Antaeus7
Tomorrow will be a busy day for the Greek athletes in the morning session. Polak is the only Greek to compete in tomorrow's evening session (unless Zikos reaches the finals in the men's 60 m). That men's long jump competition was super exciting! Not only Tentoglou successfully defended his European Indoor title, but the other two medalists broke their respective NR's.

Antaeus7
Filippidis finished 11th in qualifying with a mark of 5.50. What else is new? Zikos took advantage of Van Gool's DSQ (bronze medalist from Glasgow 2019) and won the heat with 6.67 to advance into the semifinals. Nyfantopoulos finished 3rd in his heat with 6.74, not good enough for the fastest 6 time for non-automatic qualifiers. As expected in the women's triple jump, automatic qualification for Papachristou at 14.39. Edited March 6, 2021 by Molon Lave
Antaeus7
Karidi didn't make the cut, finishing 11th with 13.69 Pesiridou didn't advance into the semifinals, finished 7th in the heat at 8.31, which is her SB. Zikos will be sprinting soon to try to qualify for the finals. Polak will be contesting for a medal as the women's pole vault event is wide open. Holly Bradshaw is the heavy favorite to win gold, silver and bronze will be up for grabs.
Antaeus7
Zikos finished 4th in the semifinal race with 6.67 and missed out on the finals. He would have needed 6.63 to get there. It's was kind of disappointing as I was expecting him to do better than what he ran in the heats. Tomorrow, Tsiamis will contest for a medal. He will need to improve greatly from his season's best 16.42. Papachristou is the heavy favorite to win gold if she continues to stay in top form, consistently jumping over 14.10 meters. Spandouaki will race on Sunday with Gatou and Samani. Please let this be the year Spanoudaki avoids another DSQ and qualify at least a spot in the semifinals. Antaeus7
A valiant effort from Polak! She did the best she can to chase a medal and would have gotten bronze if she just went over 4.70. She finishes 5th place at 4.65. This is her best performance at any level in women's pole vault. Hopefully, she will do better. Antaeus7
I read from SEGAS that she was injured after her second attempt at 4.70 when she landed on the mat awkwardly on her neck/shoulder blade and had to be taken to a medical facility to get an x-ray. Pray for a speedy recovery. 🌹
Antaeus7
The results from Sunday's morning session Tsiamis - 7th place 16.40 Gatou - 6th place heat 1 7.40 did not advance Samani - 8th place heat 5 7.69 did not advance Spanoudaki - 2nd place heat 4 7.33 advanced into the semifinals 4th place 7.29 in heat 2 of the semifinals, did not advance into the finals Expecting a second medal for Greece today from Paraskevi Papachristou, but hoping for gold. If this is achieved today, it will mark the first time ever in Greek National Team Athletics history that two gold medals were won in the same European Indoor Athletics Championship. Antaeus7
Shockingly, Papachristou is in 5th place at 14.31. Was not expecting Eckhardt and Skvartsova to be in the medal position. Mamona broke Portugal's national indoor record of 14.53 and leading. Papachristou has 2 jumps left, she needs to deliver a late magic to grab any kind of a medal. Antaeus7
So much promise ends with so much disappointment! Papachristou fouled on her last 2 attempts! This is an epic fail! She will never be competitive when it matters most on the world stage!

Blackhawk
Our final roster for the European Indoor Championships: εμπ.: Ελισάβετ Πεσιρίδου (ΓΣ Ηλιούπολης), Αναΐς Καραγιάννη (ΑΕΚ) Επί κοντώ: Κατερίνα Στεφανίδη (ΑΟ Φιλοθέης), Νικόλ Κυριακοπούλου (ΑΓΕΣ Κάμειρος 2009) Τριπλούν: Σπυριδούλα Καρύδη (ΑΟ Κάλλιστος) I think we have a good chance get at least two medals. One of course is Tentoglou. The other one most likely Karalis. Stefanidi always does well in big competitions, but she has not been able to jump more than 4.60m indoors this season. Hopefully the rest of the athletes come close to their personal bests. I am surprised we are able to send 3 triple jumpers to the championships since their performances are quite low. Antaeus7
I will be keeping an eye on two youngsters in the track events. Anais Karagianni and Polyniki Emmanouilidou. Both are very capable to get personal bests. In these competitions, I have more faith with the young athletes under 25 than the veterans who typically underperforms. Blackhawk
Silver medal for Andrikopoulos in the triple jump with 16.58m. Quite surprising feat by the youngster. Tsiamis finished 7th with 16.39m. Merlos failed to qualify to the final with 2.14m. Emmanoulidi finished 8th in here semifinal heat with 7.34 seconds and failed to qualify to the final. Antaeus7
Karalis will be competing for a final spot in the men's pole vault later this evening. The automatic qualifying spot is 5.75. Top 8 with the best performance will qualify. It is possible more than 8 can get in depending on the number of athletes who have successfully pass the highest mark. Nyfantopoulos will be racing in Heat 2. He will need to run better than his PB of 6.73 in order to qualify for the semifinals. In the hurdles, Douvalidis will be racing in Heat 4, must improve on his 7.91 since only 16 athletes advance instead of 24 from the sprints. Pesiridou racing in Heat 4 while Karagianni in Heat 2. Pesiridou has a SB of 8.12 and will need to improve that. Karagianni has a PB of 8.18 and she needs to improve on that time in order to have any chance on advancing into the semifinals. Stefanidi is scheduled to compete on Saturday while Tentoglou on Sunday.
Antaeus7
Congratulations to Nikos Adrikopoulos in getting the silver medal. I knew from my heart he was determined to show he can make those big jumps when needed in critical moments. I also read that Dimitris Tsiamis could have won a medal as well had that last jump counted as a legal one (he was over 16.50). He was protesting to the judges and video replay showed his toe just touched the plasticine.
Antaeus7
Karalis went perfect in qualification, reached the automatic spot of 5.75 Q and will be competing Sunday for the finals. He is looking really good.
Blackhawk
Stefanidi finished 4th in pole vault with 4.60m. If you don't jump over 4.70m in these meets you can't really medal. And this indoor season she failed to reach that height. Nyfantopoulos took par in the semifinals of 60m and beat his SB again with 671 seconds, but was not enough to qualify to the finals. Karagianni, Pesiridou and Douvalidis all failed to qualify from the heats in the hurdles. Expect two medals tomorrow from Tentoglou and Karalis. Antaeus7
Pesiridou didn't start her race, she picked up a leg injury during training. What else is new? After Stefanidi missed out on a bronze medal today, hopefully we could see 2 gold medals to end this competition on a high note.
