Ziaka
Besides the current facelift, thanks to Athens 2004, PAE PAOK is planning on upgrading the stadium in the future. The early plans call for 40,000 Arena.
paokg4
It has to be done. For starters the 28,000 capacity is not enough and it should be upgraded to 40,000. I think every club should upgrade their grounds to meet european requirements. Could this be the start of something big in Greek Football.

Ziaka
Reports about the work at Toumba Stadium are not encouraging ahead of the 1st CL qualification game, which could be scheduled for August 10. The construction of the roof over gates 1,2, & 3 is said to be going very slowly, and for this reason PAE PAOK has also claime the Xanthi Stadium as the secondary home ground for Euoropean games. Ziaka
Here is the latest status on the re-furbishment of Toumba. As everyone knows all this work was supposed to be completed in July 2004 before the Olympic Games. The new bulding is finished, with some interior work still needed to be cmpleted. The major part that still needs to be done is the roof over gates 1,2 & 3. When I went to see Toumba back in August, they had the iron supports in place for the roof, but nothing was being done as to the rest of the roof. It is now reported that work on assembling the roof has begun and it is expected to be finished sometimes in November.

Ziaka
Here are some latest developments concerning the new roof. Unfortunately the roof will not be the latest technology as promissed by the Athens 2004 committee. As a result of budget cuts concerning the work done to Toumba, Harilaou and Kalamaria Stadiums, corners are being cut. It is rumored that posrtions of the old Toumba roof is being used in the construction of the new roof. Here is a report from Ethnosport as well as a pic from PAOKFC.gr showing the construction of the roof:
Ziaka
There are serious problems with the new roof at Toumba Stadium. During the friendly game with Panserraikos, the roof leaked in several places, when it started raining during the game. Also yesterday, when the weather was quite windy, some sections of the newly installed roof were blown away by the strong winds.

Ziaka
PAE PAOK president Giannis Goumenos had a meeting with Orfanos, where they presented him with plans for a new Toumba Stadium. Construction should start at the end of this season according to those plans, and call for a stadium between 30,000 ands 50,000 capacity. Here are details from Sportime.gr: http://www.sportime.gr/html/ent/604/ent.42604.asp'>H...
Batigol
Oh yeah.... Goumenos might as well tell Orfanos that he has a bridge to sell him as well. This guy (Goumenos) obviously thinks that there are a whole bunch of stupid people in Thessaloniki. What makes him think he can convince people that they can afford to spend tens of millions of Euros on a brand new stadium when they can't even afford the few million for a couple of decent transfers. High ambitions I think...just no common sense.
Ziaka
From what I understand the Goumenos/Pagonis duo are trying to fool prospective real estate, construction companies and banks to finance the project, and then in return let those companies utilize the facilities (skyboxes, restaurants, shops, etc.) to pay up for the finincing of the project via long term arrangements. In the end Goumenos/Pagonis would never put a single Euro into the project. The question is are there any companies to buy into this scheme. Ziaka
The new roof in that one picture looks good. Too bad it leaks when it rains. The best thing though is that the old "kolones" that were blocking the TV cameras were removed.
