GAMES: 55 WINS: 12 TIES: 21 LOSSES: 23 Sunday we play our last regular season game against Panionios at Nea Smyrni. With a win we are guaranteed second place in the standings. Any other result and will have to hope that Panathinaikos loses points at home against PAS Giannina. Another reason to win this game is to start the playoffs with as many points as possible. With a win we will get 3 points, and depending on the other results the other teams might get 2 (Panathinaikos) or 1 (Tripoli). The only problem is that Panionios needs at least one point in order to avoid relegation and will give it all to achieve this. On top of that we will be missing at least 4 starters in this game. Blackhawk
Missing this game for sure will be Noboa, Athanasiadis, Mak, Costa and Salpiggidis. There might be more. This should give the coach the chance to play some of the youngsters on Sunday. I would expect to see Pouggouras, Savvidis and Pozoglou in the lineup. What I am afraid is that the team will not take this game seriously and let Panionios play their game. Panionios will do anything to get points from this game. I see this ending in a tie. pash
I'm not as pessimistic as you guys, but you're right that this could be a significant loss if we lose points. We're ripe for getting dinged due to overconfidence, especially as we've been improving of late. Savvidis is back? Does the bankruptcy (or whatever) of OFI render the loan over, and him eligible? --Itandje-- --Konstantinidis--Vitor--Tzavellas--Rat-- --Tziolis--Pereyra--Kace-- --Mak--Dpaps--Pozoglou-- I don't think that's half bad. Is Golasa in Georgiadis' s%$#! list too? Would rather see him start than Pozoglou. Koulouris as a late sub, either Dpaps or to switch to a 4-4-2. Bananas
Spot on Yiankos. As unlikely as it is that Olympiakos won't be in the CL next season, we have to play to get the 3 points anyway, just in case.
RED SHERIFF
What's the difference in money if you finish 2nd instead of 3rd in the playoffs? The odds for PAOK or PAO to qualify for CL is 1000000000 to 1....If OLY had to qualify they would also need a miracle, they lost to a team that is at Asteras Tripolis level in quality....Out in the first round of Europa. The playoffs are a joke, just like the whole EPO. PAO and PAOK are using these matches as tryouts, to see who's in, and what players are booted to the curb. you referring to Dnipro? pash
Well, then, all the more reason to field a young lineup this weekend.
pash
This could be the missing link I was searching for in the transfers thread in this forum - how does a team like PAOK, make up the difference between its ~15mm yearly revenue and the considerably higher sums it needs to be competitive? Selling off young players (the Benfica/Pozzo method?) could be a lucrative way to reach this goal. Easier said than done, I'm sure.

Blackhawk
I agree it's easier said then done....Basically we need to master the system, and yes it takes time. The problem is that Greek fans don't have the patience for that.

RED SHERIFF
Yes Red Sheriff I'll edmit that I did exaggerate....But you did get my point, if you can't beat Dnipro, and in fact got totally outplayed....How would you qualify for CL playing against much tougher opponents? Olympiakos would have a chance to qualify, and in my opinion it would be a long shot. PAOK and PAO would need a miracle....Playoffs should be cancelled, as you can see both PAOK and PAO, the players and management don't care, just going threw the motions to end the season. Dnipro are in the Europa League Semis...hardly at Asteras level>> But hey? the facts don't really matter on these threads.... we have only beaten...Arsenal x 3, Juve, Benfica, Anderlecht x2, Marseille, Rubin x2, Dortmund, Atl.Madrid in the last few years...but hey...who cares??? RED SHERIFF
I agree...... however Our best team though was 2012..... We cant take credit away from Dnipro...they have now proven their worth...Although...I do agree that even though they are 90 mins away from a Euro final...you would back a strong Olympiakos to eliminate them over two legs...ironic?? RED SHERIFF
not sure if it takes a years... 2012 was built in 18 months Mirallas, Mellberg, Makoun, Orbaiz Djebbour...etc.. last season was essentially built overnight Salino, Samaris, Dominguez, Weiss, N'Dinga, Roberto, Siovas, Marcano, Campbell. Blackhawk
Back to the game, Golasa, Konstantinidis and Pereyra got injured in today's practice. The first two will probably miss the game. I think we will see something like this on Sunday: --------------- Itandje ----------------- Skondras - Vitor - Tzavellas, Rat Kitsiou -- Kace -- Tziolis -- Mak --- Koulouris -- Papadopoulos
Yiankos
You are again seeing a 4-4-2 formation? Interesting... Let's see!

Blackhawk
Costa is serving a card ban. As is Klaus, Noboa, and come think also Mak, so I got to change my lineup. Salpi is injured. Konstantinidis and Golasa are out for 4 weeks and will miss the rest of the season. Pereyra might also miss the game tomorrow. My new lineup: ---------------- Itandje ------------------ Skondras - Vitor - Tzavellas - Rat Kitsiou - Kace - Tziolis - Pozoglou --- Koulouris --- Papadopoulos ---
