State Of Mind Of Our European Opponents

Amazing 2nd leg that was. We hammered them chance wise and just couldn't finish. We got a deserved albeit lucky goal from Musli closing doing the keeper (pressing before it was fashionable!) I'll never forget Ivic and Salpi 2 on 1 with the keeper, Ivic plays it across to Salpi who just couldn't reach it to give us a 0-2 lead and probably qualification to the round of 16.

Up there with our best European performances in modern times, despite not winning the match.

We were all over them at some point. I could not believe it when Salpiggidis missed that chance. The way they scored was also ridiculous. That game along with those against Ajax sum up PAOK in big European matches.

That 4-4 game vs Ajax will haunt me forever.

The fantastically-named Tsunami (their only left-back) has been injured, and is out for a month. Presumably they'll have to play one of their other defenders out of position there. Zivkovic will have a field day, hopefully.

Oh I am sure we will make their 3rd choice defender look like Roberto Carlos.

I'm resurrecting this topic since we play till January 30th, 2025.

In order of our road to the final we play:

Galatasaray

5-0 win at home against midtable Rizespor

They are 2nd in the Turkish league and their record is 4-0-0 14:3 (1 game in hand and if they win they surpass Fenerbahçe, who have 4 wins and a draw). They have the momentum. Will be tough.

FCSB
Drew CFR Cluj 2-2 away

12nd 2-3-3 10:12

We need to hope their form remains the same till our game is on.

Viktoria Plzen

Did not play as Czechia is a mess after bad weather (Boris).
3rd 4-2-0 13:2

Man. United
0-3 away win against pointless Southampton
10th 2-0-2 5:5

RFS
Valmiera  - RFS 1-2
1st 22-3-2 82:18

They have a 3 point lead with 2 games in hand. And another 7 matchdays to win the title back to back

Ferencvaros played for the Magyar Cup (Hungarian Cup) away against Budafoki (2nd tier and I guess @pash loves their name) and won 0-3

They top the league 4-0-0 6:1

Slavia Praha

See Viktoria

League: 2nd 5-1-0 11:1

And they just sold Chechia's 2023/2024 league topscorer Václav Jurečka to Rizespor

Real Sociedad lost at home to Real Madrid (0-2 both goals penalties)

16th 1-1-3 3:6

Like I said in the match thread, I watched the Banik Ostrava - Viktoria Plzen game. Viktoria has a very good team and it will be very difficult to beat them. Still somehow we need to win. Even a tie won't do us any good.

Tottenham absolutely dominated the game. Knowing our luck, Ten Haag will be sacked a few days before our game.

Erik ten Hag has just been sacked.

Ruud van Nistelrooij is the appointed caretaker.
