There are some of big shot athletes on the list, including Marion jones and Zhanna Block. Antaeus7
I did a research on Stanozolol, it's like a pill that acts like anabolic steriods without the injections.
Dutch Eagle
Wow, quite a list. Shocking also. But it is a global problem. Greece is no exception. If one would make a list for Kazachstan, Belarus, USA or or or or or (name one of the big countries) the reply would be several pages long. Blackhawk
You can add Pigi Devetzi to the above list as her doping verdict became official. She has been stripped of her 2007 World Championship and 2008 Olympic Games medals in the process. Antaeus7
You never know, both Elaine Thompson and Dafne Schippers are capable of breaking that 10.49 mark at the 100m and 21.34 at the 200m. Blackhawk
You can add Athanasia Perra (Triple Jump) to the list of doped athletes. She was banned for 4 years (until 2021) after her 2009 sample was re-tested with new methods and it appears that she used a banned substance. Since she was already warned in 2002 by IAAF, the punishment was for 4 years instead of the customary 2 years.
Antaeus7
Bad news here for Ioannis Kyriazis It is reported that he may have taken banned substance while competing in the United States. He is banned temporarily until the investigation has been completed. This could be a big blow for the future of Greek men's javelin throw.
Blackhawk
He might get away with just a warning if it was in a supplement that he did not know about. Example is Baniotis in 2014. Otherwise he is looking at 2 years.
Blackhawk
Apparently a Greek female athlete that won a medal at European Championships tested positive for a banned substance and is facing a 1 year ban from competition.

Blackhawk
Depends which European championships they are talking about. If it is the senior championships from last year my bet is on Belibasaki or Kyriakopoulou.

Well he is serving a four year ban for his doping offense. He has 3 years left before he can compete again. I read an interview with him recently and claims that he is innocent and that he will return to competition after he serves his ban.
Blackhawk
SEGAS has reported that an unnamed thrower has test positive for banned substance during the national championships. If the 2nd sample is positive than the athlete and his coach will face the prospect of a 4-year ban. The athlete in question was not part of the Olympic team. Antaeus7
Any chance we may see Kyriazis get his ban cut to like 3 years? Some athletes do go for an appeal. Edited August 12, 2021 by Antaeus7
Blackhawk
I am sure he has appealed the decision without any success. He has two more years to serve.
Blackhawk
I updated the list at the top of the thread to include Ourania Rebouli, who was punished in in 2018. As for the latest case, it appears to be a thrower that competes on a team based in Thessaloniki. My guess is one of the following: Zotos, Mouzenidis, Latiflari. Antaeus7
If it's Mouzenidis, he could possibly get his medals stripped from 2018-21 depending on the doping offense. Edited August 13, 2021 by Antaeus7
Blackhawk
Turns out that Zotos is the athlete found to be doped. Zotos (and his coach) will have to serve a 4-year ban from competitions. He will be 29 years old when he is able to compete again. My prediction is that he will drop out of the sport.
Blackhawk
Kyriazis, who was banned for 4 years is returning to competition. His first competition is the Throws Festival in Tripoli tomorrow.
Blackhawk
Kyriazis came back to competition with 75.90 meters in javelin. In other doping news, distance runner Kostas Gelaouzos will serve a 4-year ban for a doping offense. He will be eligible to return to competition in November of 2026.
