  1. Αν η γιαγια μου ειχε καρουλια... :P No, we don't need to discuss old posts, since they are there for all to see. The only point to add is that when MEGA went to Directv in 2006, lots of the posters were pretending as if this was the only time a platform tried to compete with Dish. It wasn't. But I was amazed by all the people who were refusing to look at the track record of entities like Directv when it came to international programming. Remember, there was a bigger picture beyond Greek programming and lots of channels Directv lured and dumped.
  2. You can watch it right on your tv with roku for free
  3. Come on, don't be so hard on them. They offered us some fun. We can go back some years' posts and read all these predictions by posters here of how "Directv will kill Dish" or how "Home2US will kill Dish" and how in the end "there will be no channel left at Dish but Antenna."Good times...
  4. Does EllasTV have the international versions of Greek channels, meaning ERT WORLD, ANTENNA SATELLITE, MEGA COSMOS, and ALPHA SAT?
  5. Or, you know, according to your websitehttp://www.ellastvshop.com/ it is already coming to Roku since...wait for it...September 2011 <_<
  6. North America Greek Basic Package $29.99/month Includes Greek Radio Package & Video On Demand. Not what your page says. It shows only TWO TV channels for Basic Package.
  7. Hey ttentelh, by visiting your website I saw that MEGA COSMOS, STAR INTERNATIONAL, and ERT WORLD cost $39.99 a month AND I have to pay $200 for your receiver. Meanwhile the same three cost $29.99 on whenever TV and
  8. I agree with you completely. I understand having some short 20-minute news bulletin for those who don't speak Greek but want to know what is happening in Greece. But since ERT World is not a free feed (like Russian Today, and France 24, two english-speaking feeds for instance) paying $15 to hear English with a Greek accent is not what I would pay for. Then again, this is the same government whose current Minister of Education once had proposed making English the official language in Greece (back when she was a EU commissioner) so you never know...
  9. I never believed that was actually a possibility.Media recently reported that ERT will focus even more on satellite as it is going to shut down all its digital channels in Greece and ET1. ET3's fate is debated. Of course if they close down two of the three channels, I must ask what exactly they will be showing on ERT World. I do hope at a minimum they keep ET3 besides NET (which is the only guaranteed to stay open).
  10. FYI, you can also watch eurovision live at http://www.eurovision.tv/esctv/future
  11. The strike was on Wednesday, not Tuesday
  12. Our programming. Are you now an employee of EllasTV as well as a subscriber? You missed the part where he is giving his phone number for those interested in "our programming."
  13. SKAI should have simply gone ahead and do it. Everything about private tv channels in Greece is illegal and has been from the start. No licenses were ever given and may never be given except for temporary ones. It is yet another symptom of the no-man's-land that the Greek laws are.
  14. So, how long will this go on? Why is nobody going after them? This is ridiculous...
  15. They also eliminated pc viewing as an option (though they still have it listed in their packages). I guess they are really eager to make some money off these boxes before someone blows the whistle on them about stealing that signal and their whole operation is shut down.
  16. Yep, do call. Call Mega Cosmos for instance--you will find out what Ellas TV doesn't want you to know. You can't close this discussion because 1) you are not a moderator 2) you didn't open it 3) you never really took part in it. No questions about the legal status of the service have been answered--you simply made claims with no support. So if you thought this was just a forum for you to come and find people to exploit, and make false claims like "Mega Cosmos and Alter Globe are moving to your platform" you got it very wrong.
  17. Good--I finally have proof that you are (since you like greeklish) apati.
  18. Remember this statement: "please spread the word out Mega Cosmos & Alter Globe are just making changes to a more reliable platform & economical choices for the customer" ? Guess what? I spoke to someone from Mega Cosmos today and they told me they have nothing to do with Ellas TV, and that they will in fact announce their plans early next week. So maybe Ellas TV does not want to be called non-legit, but they sure make false advertising.
  19. I just checked http://www.ellastv.gr/ and their website is down. I must say, not a very promising beginning for an IPTV provider!
  20. It is criminal that ERT has not tried to be on major cable systems like Time Warner and Comcast the way RAI has. Of course the Greek government is going to issue "to omologo tis omogeneias." Very clear what they see Greeks abroad to be for: money only.
  21. Remember this discussion includes your comment about I ZOI TIS ALLIS "In fact this show in question was the number one rated show daily in Greece almost all last season. (Sometimes switched spots with the orig. scripted "Ta Mistika Tis Edem" which was usually 2nd.) And not just so-so numbers. If I recall correctly, it was hitting close to 50% daily on AGB. " I made the point that this bragging about the number one show was based on 80% of TV sets never tuning to it, not on that 50% you keep claiming. You say you understand the difference between shares and ratings, but claims like the above don't show that my friend.
  22. Grk101, our definitions of "quality scripted shows" are 180 degrees apart if you consider MEGA there. Greek TV production is junk and has been for years now. While every now and then the single decent show will pop up on MEGA or ANTENNA, most of it is pitiful IMO and the fact that they have to get ideas from other countries is so indicative of intellectual penury: I understand not having heavy industry etc, but to not be able to even come up with ideas and to have to, for instance, do "IXNH" from CSI or transfer spanish shows and telenovelas is the last straw in my eyes. Anyway, back to TV, yes these telenovellas get high shares of TVs open (easily in the 40s) . Shares, not ratings. But if you look at breakdowns of ratings, more and more Greeks, especially younger people under 40, have turned their backs on Greek TV.For an explanation of how share (
  23. They have aired reality from the beginning, like Greek versions of Survivor, some awful shows like Farma and The Bar etc, also Greek Idol, their version of Pop Idol. Mega never managed to get the right to air these versions on Mega cosmos, same as they never cared to air telenovelas based on foreign scripts (Mia Stigmi, Dyo Zwes, I Zoi tis Allis). I am going to say they do not care, because for their prime time shows (Polykatoikia, Latremenoi Moy Geitones) they do get the rights to air these versions. Now as I write this it is amazing how little original ideas Greek TV has anymore.
