaud in the 1978 Le Mans winning Renault Alpine A442; Jean Ragnotti in his legendary Renault Max 5. Around 15:15, the show began when Fernando Alonso nosed his F1 car out onto the track

This demonstration is another concrete example of the Renault F1 Team's desire to take F1 to the people and the sport's fans while putting on a unique show. After the success of the first efforts in Madrid, Moscow, Lyon and Rome, the honour now falls to Istanbul - it promises to be an unmissable spectacle!
