Trump Presidency

Yet another misspelling of a proud state.

Sarah Palin woke up today with someone else's (working) brain: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/sarah-palin-donald-trump-carrier-deal-crony-capitalism-232139

Great quote by her:

Quote

When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent."

What competition? Banks regularly collude with each other.

Banks aren't "too big to fail" because of some law - it's because we've been deluded and intimidated into accepting that as a fact. Usually by the banks that needed tax dollars (sheer coincidence, I know). Thanks, Obama.

The Carrier deal is for show. Only 800 jobs were "saved." For those workers, it's great, don't get me wrong. But every month 2 million jobs are lost and 2.x are created, so 1 thousand don't make a difference.

Capitalism has no country, so business move to wherever they can generate a greater profit. Usually it's the labor costs that's the biggest company expense, so companies calculate where they can operate to have maximum profit. Taxes, by the way, [and Indiana is paying a premium to keep Carrier in there] are not a top reason for company's calculation where to have a factory or office.

Imposing tariffs as a penalty for companies that move out of the US and then sell their products here is a non-starter for Republicans in Congress. They want to protect the American consumer, they say, who would have to pay higher prices for commodities.

More and better jobs are created when the middle class is strong, along with a skillful workforce.

Of course, there can be tariffs. But the fact is the product becomes more expensive for the consumer. It may work if you have a choice of other domestically-made products, but this is not the case of many goods. Take Greece for example; it imports most consumer goods.

Walmart usually argues, especially this time of the year, that Americans can put lots more presents under their xmas tree because of those goodies are made outside the US. It actually estimated how much "richer" Americans are by having a higher purchasing power by buying stuff made outside the US.

The comedy that will ensue for all the idiot Trump voters the next 4 years will be off the charts.  I'm loading up on Finance and Defense stocks so I can profit off the idiots who got conned into voting for him.  The labor secretary is a guy who things wages are too high, the EPA person thinks climate control is a hoax, and then you got the Goldman Sachs people who are the swamp creators.

The idiot white voter who "Hates dem' foreigners" and "Make America Great Again".  The joke was on you by the master bullshitter himself, Donald Trump.  My favorite part is the Trump voters (Who I want to mention again are idiots) are defending Goldman Sachs now as a great American company and the people appointed from them are taking a pay cut and doing this as a patriotic way to help the country HAHAHA.  Stupid Stupid Stupid.

The true idiots are the Trump voters who have shitty jobs and feel Trump relates to them.  Yes, I've run into idiots who make $9 hour who are Republican.  They will get even more destroyed the next 4 years.  Just imagine, $9 hour and these same dopes were getting subsidized Obama care on top of this and now they will have nothing.  These idiots were hearing "Drain the swamp" and Trump was flying back home on personal jet in Manhattan and these morons swallowed all the bullshit.

Anyone that votes for a candidate for social topics (BLM, abortion, gay rights) is a major Vlaka.  The next 4 years will be a major lesson to the white idiots.  I want Trump and the Republicans to destroy these losers.  No health care, $9 hour, but you get to keep the red hat.

Now I just heard the CEO of Exxon is going to be the Secretary of State.  I have to hand it to the Republicans, they find the hazo Amerikani and throw social issues at them (Mexicans, illegal immigration, muslims) and hook, line, and sinker they fall for it and the elite agenda is about to take place again.  Aek66, all year you were a Trump supporter and crying about the Mexicans and you fell for it hard.  Congrats man.  When will you guys learn that its all about money.

What happened to "lock her up"?   Maybe he'll be busy draining that cesspool he talked about...

First the Repubs will repeal Obamacare. Right? Then Trump will built the wall. Then he'll abolish the minimum wage. Then he'll do business only with the countries he personally has business in.

I wonder who's the cuck now?

But, since many cons live in bizarro world, they won't notice. Faux News, Breitbart and general Flynn's conspiracies are too much for their feeble minds. To them, Obama is a non-American Muslim/communist who founded ISIS, and that global warming is a hoax. :1eye:

First, you should capitalize properly. Voting for a republican isn't the same as Republican. Likewise, I may be a democrat but not a Democrat.

