This draw would of been huge, would of had a good shot at coming first. We would of had it in our hands going forward but what can you do.

Ya for sure I was thinking a draw and maybe we can go for first place especially with a home match vs Spain Georgia played very well again they were gutted after the final whistle that might affect them making the trip to Greece.

Sweden did what they were suppose to do and got 6 points, we know Spain will be there at the end so now it’s critical for us not to drop any points to Georgia. In the last two games we played we ended up 1-0 and 0-0 over Kosovo and the goal we scored was a penalty. We struggle scoring goals and goals differential mean something in this qualifier so Sweden putting up 3 doesn’t help us at all..

Kosovo are only a threat going forward and today they lacked in the final third. Defensively they are the worst team in the group by far so we should get max points vs them be it 1-0 or 2-1 if we are focused and on our game. JVS will have them ready so there is no repeat of that NL draw vs them. Georgia are the more dangerous team they should have drawn today and could have pulled out a result in Sweden too. They looked well organized under the new coach Sagnol the former French international.

Thought id post this here, our great team of the last 60's and early 70's and how close we got to the 1970 World Cup in Mexico

http://hellasfooty.blogspot.com/2021/12/what-could-have-been-of-mexico-1970.html

Thanks for posting the article. Excellent read. Greece had a great team back then I have seen some of the highlights. Greece beat Portugal with the legendary Eusebio a Portugal team that finished 3rd in the 1966 World Cup that the English stole the trophy. Its a shame we could not defeat Portugal after going up 2 goals in Porto and the game ended in a draw. In 1998 we came so close as well Croatia beat us in Greece with a late goal from Suker and I still remember watching the final match in Athens vs Denmark were a win would have taken us to the Wcup and we were throwing everything at the Danes. Schmeichel was called on to make some big saves and we had chances late that we just could not finish.

Interesting development.

FIFA has come out and said they will not recognise Russia and has replaced the name with Football Union of Russia (RFU). No Russia flag or anthem will be allowed to be used at their matches.

Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic have all come out and stated they will forfeit playing Russia or RFU in the knockout rounds for the WC qualification. Can this mean the RFU as they will be known, gets a free pass to WC Qatar?

FIFA hasn't made a decision but it's possible that unless things change, Russia will be excluded from competing in the knockout rounds. If Russia is excluded, does Poland get a free pass to the final knockout round or does FIFA replace Russia with another Nation. Matches are scheduled to start 24 Mar.
