Turkish Leagues Highlights

Recommended Posts

This is the thread for sharing goals, match highlights and other video-related material for Spor Toto Turkish SuperLig, Bank Asya First Division and Spor Toto Second Division for the 2011-12 season.

Whilst there are no limits for the teams in action, I will stay away from sharing Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor videos here, as they already have their own threads.

I want to kick off the action with two videos; one is the Spor Toto Super Lig Matchday 2 game between Sivasspor and Eskişehirspor.

Sivasspor - Eskisehir : 0 - 4

The second link is the highlights of the Izmir derby played between Goztepe and Karşıyaka in Bank Asya First Division. These two teams have broken the World Record for most fans in a second-tier league football match in 1981, as the crowd reached an unbeliavable 86,791 people then. After years of ordeals and struggling in lower divisions with hardly any money, Goztepe finally arrived in Bank Asya and the heated rivalry re-started. Check out the "trivela" cross in Goztepe's goal.

Goztepe - Karsiyaka : 1 - 1

I and the members of this forum will continue updating this thread.

Cheers ;)

Spor Toto Super Lig - Matchday 3

Gaziantepspor - Kayserispor : 1 - 2

Gaziantepspor manager Tolunay Kafkas resigned after this match.

Ismael Sosa's goal is a joy to watch, though.

Gaziantepspor's set piece defending has been awful since the start of the season. The winning goal was scored by Zurab Khizanishvili, formerly of Blackburn Rovers.

Istanbul Buyulşehir Bld. - Orduspor : 1 - 1

Newly-promoted high-flyers Orduspor stole a point against IBB who have previously defeated Galatasaray and Trabzonspor in their first two matches. Fatih Tekke gave Orduspor the lead with a deflected effort. Tevfik Kose equalised after Orduspor goalkeeper Saso Fornezzi made his only mistake in the game. Along with Fornezzi, Culio and Dalmat were impressive for the Black Sea side. IBB now have 7 points from 3 games.

Spor Toto Super Lig - Matchday 4

Mersin IY - Gaziantepspor: 2 - 0

Newcomers Mersin IY have now got 9 points out of a maximum 12, as they won their third match in four.

Getting their first taste of SuperLig since 1983, everything has gone perfectly for the Mediterranean side so far.

They have signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Hummel ($3.5M per season for 3 years), becoming the sixth highest paid team of the League in terms of shirt sponsorhips behind the Big 4 and Bursaspor.

They have wisely spent their money on seasoned players in SuperLig, signing the likes of Ibrahim Kaş, Marcio Nobre, Hakan Arıkan and Mustafa Keceli.

They have kept their coach who got them promoted at the helm, Nurullah Sağlam.

Gaziantepspor, on the other hand, are coming off a really strong season but everything has been a disaster in 2011-12 for them. They got knocked out early by a lacklustre Legia side in Europa League, and have 0 points from 4 matches in the league. Tolunay Kafkas has resigned from his position after this defeat.

Andre Moritz and Marcio (Mert) Nobre scored the goals in this one-sided game.

Spor Toto SuperLig Matchday 5

Bursaspor - Genclerbirliği : 4 - 0

Bursaspor, coming off two defeats on the trot, showed resiliency to defeat Genclerbirliği 4-0 with a dominant performance.

Ozan Ipek scored the opening goals on 44' and 66' whilst centre-back Roman Stepanov added the third a few mintues later.

Out-of form striker Turgay Bahadır finished the rout with a well-placed finish after rounding off Gencler goalkeeper Ramazan.