As to your "ILLEGAL" scream, most Americans, by big majority, want legalization of undocumented immigrants with a path to citizenship. Perhaps, the majority of Republicans think this is a huge issue. I don't know where you get your information, but this is an issue blown out of proportion to energize people like you. The same people who are concerned more about ISIS/ISIL (and its founder, B. Housein O.) than the lack of health care.

The best thing the President elect has ever given the world (besides in addition to the lovely Ivanka) was The Roast of Donald Trump. If anyone can find the whole show I highly suggest you see it, it is gold, and worth every minute of your time. Seth MacFarlane in this roast was by far the most hilarious roast host ever that I have seen.

Look for Trump to claim credit on beating ISIS. Sorry, I meant Dickhead Trump...

Does anyone remember Whitewater from the 1990s and most recently the Clinton Foundation?  They were both used as rallying points by the Republicans against the Clintons and the Dems. Conflict of interest, pay for play, treasonous conduct, etc. We wasted millions of dollars investigating those ..scandals, and spent thousands of hours debating the merits of those cases.

I wonder what the Republicans think nowadays with the clear conflicts of interest Trump and the people he's picked to lead important dpts and agencies of the US gov. If the Clintons had such conflicts, Trump's are 1000 times more egregious; don't need to investigate them either because they're out there in the open.

What would we hear if Obama had such conflicts?.... Or, that John Kerry was the CEO of a big industry that made deals with the Russians and then became Secy of State arguing for ..friendlier relations (lifting of sanctions) with Russia, which would subjugate national interests for private corporate interests.

"Lock 'em up" ?

Conflicts of interest only matter if the other side has them. A more interesting question is, if the Democrats regain control in two years, will they do anything about it? They have traditionally had problems (read: lack of organization, willpower) dealing with being the opposition party, after all.

Ina NYT oped earlier this week, the argument was that Dems should now fight like Repubs. It's not hard to imagine what Trump would be doing had he won the pop vote but lost the EC. Plus, we all know how Repubs treated Obama.

It'll be very hard for the Dems to win the House in 2 years because of Repub gerrymandering, while they'll be defending 2/3 of the open seats in the Senate. But, I think it'll all depend on Trump's approval ratings and Congress's. They will have no excuse if things go bad.  In my view, things will go bad, not because I wish it, but because of policies favored by Trump and the Repubs. The vast majority of those who voted for Trump won't get help from him or the Repubs.

How is Trump going to get us all killed for taking a phone call from Taiwan and suggesting he's open to rethinking the One China policy? Again, this is Trump rattling the cage. And if we normalize relations with Russia, which is possible with someone like Tillerson, then we can strengthen our hand vis-a-vis China.

I never said all that, it is meant to be funny...

You may or may not have heard of the Alt-Right whose messages and people have been promoted by the media outlet Breitbart whose former CEO ran Trump's campaign and will be his White House Chief of Staff.  Some of our members here are lovers of all that collection of deplorables.... When you espouse and support such people and messages, you are also responsible. Showing up at a KKK rally claiming you're there for the smores ain't a good excuse.

So, let's be clear who those people are, both in the video and those who post here supporting such garbage. No name calling and verbal attacks against the messenger (like the Atlantic or myself or them libruls) can wash away the stench of the people the new US president empowered and is promoting. The message is clear....

We can't normalize this evil; it goes way beyond the ideological and policy differences between the Democrats and Republicans.

A record number of Democrats are lining up and declaring themselves as Democratic candidates for the 2020 Presidential Elections in the USA.
Pete Buttigieg caught my eye the other day in a town hall meeting televised on CNN. I thought he was a well spoken young man, with ideas and values that I agreed with. He needs 65, 000 donors to be invited to the Democrats debate. I would like to see him there, so I donated to his campaign.

