  1. Dangerous foul in a great position for PAOK.. yellow to Kolovetsios.
  2. Other than Galo, we are doing much better that I thought we would, at least thats what it sounds like on the radio. Labropoulos playing very well in the first 25 minutes or so.
  3. I think Galo has passed his prime and we should start to play Bakakis more often, he's had a shocking start to the game and to the season.
  4. Chygrinski out sick for the game.... I'm kind of glad I won't be able to watch...
  5. After the events at Peristeri today for Olympiakos, the protathlima is finished.
  6. Platellas didn't even make the apostoli for the game guys.
  7. Today in practice Morais tested Anestis Galo Chygrinski Kolovetsios Didac Simoes Johanson Mantalos Bakasetas Patito Almeida Apparently, he does not think that Lazaros is 100% ready enough to play a full 90 so soon after Tuesday's game. He tried out Bakasetas in a position that he is more comfortable in rather than being lost on the wings. I think he will contribute a lot more in his natural position behind Almeida. Mantalos on the wing is not something I remember ever seeing for AEK, but with the ethniki, he plays on the wing and does pretty well. The rest of the lineup is pretty logical. I also think having the ability to bring on a player like Lazaros off the bench will make a big difference for us, he can add a spark late in games when PAOKs players get tired.
  8. I like Siopis; he's at a good age, a pretty good player, and he plays a position of need. My problem with him is his height; he's kind of small for a defensive midfielder. Nonetheless, he would be a good signing for us and provide depth behind Simoes, and Johanson. We are going to face competition from Panathinaikos for him, so if they are that interested in him, then Majstoroivc should begin the process of signing him. Depending on what reports you read, Majstorovic and Morais agreed that we need two central midfielders, but they each need to be different styles of player. Siopis is more of a number 6, a full-fledged defensive midfielder, similar to Simoes. I've heard that there's a decent chance that Simoes is sold this summer once his value gets a little higher, and if that's the case, then it would be a good move to have brought in a possible replacement for him early on. We are also looking in the foreign markets for a number 8, someone that's comfortable with the ball to link our defense and attack. This is the kind of player we are missing this year, and we missed last year. I love Johanson, he's great at winning the ball, and closing down passing lanes, but with the ball I consider him average. For example, against small teams that sit back and defend the whole time we have difficulties breaking them down, it would help our attack if we have a midfielder that's an excellent passer and has great vision to put in some through balls to a player making a run. This is something that the only player I've seen do this for us in the past 4 seasons is Zuculini last year. My dream would be for Tachtsidis to come back and take over this role, but there's a snowball's chance in hell that he leaves Italy at his age to come to AEK. This season's title chase ended against Panionios, but we still need to play for second place and slowly fill the holes in the roster for next season. Two central midfielders are a must this winter if we don't then we will have problems with fatigue late in the season and the playoffs. We also need another striker, Almeida is old and injury prone, while Pekhart sucks.
  9. Vargas is available for this game after all, he will be a good option off of the bench. Slowly but surely, we are getting back to full strength.
  10. Only Lescott and Vargas are out injured for this game, so we will have an *almost* full strength squad for the first time all year. I would play something like this: Barkas Galo Chygrinski Kolovetsios Didac Simoes Johanson Lazaros Mantalos Patito Almeida Hopefully, with a few more practices Morais can install some more of his tactics into the team. I'm not expecting much out of this game, but for F***s sake, we haven't been competitive in Toumba since the year we lost in the 90th minute, about 7 years ago maybe. We have the quality, now let's try and bring it together slowly and build chemistry. Also, I've chosen Barkas over Anestis because Anestis worries, he still hasn't learned how to judge crosses, and when to come off his line to collect the ball. Barkas played well against Kerkyra and deserves a chance; we did spend close to 1 million euros on his transfer after all. Another possible change to the lineup could be Diaz over Didac, for me, Diaz is better offensively, but Didac is better defensively. In an away derby, I'm going with the more defensive option.
  11. 4-0. It's about time that we finally had some organized attacking chances this season. The easy win and nice team goals are a nice confidence boost for the team, now lets hope we play well in Toumba.
