Damianos
Gamarra inks Inter agreement Tuesday, 31 August 2004 Paraguay defender Carlos Gamarra has signed a new one-year contract with FC Internazionale. Silver medal The 33-year-old defender left Inter in June when his previous contract with the Serie A side expired but returned to Milan after helping Paraguay claim silver at the Olympic Games - his nation's first medal in any sport. Gamarra, 1998 South American player of the year, originally joined Inter in 2002 from AEK Athens FC. Bremen opener Inter face Valencia CF, RSC Anderlecht and Werder Bremen in the Group G of the UEFA Champions League, opening at home to the German title-holders on 14 September. There goes our chance to bolster our defence. He is a good experienced player and would have been very useful. Oh well, you cant get them all. Good luck to him at Inter, i rate him as a quality player. Lets hope AEK's defence stands up!!!! LONG LIVE AEK
Kolloso_Frappe
The transfer window closed a long time ago, all this time he was a free agent pretty sure we couldnt have signed him anyway. Defence is the most worrying part of the team i rkn. We really needed an experienced central defender.
Vasili0s
As i know it the transfer window has closed, meaning even if AEK signed Gamarra he wouldnt play in the prwtathlhma till the half way marker, but he would have been OKAYED for UEFA. Either way, its over now.
Damianos
Gamarra in doubt for Inter Tuesday, 7 September 2004 FC Internazionale are set to be without defender Carlos Gamarra for the start of the UEFA Champions League group stage next week. Ligament damage The 33-year-old Paraguayan international suffered knee ligament damage in Sunday's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Venezuela. He limped off in the 80th minute having headed the only goal of the game. Gamarra had just re-signed for Inter on a one-year contract. Medical tests The centre-back, who won a silver medal at the Athens Olympics, is expected to undergo more medical tests but Paraguay team doctor Osvaldo Pangrazio said he would be sidelined for at least three weeks. That would rule him out of next Tuesday's Group G home match against Werder Bremen and the fixture at RSC Anderlecht on 29 September. All change Inter have made several defensive changes this summer, most notably with Fabio Cannavaro leaving for Juventus FC. The Milan club have acquired Sinisa Mihajlovic, Zé Maria and Nicolás Burdisso. Roberto Mancini's team start their Serie A campaign at AC Chievo Verona on Saturday night.
