  1. jarv....the team quit on the coach....simple. no yellow cards until 88 minute. we always get two at least in the first half ... they quit. it was obvious form the beginning, the body language, the players interviews...etc....
  2. look he lost the team...........they quit......there is no other explanation....
  3. im glad to risk not qualifying if a. a new crop of young guys get thrown into the qualification in order to test the new group against good competition, to build cohesion continuity etc. and B. (this is a big one) The coach has a clue. This guy, from what I see and compare with other coaches we have had, seems clueless.........and worse when a Greek tsoglani professinal soccer player turns on you, you can forget it ....... now - his resume speaks for itself and he obviously has been exposed to muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch more soccer in one year than i have in my lifetime, but, that does not mean a guy like me or anyone lese on this board does not see and observe valid points about the team and his approach. the bottom line is wins and loses.....(and ties) lol....... and we lost to NORTHERN FREAKIN' IRELAND.......not even the entire island, just the FREAKIN' NORTHERN PART !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. it just shows there is a fine line between good teams and bad ones....we reached quaters of world cup and several months later we are holding our breadth for the FREAKIN" FAROE ISLANDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. said it day one...the moment germany etc are having two friendlies as tune ups, and this clown schdules ZERO friendlies when he knows he is going to gut the team was all i needed to see to conclude we were in for nasty weather.... but it makes the previous two coaches look pretty damn good - especially when everyone on this board was bellyaching for "new blood" and "bring in the young guys" "why the gerousia" etc.........well dont wish for something too much because you may get it.... as JS says - continuity, cohesion, key to success....sum of the parts is greater than the whole.. DO U GUYS REALIZE WE ARE ACTUALLY SOMEWHAT CONCERNED ABOUT THE FAROE ISLANDS !!!!!!!! AND...... THAT WE L O S T --- L O S T ----- TO NORTHERN FREAKIN IRELAND ????????????????????????????????????????
  6. claudio is in a no lose situation; he inherited a winning tradition, with a very old group.... he cant keep the older guys becuae come tournament time they will be two years older; he MUST infuse ALOT of new guys....and we all know by now, soccer is a team game and for greece, they must play as a cohesive unit.... but there is a better way to do this, and making wholesale changes is disruptive to whatever continuity we had with the kara/kats/salpi era.... MIDFIELD is the key...gekas (natural scorer) scores because he gets the ball from his suporting cast...if our mids dont produce pele, etec etc could get a good shot on net... his choices are suspect, but look, everyone who has always cried out "give the young guys a chance" well here you go....this is what the plan is apparently.
  7. karnezis has the worst reaction time i have ever seen... same old story folks...granted it was a second string squad but WTF is this coach doin?
  8. i dont understand this coach....at all... 4 fukcing goalies? what is the logic? can anybody shed some light on that? from the moment he did not have any friendlies in spite of knowing the roster would be overhauled was, in my book, a very clear defining moment.... i dont get it
  9. mark my words. this coach will be a disaster....his body language, his interview, his preparation, his call ups. NO friendly...he should have had two, not one. u r the new coach, u need to send a message to everyone. u pick a new group and gut your midfield, etc. etc. this was an egregious series of mis steps in my opinion. very ominous start. look, just because he would have had two friendlies still doesnt mean they would have won...but, if you are a coach of his experience, dont you think you need to get the team at least SOME game time together? ESPECIALLY if you are introducing SO many new elements, players and tactics? i dont get it. if that is the overall way he approaches his job, we are in for some "nasty weather"
  10. a few friendlies to see who emerges would be nice this to me is not a good sign......it really isn't. u dont "learn on the job" ...
  11. midfield has been the problem for years now...either because they are "coached" to stay back or because they just dont play offensively..... i think ninis is a good idea for midfield, since he has vision and skill and, will not be asked to muscle anyone up...but he has dropped off the map for some reason......and fetfa could be a good option to play a "messi" like role..... avraaaam stinks...dont know why he is even on the team..... dont know.....just dont know
  12. js and crew.... without a general on the field we are lost....someone MUST rise to the occasion...karagouni with all his deficiencies at his current stage was still a LEADER - and the game went through him. and since midfield is the key in any offensive push, we now have a bunch of individuals who, though may have some ability, have never played together...this is a wholesale change...we have always asked for the young guys to get a chance, but now midfiled is gutted. who is gonna drive the team? who is going to step up and be the one that others latch onto? who is #10? who is gonna "make the game"? we HAD nobody at midfield that could play offensively, but at least there was a plan, and some cohesion....but now we have no cohesion, or leader to make the game.... i very curious how this will all unfold... maybe we can lure Tsiartas out of retirement...
  13. our first friendly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OM, couldn't resist. ya think maybe romania gonna come out guns a blazing due to our knocking them out of the world cup? i wish we had a few friendlies to at least acclimate everyone to a new system, new guys on the squad and particualrly midfield that has the potential to look very different than what we are used to... kone - taxidis - fourtounis - samaris? where is fet and ninis? nini i can understand a bit, but no fet? here we go again : I DONT GET GET IT
  14. guess we don't need a friendly ------ new players, new coach, etc.....yeah i guess we don't need one, of course not.
  15. no gekas/fetfa/tsiolis/ etc.....diamantakos/athanasiadis in......... same story...if we dont push up in midfield and play with an attacking metality, we will continue to struggle for goals. new coach biggest challenge is to a. create a strong midfield; b. instill confidence that the team can play going forward. bottom line: pele cant score if he has no support. period. call up all the strikers you want, if your midfield is not pushing forward to support the strikers then the offense will continue to be anemic.