  12. Laola 1 guys for all cup games. We've had 3 questionable no calls on penalties go against us already... At least one of them should have been called. Anyways, we aren't playing well at all.
  13. Time to send Aravidis far far away
  14. We have a game tomorrow at home against Panionios. It will be a very tough game with a new coach that doesn't know the team well yet, and also because of the players that we are missing. Lazaros, Patito, and Galo are all out suspended. Lescott, Vargas, and Simoes are all out injured; there's also a chance that Johanson does not play because he's suffering from the flu. All of these factors considered we are going to need big performances from Mantalos and Almeida if we want to win. Morais, because of all the injuries, had to try out this lineup in training: Anestis Bakakis Chygrinski Kolovetsios Didac Galanopoulos Mantalos Bakasetas Platellas Almeida Aravidis I can already tell that Morais is a more serious coach than Ketsbaia because he'd rather player a true midfielder than Lambropoulos when Johnson and Simoes can't play. I look forward to seeing how Galanopoulos does. Also, many reports have said that Morais likes to play an attacking game, which is the complete opposite of Ketsbaia. It will be interesting to see how much he lets the team attack with so few practices in charge and so many injuries to key players.
  15. http://www.sdna.gr/podosfairo/superleague/article/255814/stis-500000-eyro-morais3-epano-toy-ola-o-melissanidis If this guy fails, it's all on Melissanidis since he picked him.
  16. We're sorry Gus, please come back!
  17. This guy's a 51 year old career assistant... It's not like he's young...
  18. WOW...... Well.... We've just announced Jose Morais as our new manager For whoever doesn't know him, he was Mourinho's assistant at Inter, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.... He has very limited head coaching experience, coached last year in Turkey for a team that was just promoted and lead them to a mid-table finish. The ONLY positive about this move is that they replaced Ketsbaia very quickly, and they must've had this move lined up during the international break, so maybe he knows a little bit about our players already... Other than that it looks like a bad move...
  19. Ketsbaia was dangerous for this team; he was horrible at making in-game adjustments and setting the team up tactically. He had to go; it has nothing to do with the results. The fact is, he was given the best roster we've had since 2008, and we've been playing horribly. We won games because of mistakes by our opponents and we were outplayed in all but one game. After the fiasco against Olympiakos, where he set the team up to fail he lost the locker room. We have a chance now to save our season. We are only two points back, and now with a proper coach we can be contenders. However, Melissanidis can not be cheap about this. He NEEDS to bring in an experienced manager that has done decently in a high-quality league, and he needs to allow that manager to bring in his own assistants. Marcelo Biesla, Thomas Schaaf, Michel, or Marcellino that was sacked by Villareal just a few months ago, should be options if we want to mean business. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcelino_García_Toral Marcelino is my personal favorite, he lead Villareal back to the first division and then to 3 straight top 6 finishes, including a fourth-place finish last year and a run to the semi-finals of the Europa League. Melissanidis, splash the cash, save the season, and give this man the keys to the club.
  20. Bye Ketsbaia make sure you take Labropoulos with you on the way out.... let's hope his replacement is not some cheap options, and let's hope he's never been associated with AEK or the Super League before....
  21. Am I the only one that thinks Anestis was horrible on their goal? Yeah he made up for it at the end but this kid still hasn't learned when to come out on a cross after 3 seasons with us.
  22. Send Ketsbaia to Anorthosis tonight... It was like we were playing against Real Madrid out there...
  23. Our midfield is in shambles every time Simoes is injured.... who knew that we were gonna need another defensive midfielder this season??? Everyone in Greece or that follows Greek soccer except PAE!!
  24. We are starting with Anestis Galo Kolovetsios Chygrinski Didac Johanson Mantalos Bakasetas Platellas Aravidis and Lazaros. It's a chance for Kolovetsios, Aravidis, and Platellas to prove their worth. The formation is supposed to be a 4-1-4-1 with Johanson sitting in front of the center backs, and Mantalos and Bakasetas in front of him in the center. It is very risky leaving out Almeida, lets see what happens. GOAL Platellas!
Ketsbaia is testing out a very interesting and attacking lineup in training. I'd personally would love to see this but it's risky in an away game.