      This is from BBC:
Vegan protests: 'Un-Australian' activists arrested, PM Morrison says
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has criticised animal rights activists as "shameful and un-Australian" after dozens were arrested in nationwide protests.
While - I have to admit - I'm note sure where PM Scott Morrison stands on issues, It looks to me like taking out a page from the Orange Orangutan's (Donald Trump) book. Divide the country in an effort to conquer. Pitch one group of people against another and start creating a condition that is hostile to people sharing values. Probably now is a good time to break up labor unions also?
It seems that everywhere one turns, it's a right wing full frontal attack to the voice of the people.

      Inexplicable decision
Online government portal Diavgeia turned out to be one of the most important reforms carried out in Greece over the last few years. A decision by today?s leftist-led coalition government to dismantle the transparency initiative program was based on absolutely unfounded excuses and represents a major setback. The government portal allowed citizens to have access to decisions regarding state recruitments and procurements, the expenditure of public organizations and other interesting information.
In the absence of Diavgeia, what is more than certain is that the corrupt and the wasteful will once more be able to hide behind a veil of nontransparency. The removal of the transparency portal was no doubt an incomprehensible decision on the part of the SYRIZA-Independent Greeks administration.

Trump is not the problem; the DNC (i.e. the Democratic National Committee) is.
When Carter (screwed by OPEC, unpopular thanks to OPEC, and sabotaged by his own party) was defeated in 1978, the Democratic National Committee decided that the plebe that voted Democratic could not be trusted to choose electable candidates. In the future the DNC would choose its own super-delegates who would enable the choice of good candidates.
In 2016 those who read newspapers read that:
The super-delegates were 15% of the total. Therefore, if the elected delegates were Sanders 49% and Clinton 36% of the total, Mrs Clinton would have been the Democratic candidate.
At the New Hampshire’s primary Sanders received 60.4% of the poll vote and Mrs Clinton 38%, of the poll vote. Sanders had 15 voted delegates; Mrs Clinton had 9 elected delegates and 6 superdelegates. Is that possible that the the D in DNC stands for Double-dealing?
On October 30, 2016, the DNC interim chair Donna Brazile was fired from her position as a political commentator at CNN over e-mail leaks suggesting she had improperly supplied Hillary Clinton’s campaign with advance knowledge of debate-questions.
Let us move beyond the lady Macbeth aspects of the DNC. How idiotic must one be in order to manage to lose an election against a pathetic bimbo? This demands great talent. Examples:
α) Trump brags that he will bring the factories back to the USA; the DP claims that the new factories will use robots and the unemployed will remain unemployed.
β) The DP is all for clean energy. What about the coal-miners in WV? Under the DP plan they will live longer because of cancer avoidance. Moreover, since they will have less money, their life-span will feel even longer.
γ) In the US the members of every group live, on the average, longer than the previous generation. With one exception; low-class whites. To the best of my limited knowledge, the DP has no plan for them.
My impression is that Trump is not the problem. The doctor Frankenstein that created him is.

We had another mass shooting in the US, this time in Las Vegas, the deadliest of its kind, until the next one of course. Our right to be safe is trampled by the right for someone to own military-grade weapons.
We had hoped that after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, Congress would act to pass some federal gun safety laws. Nothing!  The victims' stories and pictures in Vegas are beginning to circulate now. I'll leave you with the images of the children of Sandy Hook as a horrific reminder that how a political party and its leaders are essentially in the pocket of the gun lobby.

Pentagon Officials Allowed Workers to Use Government Credit Cards at Strip Clubs

The initial 2015 audit discovered that workers spent nearly $100,000 at various strip clubs and related adult-oriented establishments, which kinda sounds like nothing when compared with the estimated $1 million spent at casinos. As for how exactly such charges are allowed to exist, the report's findings suggest that Defense Travel Management Office officials and DoD management did not properly explain how the travel cards should be used. Furthermore, DoD officials were not adequately trained on how to discipline those found to have misused the cards. For the complete rundown, read the full report right here.

The British parliamentary election is only a week away now and it looks like it will certainly be a hung parliament. Hard to predict what will happen, but we could end up with some sort of rainbow coalition of miss matched parties. What is your guys thoughts on this?
