  1. I believe he is gone as well... The bad thing about this is, that whoever may/will replace him the team will start all over again...

New coach, new system etc. which caused the Champion League failure...

This feels sort of a repeat of the same thing from last year... Except last year it was the late transfers (metagrafes).

I don't know who is pulling the "akra" but for the benefit of the team, at this point it would be better if the Board approves and signs him.

I feel that it's over, not sure why they are waiting till Friday. But if he doesn't sign, I'm not to cool on the idea of Ketsbaia.

Valverde if he does leave, I agree with GreekLunatic in that he will probably go to Seville at the end of the Spanish season.

Hopefully on Friday, it will be a good resolution for all...

  2. Farias of Paort seems to be the name that will propably replace Kovacevic but we are going to know more about by the beggining of next week.Today they was a meeting with Kokkalis+Xrusikopoulos+Theodoridis but no details about any names have surfaced yet.

This Farias from Porto, is he a good player? I have never heard about him before... Has he played on the national team of Argentina?
  3. After Kovacevic's health issues (it looks like he is going to retire) The team is now certainly going to get another forward. I doubt Tettey is going to come, at least now in the winter transfer.

That Toinonen player is suppose to be very close to Eidhoven.

When does the transfer period end... end of January?

  4. Happy Nw Year to all!!!

    Ok, now it's January!

What are your thoughts concerning this winter transfer?

Obviously, Tetei has been mentioned a lot, with the latest that the team has made an offer twice and rejected. The last been reported about 1.5 million Euro. Apparently Arsenal (supposedly) is interested as well.

Then there is also Ntiame the French 21 year old. But he too is also a bit expensive.

I believe that Kokkalis will make a transfer, maybe two, but it obviously depends on his budget...

  5. Just a quick question... If a ll goes well (and we knock out Anorthosi) and we advance to the next round, are we stuck with the same names that were given for the Champion League roster (yesterday) or is the team allowed to supply a new set of names?

What I'm getting at of course is, if/when the team gets Diogo or Brandao and/or another midfielder and goalie can they be added (while obviously removing a few of the present names)?

  6. Dudu is a great signing. Leto we will have for 2 years. Our Defense is set. Our Midfield is set. Now we need 2 great players that can put the ball in the net. If we can get 2 of Brandao, Diogo or Edu, we will have a really complete roster, possibly the best ever. But we will see... 2 more days until we have to give names for the Champions League Roster.

Oh yes, RedMagic said earlier about getting another goalie. Hopefully Nikopolidis will have a solid year, also Kovac will get some playing time and he too, hopefully is solid. Panagopoulos, I had read that the Coach wants to loan him... Maybe we do need another goalie, just in case and may God forbid, one goes down with injury.

Anyway, I agree with Evalagoal, these are great (potential i.e. until it happens) signings.

Also Crazy is right, the team has got to move it!

  7. Wow, I can't believe the delays for the metagrafes!

I suppose we can't blame for the delays for Dioyo, because his team hasn't said yes or no yet...

Now Doudou, who plays in Russia is back in the picture, ... I think that would be a nice transfer.

The team ususally has been so organized with finishing the metagrafes just around when it started! This year is unbelievable halia! Why get rid of Lua Lua & Nunez? Lua Lua wanted so much to stay, but it was Kokkalis I believe who held a grudge for what he did.

I would love it if Castillo would come back... but this won't happen.

    Why the delays for transfers?

Is it Kokkalis? Is it the inexperience of the new general manager Xrisikopoulos?

    Is it the new coach?

What gives? Or is it that for the last few years, after Kokkalis has fired and got rid of his popular players that now, this has proven to be a sticking point that players don't want to come to the team. Unfortuanately, what goes around comes around. If you treat someone bad, your team will get a bad name and now most likely, this is the reason for the long, long delays.

    What do you guys think?

  8. I believe the main problem is that a lot of the players that OSFP wants/wanted (i.e. dudu and duscher) just don't want to come to play in Greece, even though more money is offered than their current team(s) pays them.

Also, possibly the new General Manager Xrisikopoulos (spelling correct?) maybe doesn't have the same experience/influence as did Ivic. What do you think?

But yes, I agree that the Champions League is just around the corner and it would be great to finish with a few more signings in the next day or two.

I personally like Lua Lua and I prefer he stays with the team, but if the club wants to get rid of him, then get rid of him already... It's like a soap opera sometimes, it never ends.

Crespo? Wow, it would be a great signing. But I highly doubt it.

Avraam was a very good signing for our team. If we can get a very good goal scorer to complement Kovacevic, Mitroglou, Lua Lua(?) and basically find a anti-Tzole type player, I'm think we will have another great upcoming year in the Super League and also in the Champions League.

I also just read that Parnto is going to sign with Rapid (Romanian team) because OSFP doesn't want to pay the extra money to Remos.

  9. i disagree that lemonis had nothing to do with the cl success this season.

He changed the philosophy of the way oly plays in europe.

He used pao`s philosophy. stay back on d and counter. He realized that oly cant compete in europe by playing there 4-3-3 like they did in recent years. Sollied tried it and got rattled.

Pao has been playing that way for years. A basic defensive style 5-3-2 with one of the DMs dropping back as the 3rd CB when needed.

Mattos did it this year in copenhagen and simao did it wonderfully in Atletico. You cant expect teams like oly and pao to play open and compete in europe.

The typical `tsoukou tsoukou goal`philosophy which pao perfected over the years was the reason OLY did well this season. Lemonis made that happen. His only real mistake is that he continued using that system in greece, even in karaiskaki against the smaller teams. instead of opening it up to playing say a 4-2-4 or 4-3-3.

Too bad though. he was funny in his interviews, well some of them, and he was a pure gavro. we will see him next year in the super league with my guess is a team liek KAlithea or inonikos if they get promoted or maybe as a replacement for a team like LArisa if Donis comes to pao.

I agree with you, in that his defensive (counter-attack) style worked very well in Europe. However, in Greece he seemed to be very afraid to risk playing a more open attack game (like a 4-3-3). Look at the away games record (difficult in winning on the road) and how hard it has been for the team to score this season compared to previous ones (a lot of 1-0 scores).

Lemonis defensive style was good in Europe and Sollied's offensive style was good in Greece.

Anyway, I thought firing Lemonis now is wrong (wait till the end of season at the very least) just like the firing of Ferrer in AEK and the Brazilian coach (Campos?) from Asteras Tripolis... It's just unbelievable, the timing of these firings etc.

Now I don't know much of his replacement, Segouro (not sure of spelling) and what style he plays, but regardless, it will be difficult for him to mold the team to play a certain (different) style, this late in the season, imho.

  10. I've realized something here, Olympiakos can score in bunches in certain matches. Never in my whole life have I ever seen this happen in friendly matches.

This is very true... Olympiakos seems to score many goals and create many scoring oppotunities than before. I guess for the most part, the players have fully understood Sollied's system now in it's second year and obviously Sollied has worked hard on all lines (forward, midfield & defence) in Austria. I remember Sollied saying to a Norwegian/Belgian media that even though Olympiakos was knocked out last year from Champion's League (CL), he was very enthusiastic b/c he never had a team like this before.

I'm definitely looking forward to this year's CL,

I hope we get a decent draw.

I also hope all of the Greek teams do well in the CL & UEFA.

  11. Are there any Blue Jays fans here?

Even though they signed some expensive pitchers, I don't think they will make it into the playoffs, New York, Boston (in their division) are still very strong. Though Boston has to fill the void of Damon going to the Yankees.
