FYROM will participate in Euro 2021???

f***ing Lampropoulos destroyed us with that own goal against Estonia. But for that guy and the idiocy of Anastasiadis who started our B team that game, we would have reached the play off.

And this person was hired by Epo, the same Epo that can't find a proper stadium for the game against Slovenia 5 days before it.

Of course they could pick Karaiskakis you know?

They decided to search for fields like Rizoupolis, AEL FC and the terrible pitch of Oaka instead.

Olympiakos will not allow the national team to play at Karaiskaki.

The game was schedule at OAKA but the pitch is in horrible condition, so the game was moved to Toumba which currently has the best pitch in Greece. However the government will not allow the game to be played there. So we end up playing on a bad pitch at Rizoupoli. Hopefully this will not cost us.

Olympiakos offered Karaiskakis to the NT for about 14 years, it was Epo which decided to move the team from there because they had better alternatives fcking lmao.

Also what kind of stupid argument doesn't allow a game behind closed doors to be played at Toumpa? Unless there are any issues with the pitch, do these idiots of Hardalias and co think the players are going to be infected from the goalposts or what?

This is curious... The only news we can remember about the National Team and Karaiskaiki was when Grammenos made the statement that the Ethniki needed to "Move On" from Karaiskaiki. Nothing we have read ever indicated that Olympiacos didn't want the national team to use the stadium.

The claim was that the venue made it so that other ethniki fans could not enjoy watching the national team.

The move from Karaiskaki was made because fans attending the NT games were harassed by Olympiakos hardcore fans and because the Olympiakos front office became hostile towards the newly elected EPO board.

There is nothing wrong with Toumba pitch. It has been completely replaced several moths ago and is in perfect condition as was evident in recent European games. There is really no reason why the game could not have been played there, but as with everything in Greece it has to do with politics.

Yep and they choose Oaka where barely 2k people show up in a stadium of 60K.

I recall reading that when EPO tried to go back to the Karaiskakis, Olympiakos told them no and I was under the impression that was due to their on going feud with EPO.

I think EPO's original intention was to move the team to Crete but the stadium there needed work and wasn't done in time (and I guess they're not even trying to get it done now) so they've ended up back at OAKA.

If Greece wins, I want to make sure not only they get promoted to League B but they get a playoff spot too for the FIFA World Cup, right? Or does that work only in EURO qualifying?

That only applies Euro qualifying, for World cup qualifying it gives us a chance of making the playoffs through the backdoor. Basically all runners up from the World Cup qualifiers proper will make the playoffs, while the best 2 ranked teams from the Nations League who don't secure direct or playoff qualification through the regular qualifiers will make it to the playoffs.

A win against Slovenia guarantees not only promotion to League B but also that we will be the best ranked team in League C. How ever unlikely that we get into the playoffs through the Nations league, the win will ensure we've done all we can to give ourselves that opportunity.

Some points

  • If Fortounis doesn't start, this game could have ended 0-0. It's taken the 5th game of the NL for JVS to work it out. Hopefully, not too late.
  • Bakasetas finally scored in open play.
  • Tziolis. I haven't been this excited about a Greek player since Samaras in 2005 and Fortounis in 2012.
  • We are spoilt at LB; Tzimikas, Giannoulis

Why is finishing top of Group C important?

1. Automatic promotion to League B;

2. Play better teams in League B, which can accelerate the run up the FIFA rankings; and

3. Possible 2nd chance, to qualify for Qatar WC.

Huge game with Slovenia.
