HOLLYWOOD
South Africa defender Pierre Issa has signed a one-year contract with Greek first division club Ionikos Piraeus. "I am very happy to have signed with Ionikos, a team with simple people and a family-type atmosphere - something that pleases me," the 29-year-old announced after signing. "I am happy to return to Europe and to play in a league and in a country which the national team won Euro 2004." Issa had recently been playing his league football for Beirut's Olympique, who won the Lebanese title in 2003. The defender has played in the English Premiership with Watford and Chelsea, and began his European career with France's Marseille in 1995. He has won 43 caps for South Africa, including appearing in the World Cups of 1998 and 2002. Ionikos did not release financial details of Issa's contract. Quote from BBC sport....
