  1. The buyout clause has to be somewhat proportional with his base salary, otherwise there might be problems with UEFA's Fair Play System. You can't pay somebody 100K for example and put a 100 mil buyout clause.

His salary was increased to 200K and his buyout clause to 1.5 mil. It probably could have been bigger, but let's not forget that the player has to agree to it as well. Since prior to the deal, Pelkas could have signed with anybody in December 2015, the team did not have much leverage in the negotiation process.

  2. The above post is a copy and paste of one of mine posts in the past either here or at the old GS and is no longer accurate.

TAF Spots no longer owns the international rights to SL games. Forthnet TV that actually runs NOVA for the Greek market now controls the rights. Apparently they kept the same arrangement that TAF Sports had last season, which was divide the the teams equally between Sport Plus and Antenna Group. The only exception is the home games of PAOK, which has not approved the SL deal with Forthnet, since they wanted first to investigate previous deals between SL and TAF Sports for irregularities.

  3. I am. I couldn't open kapaki.gr, but Youtube should work.

Sorry, it's Kapaki.info and not Kapaki.gr And currently the registrations are open. The full link is https://kapaki.info/index.php?p=home&pid=1

pash I disagree. For 29.99 per month you get the whole Greek package and guaranteed SL coverage. It's not perfect and yes it would be nice to have a legal IPTV option as well and not to have to worry about nova or OTE TV to be dropped for no reason. Have been watching SL coverage on Dish since 1997. Unless something better and cheaper comes along this is the best option IMHO.

  4. Aris is run as an amateur side by the Erasitexni Aris. They just awarded the management of the soccer team to Karypidis a self proclaimed Olympiakos supporter, which basically means that Aris is on its way to becoming another farm team, which also explains the influx of old Olympiakos based players and coaching staff.

There is a civil war going on within Aris with all kinds of weird decisions by the erasitexni board. Last weekend they voted and awarded the management to Nikos Arvanitidis, the son of the previous Veroia owner, only to kick him out and replace him with Karypidis. Prior to that they voted to kick out Alex Kalas, who has been funding the team most of the last season.

If and when Aris makes it to Football League, Karypidis will have to make a decision about his ownership of Veroia, that's why he is supposedly negotiating with some Chinese management company to take over Veroia, so he can legally own Aris, when they become a professional team in Football League. That's unless the board does not vote him out during the course of the season.

Never a dull moment in the ongoing saga of Aris Thessaloniki.

The PAOK Europa League group stage campaign starts in Azerbaijan against Qabala FK, the team that eliminated Panathinaikos. If we want to have a good showing in this group we need to win both games against this team, starting on Thursday in Baku. This will be our first ever game against a team from Azerbaijan in European competition.

  6. Nice stories by everyone. Here is mine.

The first time I went to Toumba was in 1984 during my first ever visit to Greece. I have been a fan of the team since mid-70's, and of course all my family (cousins) in Thessaloniki were PAOK fans, so it was a no brainer that a visit to Toumba was a must. Thankfully in those days the big teams in Greece still played pre-season friendlies unlike today. My first game at Toumba was a pre-season friendly between PAOK and AEK. Even though it was in the middle of the vacation season (August) in Greece, Toumba was quite full. It was a great experience.

Since then I went to Toumba on many occasions. Since I visited Greece mostly during summer, most of the games were pre-season friendlies. Also saw a pre-season friendly against Aris at Charilaou Stadium among others.

The only competitive games I managed to see at Toumba was the one time I went to Greece during winter. It was against Panionios in December 1990. The other competitive game I attended was the infamous CL qualifying game between PAOK and Maccabi in 2004

  7. Katsikas suffered serious injury during practice and will be out for 9 months. He is injury prone. During his stay with PAOK he was injured most of the time. let's not forget that he also suffered ligament injury while at Iraklis before coming to PAOK. I would think his competitive career is pretty much over.

  8. Berbatov is in the squad for the game, so we might see him tomorrow. Most likely as a sub in order to get ready for the Qabala game next Thursday.

Lef of the squad were Malezas (once again), Charisis, Korovesis, Savvidis and the injured/suspended Cimirot, Antonis, Jairo.

Apparently Tudor is also thinking of starting Golasa tomorrow.

Haha food was comped but you ended up leaving way to much money hidden under the plate!

I really enjoyed meeting you and your parents. The food was great too. Thank you for your hospitality.

  11. Hi there,

Greetings from Bulgaria! My name is Ivo, big fan of Berba for a long time now.

Hello Ivo and welcome to our forum. What part of Bulgaria are you from? I had the pleasure of visiting your country in my youth way back in 1973.

I have also been a fan of Berbatov since his days at ManU. I think he is a great player. Of course he is at the end of his career, but for PAOK this is the biggest transfer in the team's history. Even if he does not perform up to his old standards, just the marketing value will be enormous.

  12. Speaking of Aris. It's official Aris will play one more season (at least) in the amateur division (3rd Division). They tried all kinds of legal maneuvers to move up to Football League after failing to qualify on the field. Today was their latest and final appeal and it was again turned down. Tomorrow is the draw for the Football League and it will be without Aris.
