Nations League #6 - Greece vs. Estonia (Olympic Stadium, Athens, Greece) - 18 Nov 2018 21:45

Like we mentioned in the other thread, a solid win can put us in good position to get into the NL playoffs through the back door, but that's just so far off and hopefully we will just make it through EURO Qualifiers. Important to build on momentum and buy into the new coach's system going into the new campaign.

Roster update: Atromitos' Risvanis called up to replace injured Manolas for Sunday's match.

What a disater this campaign has been. The 3rd division of Europe and we fall short. As it stands we are ranked 30 in the nations league meaning pot 3 for qualifiers. 30 is the last place in pot 3 meaning a loss or tie with Estonia and we could end up in pot 4 for the qualifiers

we are screwed. We will have 2 contenders to deal maybe 3 to qualify

Relax. I doubt that unlike last time in Athens we are playing with 9 defenders this time but we'll probably park the bus anyway ...

But still hopefully our defensive style don't stop you scoring 2+ goals for the first (and last) time in 2018 ?

Looks like Greece has slipped one spot to 31, with Scotland's win today.  Meaning pot 4.

Even if we beat Estonia and secure 2nd place which gives us a very slim hope for playoffs. The results against Estonia wont count meaning we stay in pot 4 for the draw? That's what I'm getting

In the Agonasports article it says we need to just secure 2nd place in the group to stay as a pot 3 team?

Turkey got relegated from League B which means Greece could face them next year.

Turkey have fallen of the map, they wont qualify for any tournament for along while. That's why they have been pushing so hard to host the Euro with multiple bids failing.

I think one of you is talking about NL and the other about Euro 2020 Qualifying draw in December.

Pashalakis
Bakakis?-Lambropolos-Risvanis-Gianoulis
Samaris-Bouhalakis?
Bakasetas-Kareli?-Masoura
Koulouri

?Or may include usual starters Torosides, Zeca and Fortounis

I am afraid this will be Pot 4. We have 6 points from Finland and Hungary games (being the last team Estonia does not count). Bulgaria has already 7 points from their Norway and Cyprus games while Norway has 6 points but they will play against Cyprus on the last matchday (Slovenia is the last in their group). If Bulgaria will be second theyll be in front of us in the rank list. Group D looks better though. In all probability, Romania or Montenegro will be second (Lithuania is already relegated). If Romania wins, our chances will be slim. But if they draw against Montenegro, or if Montenegro beats them, the runner-up of Group D will be worse than Greece. Israel and Scotland have already six points. If they draw, the runner-up of Group A will be better than us; if not, their goal difference will be probably better than our difference (our goal difference against Hungary and Finland is 3-4).

Ceterum censeo: Skibbe F***ed up practically everything (including our chances for being included in the two best runner-up teams) in that Finland game.

I hope Bakasetas is not in the long term plans...

We are 3rd 2nd place in group C. If Romania win Tuesday we will be 4th 2ndplace team. Basically killing our chances for a playoff spot if it is actually needed.

And no matter what happens today we are in pot 4.

Basically boys and girls our chances of going to the next tournament are over.

This is completely F...ED we have no shot at finishing the highest 2nd place team so we wont have a chance a the nations league playoffs regardless... We are also now guaranteed to be in pot 4 for the Euro draw which is unbelievable how low we have fallen... I cannot see us qualifying for the Euros now that we will be in pot 4.... Unreal... ffs we will miss another tournament...

basically, but it also means Greece could draw 2 very difficult teams and a 3rd team that would give us a hard time like a Serbia , Romania, Republic of Ireland, Turkey and so on instead of 2 difficult teams and a Minnow like Moldova, San Marino and so on...

Only top 2 qualify. That's 20 teams.

That is why this tournament was so important to finish 1st. The other 4 places come from this.  The winners of their groups will play a mini tournament for the next 4 spots. That's the seller. For instance group D you can have Kosovo or Macedonia qualifying.

We also screwed up 2ndplace.  So if a team from group C who finished 1st qualifies by the regular tournament there playoff spot would go to the next best group C 2nd place finish. Greece at the moment is 3rd best 2nd, but by Tuesday if Romania win will be 4th.  3rd is already almost impossible. Unless the 3 group c winners qualify through tournament which would never happen lol being 4th is impossible.

Never say never but Greece going into group stages as a pot 4 is pretty much over. Lol

we had it in our hands a group made of Finland, Hungary and Estonia. We of course s%$#! the bed.  How far we have fallen.

We probably won't recover from this. Be prepared for the next 10-20 yrs of not qualifying.
