PAOK in Europe 2022-2023 (News, Draws, Rankings)

After the cup final it became official. PAOK will begin the European campaign in 2nd qualifying round of UEFA Europe Conference League. PAOK will be seeded in all the draws all the way to the group stage.

We should not really have any problems in the 2nd and 3rd qualifying rounds, but in the playoff round we could end up playing against Fiorentina or Cologne.

Qualifying Round 2 games are scheduled for July 21 and 28.

Here are the teams we can draw on June 15th. Teams with a * are assumed to win their Q1-tie against an opponent with a lower coefficient. Before the draw subgroups are prepared. Last year there where nine subgroups. This means that one of the teams from the nine highest coefficients (Viking .... AIK Stockholm) will be a possible opponent. One from Maccabi Netanya ... Breidablik, etc.

We better avoid the Nordic countries with their up and running summerleagues. And Konya, Aris Limassol/Lemesos and the Polish participants.

The winner of the Floriana - Petrocub or Racing Union would be a good draw. Hopefully we can avoid Djurgardens. Given our luck however, that will be the opponent we will get.

The draw could have been better (Union), but also worse (Djurgardens).

If we really want to make our minimum goal (group stage), than we should not be worried about the caliber of the teams that were our possible opponents. If we don't go into the two games prepared both physically and mentally, than we will pay for it. Recent past (Ostersud) proves it.
