  1. I think the average fan in Greece is not the one who is out causing trouble. Its the fan clubs, which tend to act like gangs, that seem to stir up or are the cause of most of the trouble. As for the owners, many of them do not appear to be saints so comparing them to one and other is probably no different than the pot calling the kettle black. I think the supporters need to be patient with ownership and should be in favor of a slow and steady approach towards building a winner. Blowing the budget for a single season on an all or nothing approach can and usually is disastrous when you don't win it all. Planning for long term sustained success by being fiscally responsible and adding quality players is the right way to go. Obviously this team still has some way to go but I think we will see some additional pieces added in the winter and more in the summer especially if we have an opportunity in Europe.

  2. What is the latest on this? Last I read, it was the Ministry of the Environment that needed to conduct an environmental impact study and issue the final permit for construction to proceed. Is it still being held up by the ministry?

  3. Hopefully the lessons were learned here and the team makes corrections and moves forward. It also highlights the fact that this is the first season back up top and its not going to be a cake walk. For many players, its their first taste of first division football and a Greek derby. They should be better prepared next time and Dellas who has shown the propensity throughout, will have also learned what he has and what it will take to be successful on the road and against the better clubs.

  4. It was a reckless challenge and likely unnecessary since it was such a tight angle. Doesn't matter now...Need to fix what went wrong and realize this team is still a work in progress.

  5. Based on the radio broadcast, sounds like the team was not ready for the primetime of a derby. Out possessed, out-shot and out-hustled. If not for Baroja and some poor finishing by PAOK it should have been a lot worse. Need to regroup and take stock of what went wrong. Can't perform like this against the better sides and expect to stay at the top of the table.

  6. Based on the hyperactive radio announcer's call of the game that possession was entirely one-sided for PAOK who missed several key chances along with some great work by Baroja. Not going to last if they don't start maintaining some possession.

  7. I don't know the specifics regarding this guy but I agree that building slowly and methodically should be the order of the day for the team. Just like Rome, this team should not be built in a day with impulse buys that backfire from both a performance and financial perspective. They need to make smart choices and build for the long term so there is sustained success and stability. Hopefully the stadium can get past the government approval process and become a reality. I don't think winning the league first season back up is a realistic goal. If it happens, great but I wouldn't define success or lack thereof based on winning it all.

  8. And what exactly will the Greek military do that could possibly help the situation? Can they obliterate debt with a tank or an attack helicopter? Maybe draw up plans to bomb Berlin or Brussels to show that Greeks mean business.  Negotiation hasn't worked, so why not some good old fashioned military intimidation? That will really get the Troika to bow to Greek demands.

The situation in Greece is a fiasco and the damage may just be irreparable. All the waffling and twist and turns are leading to a further destruction of the economy and hurting the people. Maybe the PM is smarter than all of us and this type of chaos is part of some master plan that will lead to salvation but at the moment that is not looking very likely.
