    Martins said on public that he left him out because he couldn't fullfill the training session due to an injury.

    But either way to all of Van Ashole supporters, you'll get to see your Mantalos or Mpakasetas who can't dribble a corpse starting there 👍

    Just want to give the gaffa a go, he has to make change in some areas or he will go the way of the others.

    You prefer the Ethniki start to lose so you stay satisfied that JVS, Valkanis and Winter can't get them to win. Get abit patriotic!

    You need to stop winging like pash.

    I dlike to see a lineup like this.

    Bakakis (saddly only option) - Retsos (has had playtime this year) - Chatzidiakos - Tsimikas/Giannoulis

    Zeka - Kourbelis/Bouchalakis

    Limnios - Fortounis - Pelkas

    We need mobile players to unlock the slovenian poor defence. Players who can move the ball around faster than the opponent can expect. These 4 are the only ones who can do it.

    Pavlidis is very onesided player. Poor man's Mitroglou without the air domination and without the finishing. Put someone who can at least open spaces with his speed and make it easier for our pretty talented  attacking midfielders to get a shot.

    Bouchalakis mistake vs Porto is something that anyone can do. Retsos is miles ahead from players like Svarnas and current Tzavellas. Tsimikas needs to play vs Moldova at least to give us the idea that the coach really rates him.

    RB options would be; Retsos, Rotu, Bakakis, Masouras and Kitsiou for now. Don't know if the gaffa realizes this.

    Zeca with Kourbelis is like having Tziolis and Maniatis.

    Well he brought up Rota and had 3 games one of them being a friendly against Austria and only played the kid for like 5 minutes or so. Not sure what the point of calling him up was. he would rather put guys that are not RBs in that position for some messed up reason..

    If Ethniki don't finish top of the group they will pay him out, would of fallen on his sword. Bad luck.

    I have enjoyed listening to the show its nice to hear footie talk regarding the NT and Olympiakos.

    I listened to episode 2, I will listen to episode 1 when I can, hope there is some Ethniki content in it, along with the Greek Super League news which was all of episode 2.

    GSL doesn't seem to know when to get started.

    Yes good points, JVS especially has to get away from the Zeca- Kourbelis combo on the field at the same time.

    All the other managers go the safe route with two DM's.

    JVS must carve out his own style with a different model.

    God Greece better not slip up pot 3 is already going to be challenging enough. Oh the glorious days of being a Pot 1 team

    Three things have to happen ;

    1    Mantalos as a central player or not in the team;

    2    To pick a RB and Not a CB playing there (unless it was (Retsos-injured);

    3     To pick a Cm with a Dm, not two Dm's.

    JVS to be more attacking minded!

    Agreed. The aim was to put up a starting line up with my four best Greek players. Donis if fit and healthy is a DEFINITELY another option. I would have liked to seen more of Rota, as he looks like the sort of player who can run and link well with forwards for 90'. He's only 20. JVS should have given him mins vs Austria.

    I read it somewhere, and not sue about it, but if Hellas don't top NL Group then JVS will be let go. Interesting times.

    That would be falling on his sword. That is one way to oust a frustratingly stubborn gaffa unless he changes afew things!

    Then why doesn’t the coach do it. Vasiliadis was healthy for our last 3 games. He didn’t pick him. Mantalos on the wing doesn’t work. Maybe he should go 4-3-3 with Fortounis and Mantalos ahead of say Zeca or Kourbelis.

    I've said I want either of Gala, Mantalo or Vas in at CM, No Wing spot for Mantalos either.

    Bakasetas works if Ethniki plays with a Second Striker-only. Seeing as they don't, Baka doesn't fit in that squad, unless he becomes a striker and I don't think that will ever be his go. Maybe as a CM cause he has hussle about him, energy. He appears not overly technical for that level. The only current AM options must be out of Fortounis, Pelkas or Mantalos.

    JVS is abit slow to make change. Every other gaffa since 2014 has had this issue, they had either coached an ordinary team at the time, and/or, didn't make the right selections and fell on their swords.

    Based on previous outcomes of managers of the Ethniki, who is to say the next gaffa will satisfy the fans on the forum with team selections? He might start playing Pavlidis as a DM and Svarnas as LW because he sees something we don't..

    Would any of you guys gamble everything you have with regard to the EPO being transparent and honest, or not? The Only other explanaton would be that EPO control the managers of Ethniki cause they pay the bills, take mavra in brown paper bags and pander to the CEO's of certain Super League and overseas player managers and clubs. This would explain constant stupid team selections.

