  1. The Comeback of a Famous Player

On October 13, Kone debuted for Western United in a 1-0 league win against Wellington Phoenix in Wellington, New Zealand. He played 90 minutes. (Alessandro Diamanti, Scott McDonald and Besart Berisha also play for Western Utd.) The last time he played for a club was on April 22, 2018 when he played for AEK Athens against Levadiakos in the Supa League.

Look at all the 'proper coaches' we have had..one replaced Fortounis with Tzioli$ when we needed to chase the match..this guy has the coconuts to enforce change..embrace him..after all he coached in the A League holmes!!!

This guy replaced Masouras with Giannoulis when Liechtenstein scored an equalizer (and before that goal he wanted to sub Limnios on) but you are right, this guy wants to enforce change. Lets hope we will see some development.

The injury problem with the NT is out of control. Anyways I would like to see Vlachodimos get some match time and be our regular goalie going forward after all the EPO spent alot of time getting him to commit to the Ethniki.

EPO did spend a lot of time to secure his services but our idiotic head coaches often chose nobodies like Barkas and Paschalakis in the last year. Seriously, Anastasiadis and van Schip ought to be certified. (Do you remember when Ranieri chose Mantalos instead of Maniatis?)

on another note, Barkas broke his finger in training, so he's out for the next two matches which will surely be given to vlachodimos, which honestly I don't understand why he's not our primary keeper anyway.

Now thats some good news. I think Vlachodimos should be our standard keeper. But perhaps Van Schip will go now with Dioudis or Paschalakis.

He played already some games in 2015 for the Ethniki. He has had a great season so far, six goals in nine games and scored a brace last Saturday (end result was 3-3). He would have deserved a call up IMO.

  6. At this age, Tziolis had been playing in Saudi Arabia for two years or so. Makos (who was mentioned in one of the earlier posts) has given up practically his career, he plays now for a third league team at 32! Samaras retired at the age of 33. Charisteas did the same.

Avraam was effectively destroyed by that injury against Poland at Euro 2012. He relied on his pace, and he has been considerably slower since then. But he put up a good fight against Serbia in 2014 (his last Ethniki game).

If only some of our talents (Kyrgiakos Samaras) and "talents" (Ninis Koutsianikoulis) would have had his tenacity.

  7. A Miraculous Comeback

After playing for a bunch of unglamorous Asian and Australian teams, in January Avraam managed to return to Olympiacos. He played two league games last spring. This year, however, he started against Plzen (was subbed off because a lesser injury) AND is in the Champions League squad while Koutris is not! He remained on the bench last week in the league game against Volos (alongside Torosidis and Bouchalakis). Does that mean he is still somehow in the plans of Pedro Martins? It is really astonishing and testifies to his doggedness and resiliency that he managed to return to a top Greek team. Will he possibly even play in the Champions League?

You say look at you know like this doesn’t effect you... are you not a fan?? Either way at some point those guys were going to retire anyways so what’s your point??

A lot of people criticized Katsouranis back then and wanted younger players in the squad. Some of them already deleted themselves from this forum but I guess some of their posts could be found even now. Gekas, Vyntra and Tziolis also had their haters but Katsouranis literally was to blame for everything. And of course Santos who always chose his favorite mummies, created a boring defensive team that was painful to watch and thwarted the development of terrific talents like Nines/Tachtsidis/Fetfatzidis etc. etc.

  9. Performance of our guys in this rezili: Barkas 0 - Bakakis 5, Manolas 5.5, Papastathopoulos 6, Tsimikas 5 - Samaris 4, Vrousai 5, Bouchalakis 4.5 (Zeca 5.5) - Masouras 6 (Giannoulis 0), Koulouris 5, Fetfatzidis 5.5 (Pavlidis 4).

Another lacklustre production from the Ethniki. Actually, they wernt THAT bad, they created a couple of chances and Sokratis did seem to be frustrated after the equalizer of Liechtenstein. Samaris was very average though, and a sloppy pass by him led to the Salanovic goal.

On Van Schip (both games): His starting elevens were mostly quite good yet the coach made strange decisions. Zeca played half an hour in these two games while Bouchalakis Kourbelis Samaris were in the starting XI at least on one occasion. Mitroglou was not called up although he is obviously in good form (2 goals in 2 matches). Also Donis wasnt picked. They scored our goals in the away game against Liechtenstein. Vlachodimos (Benfica keeper) was benched in favor of Barkas. These coaches are literally more stupid than Skibbe. Ange A and Van Schip. This was the FIFTH occasion Vlachodimos sat on the bench out of the last NINE games! Clueless idiotic coaches have chosen the likes of Barkas and Paschalakis (no joke) again and again. One of our best players has served as a backup keeper, this is mind blowing!

  10. Okay I agree with everybody its not the coach, or at least not only him.

Dean97: I guess Sokratis wanted to win the game. In the dying minutes, he ran like hell and gave some great passes. As usual, Masouras Bakakis Koulouris and the likes were useless. Sokratis and Zeca couldnt do it alone.

Dont you think MITROGLOU would have scored at least ONE goal??? Or even a brace?

Dont you think SKIBBE would have called up Mitroglou after he scored two goals in perhaps twenty-five minutes in Eredivisie (not in the "Super" League)?

Guys do not blame the coach at all, we are an embarrassment and one of Europe’s worst teams in soccer we have to face it.. this is only on the players and no one else.. we need to start being honest with ourselves and realize we are officially a minnow and a a complete disgrace..our players are not good enough bottom line.. The coach probably regrets taking this job.. I don’t care which players you try and mix and match the results will be the same.. This team has not changed at all since the disgraceful euro 2016 qualifiers..

You are right but I regret too that they hired this coach. His CV is laughable. He was assistant coach of some unglamorous teams...  even Skibbe was assistant Voeller at the German national team between 2000-2004 and he was the real coach because Voeller had not a licence. Markarian was successful with Panathinaikos, Ranieri was famous etc. etc.

Jong Ajax assistant, Guadalajara, etc. etc. Its hilarious. As if Spain would hire Nioplias as head coach LOL
