Michael Katsidis new world boxing champ!

Recommended Posts

He's a real bomber with alot of heart! 22 fights, 22 wins, 20 by way of knockout! :nw: But he seems to lack ability at long-range, he's great on the inside and from mid-range but he needs to learn to use his jab. He absolutely battered Earl but Katsidis was tiring AND QUICKLY! He's can try to KO everyone, he needs to learn to box from distance. Having said that his style is phenomenal and very exciting, he's a lightweight Tyson! BRAVO RE KATSIDI, SYNEHISE NA TOUS GAMAS!!!! :gr:

I'm a big boxing fan and along with Morales vs Barrera this was the best fight I have ever seen so it really is worth watching: Enjoy Adelfia:

espn reports thst he will fight Joan Guzman a 2 division world title holder in California on May 26...

Good luck to Katsidis :gr:

WOW that is a big fight. Guzman is known as "the little Tyson" and Floyd Mayweather Snr is his trainer so he'll be ready! I think they're rushing Katsidis. He's passionate and has heart, and his punching power is devastating but he doesnt have a long-range. Good mid-range and fantastic on the inside but against an experienced fighter like Guzman he may get found out. Hopefully he trains hard, finds good sparring partners and is ready. When looking at the style of these 2 guys one thing is for sure... THIS WILL BE A WAR!

It's too big a step, too quickly imo. He needs to pace himself.

Meanwhile, Australia's WBO interim lightweight world champion Michael Katsidis has moved a step closer to his fight against full WBO and WBA world champion Juan Diaz.

According to Katsidis' trainer Brendon Smith, both parties have agreed to have one more bout before fighting each other in a title match.

Smith said 26-year-old Katsidis would defend his title on July 21 on the undercard of the Bernard Hopkins-"Winky" Wright fight at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas.

Katsidis remained in America after his title defence against Joan Guzman was cancelled, while Smith will return to Los Angeles.

Smith said an opponent would be announced before the end of the week.

This gives me an excuse to buy Wright-Hopkins :box:

Just saw the fight vs Amonsot and that has to be fight of the year the heart that Katsidis showed with one closed eye after the 2nd round and managed 2 knockdowns and won the fight was amazing. This kid has a bright future and some crazy power.

Amonsot hospitalized after fight

By Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports

July 21, 2007

LAS VEGAS -- Lightweight boxer Czar Amonsot suffered a bleed on his brain Saturday following his 12-round loss to Michael Katsidis for the WBO interim lightweight title.

Ringside physician Jeff Davidson was concerned by the head blows Amonsot took from Katsidis in the rousing affair and ordered him sent to the hospital for a neurological examination.

Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission, said doctors discovered a small subdural hematoma. He said it was not expected to be life threatening, but said Amonsot's career is probably over.

Amonsot, 21, who was knocked down once in the second and again in the 10th, is 18-3-1.

First off I have to pay respects to Amonsot. Its a real shame when someone ends up hurt, its honestly ruined my day finding out about his injury. He put in a great performance and did his nation proud with the heart he showed.

Now for Katsidis, we know he's got devastating power, we know he's got heart, but if he doesnt learn how to box he has no chance of becoming a top fighter in this division! He has no long range whatsoever!! Before he knocked the Phillipino down in round 9 (i think) Amonsot was building momentum by using the jab effectively. Katsidis HAS to learn to alternate the way he fights or he'll get outboxed whenever he comes across a top fighter. He showed great heart once again though, WE LOVE YOU MIKE!!
