Should one laugh or weep?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday hit out at President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who told young Turks, "Do not kick the enemy you have brought down to the ground. You are not a Jew in Israel."

Netanyahu said Erdogan was "the occupier of northern Cyprus, whose army massacres women and children in Kurdish villages, inside and outside Turkey" in a tweet late on Saturday.

Many years back Natsos Patetsos sang the song “Άσπρο μου περιστέρι”.. The current version, sung by the our prime-minister, is

Άσπρη μου Περιστέρα πέτα

στον ουρανό τον γαλανό

τ’ άσπρα φτερά σου άνοιξέ τα

Είσαι σύ αυτή που δεν ξεχνώ

The answer to your question is the following

 1) Περιστέρα

 2) Several gentlemen and ladies whose names were known only and      respectively

             a) their mother and

            b) the doorkeeper at the condominium where they rented               before they were given government positions.

It is well known that “to the victor belong the spoils".

Greek prosecutors have charged 20 people, including senior officials, in connection with the deaths of 100 people in a massive wildfire last year.

Snap elections in Greece may take place on July 7 instead of June 30 as a result of nationwide university entrance exams, which will be running from June 6 to July 2.

After the government's defeat in European Parliament elections last Sunday, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said he would ask President Prokopis Pavlopoulos to start the process of calling early general elections immediately after the runoffs for local and regional government this weekend.

Sources on Monday said that Pavlopoulos has already contacted opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis to brief him on the procedure that needs to be followed.

Initial reports on Monday had put the date of the general elections at June 30, though it now seems that this will need to be extended by a week, possibly as a result of the fact that the overwhelming majority of polling stations are set up at schools, which will be busy conducing exams.

In another thread there is a discussion about corruption and incompetency at the top. My point is that the political leaders wouldn't be able to sell b.s. if people weren't buying it. I noticed that Rena Dourou, Attica governor made it to the second round of elections.... So 1 in 5 voters bought her b.s. ...

As for the snap national elections, Syriza shouldn't get more than 4% (like in its early days)...   There has to be a serious penalty for such a ridiculous and catastrophic exercise of power   (of course this won't be the case, I know) if things are ever going to change in Greece.  In addition, leaders who try to be truthful and responsible they have to get public support.

"Υπαρχουν λεφτα"...  (only if you vote for me!)

Might be wise to invest in some future beach front properties in Northern Canada or maybe Greenland? Assuming the warming does not wipe us out by the time we can cash in.....

Or some sort of self sustaining amphibious island/boat homes?

There is no global warming don't you know?....the proper term nowadays is climate shift! Whatever happened to acid rain and the greenhouse effect and the hole in the ozone layer? The scientists change the nomenclature so that the general public forgets how long these issues have been around and that the previous stuff has some how miraculously been solved and now we have some new, more pressing emergency to deal with....until the next re-baptism of the same old problems under a new name.

You're kidding, right?

Or, trolling for a reaction?

Otherwise you're committing logical fallacies.

[it sounds to me like, what happened to the big scare of the Spanish flu?.... or, the Cold War, or Chernobyl, or...   it's all scare tactics to make people obey, pay taxes, and buy things they don't need... . it's all a huge conspiracy, I tell you....]?

NY will be like Florida soon... no need to go to Canada (at least in our life time)....  But, yeah, invest in property that you can sell for lots of $$ but where you'd go? Buy another beach-front property? Maybe you can trade your land for a yacht?!!  Actually this is my plan, to have a boat to live onboard if need be....  Safe from the zombie apocalypse too!

The problem with climate change (and not only with the climate change) is that

he who does not play fair will pocket all the benefits while the costs will be shared by all.

If I am not wrong, last June Reuters informed us on the position of India:

India will not sign up to targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions but will instead focus on fighting poverty and boosting economic growth, the environment minister said Tuesday.

Cheers!

In the NEA one can read

“The 4 ... Bodyguards against the Ankara lions

Full support for Greek and Cypriot energy positions and expansion of co-operation on security and environmental issues were agreed at the first energy ministerial conference of Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the US held in Athens on Wednesday”.

Unfortunately, only Israel and the US have the muscle to force Turkey to behave while Greece and Cyprus will be the cheerleaders of the group.

Most Greeks strongly dislike both the Jews and the Americans because they strongly believe that the Jews and the Americans are the source of their problems. Cheers!

The post-modern NATO:

  1. Macron is of the opinion that NATO/OTAN is a dinosaur.
  2. As of now, the nautical borders of Greece lie 6 nautical miles from Greek shores.
  3. In international law, a state's territorial sea extends up to 12 nautical miles
  4. The position of Turkey is that if Greece extends its sea borders, there will be war.
  5. According to Turkey the borders for the exclusive economic zones (EEZs) in the Aegean will not be affected by the Aegean islands.  Turkey and Libya agreed on their EEZs.
  6.  Greece asked NATO’s support in its dispute against Turkey.
  7. NATO is an post-modern alliance. The allies are eager to fight each other.

The müftü is Greek and patriotic!

These days Erdoğan (his grandfather was the richest person at Potamya, a village next to the black sea) is pushing 100,000+ migrants (most from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan) to Europe. The Greek police and army are fighting these illegal migrants to be and the latter are throwing stones and whatever can be thrown to the policemen and the soldiers.

As we all know, many of the Greek citizens living in Thrace are muslims with Turkish names and last names. The positive of this story is that the mufti/müftü/ μουφτής of Χanthi stated that

Today our country is showing that she knows how to say “there are bounds!".

  1. The statement of the müftü can be read in more than one way

  2. Phantis is a site for people of Greek descent.

  3. Is it possible that one day Erdoğan wıll join Phantis?

According to the iefimerida.gr, τhe Turkish side increased tensions at the Evros border this morning by suddenly and massively shedding tear gas and grenade launchers at the Greek forces. At the time of the incident there were no immigrant groups, nor any attempt to invade the Greek border. Indeed, when the men of the Greek forces attempted to approach the fence for a possible passage, the Turkish side was massively dumped by chemicals, driven by drones.

Monalis Glezos died; he was 98 years young.

When Greece and Athens were conquered by the Hitlerian army the Hitlerian emblem was seen every day at the Acropolis.  One night Μanolis Glezos and Lakis Santas climbed to Acropolis, removed  the Adolfian standard and put to its place the Greek flag.

Next morning the Athenians saw  the Greek flag at the Acropolis at the place of the Hitlerian rag.