    You miss one thing over there; Lambropoulos is 30 fcking years old playing in second divisions of Germany and Spain.

    I only had him in the mix, the fact that he is a seasoned campaigner and the fact he has been rated good enougb to be chosen already anyway means others also agree with the selection.

    They could well go with either Tzavella o Lampro instead of both to be there for now with the younger, potentially better CB's of the future.

  10. Honestly with Skibbe. he was infatuated with Tziolis, with a Passion. JVS has this Bakasetas thing, and they Both have had Mantalos as a LW thing. The squad should have Lamprou with the likes of Limnios,Tzolis and Donis in it as Wing options.

    I'm not a fan of Staf as a CB, or stopgap Tzavellas either, although I do get that he needs experience in there. Retsos is back playing and the next crop look so promising, Hatzidiakos, Retsos (cb/rb), Mavropanos, Svarnas and Lampropoulos-Only as a CB option.

    The fact that Svarnas is around because either the coach have a beef with some players (Sokratis, Siovas and Manolas), or because some of them have been injured in the past games (Retsos and Mavropanos), or even because we do use our CBs like Hatzidiakos in the right back position.

    And then as the 7th option in the rotation comes Svarnas along with the pensioner Tzavellas. That says a lot about his quality and the real reason he's around the team.

    Sure but his returns are very good, despite the fact he isn't everyone's top choice.

    Svarnas being Greek, whether its him, Hatzi, Retsos or Mavropanos, its irrelevant.

  12. As I mentioned b4, Gate7 football pod mentioned Svarnas as being the best defender on average with regards to stats. I thought his hair was well styled and thats why I thought he was a serviceable player personally.

    On what basis or metrics do you guys find Svarnas not good enough in, over the past few games? I think some guys can't get past Manola, Sok and Siov have all been surpassed.

  13. Gone away from two DM's, and keep to playing players in their rightful positions.

    Like to see creativity of Mantalos/Gala as the no.8;

    Interesting stat mentioned on Gate7 football podcast, Svarnas in his matches has had the best stat of the defenders for the Ethniki in that opposition players not being able to get past him, doesn't mean he has never been beaten but he has been extremely tidy in defence.

    Like to see JVS pick this way for Nov match in a  4 3 3, can easily revert to 4 5 1 :

                                           U Grik

     Bakakis           Svarnas            Hatzidiakos           Giannoulis

                                                       Fortounis (c)

    Limnios (the best)       Fountas                               Tzolis

    Pavidis,  Donis  Masouras,  Pelkas

    Galanopoulos  Vassiladis   Kourbelis

    Mihailidis  Tsimikas  Rotu

    Barkas  Dioudis

    We definitely have to come in first in this group there is no France, Spain or other powerhouse nation in this group. Also from a confidence standpoint Greece need to have 1st going into World Cup qualifiers.
    That said there are 2 games left and Greece should beat Moldova and then it comes down to beating Slovenia at home.
    I am just annoyed that we couldn’t find a single goal today it’s reminiscent of the games vs Estonia and Faroes. The first half the team played fluid football and we should have been up 2 goals by half. Bakasetas has been better of late but he can’t finish even misses a pk that changed the complexion of the match, maybe he’s a tad unlucky with the NT who knows but JVS should not start him going forward. Pavlidis is working hard and has technical ability but he can’t finish some simple goals in the 6 yard box maybe the nerves are getting to him? I say let Fountas start and see if he can be the guy to finish off the chances.
    The commentator mentioned under JVS that we are playing better and are tough to beat since he has been in charge. I just hope he makes some changes that will make the NT much better no more Tzavellas, Bouchalakis please. Fortounis should have started if he’s on the pitch and takes the pk it’s a goal. Also maybe JVS has a talk with Manolas and sees if he will buy into his way of how he wants the NT to play, function etc. and maybe he comes back and it makes us much better in the back. Also we are missing Tsimikas and if Donis is in form there is another key piece. There is time to fix some of the issues and let’s all hope we have the best starting 11 and bench players come March because we have to make the World Cup anything else is unacceptable.

    Good calls although Donis has played around 10 matches and did't look like scoring, either does Masouras. They need more confidence and how do they get this? Don't know except play some more and hope it turns around and the forwards eventually start scoring.

    Having Kourbelis alongside Carlos Zeca are much the same. One off these positions need to be more offensive. Maybe Pelkas, Vasilliadis  or Galanopoulos can play there.

    Why has Fetfa pissed off multiple Ethniki's managers. He has not played there since who knows. I wonder why? A lack of fitness or professionalism?
