  1. eh? I really don't get this Pato link. I mean he is a good player who seems to be on his way back after some poor seasons in Europe and injury troubles. But how is he supposed to fit into the team if Benteke and Sturridge are both fit? I suppose Ings is out for the season which is a big(ish) miss, Origi is shite and Sturridge would be lucky to play 10 games max this season given that he's made of glass. I still think that Liverpool could do with a winger atm, Ibe is the only proper winger they have right now.

  2. I'm not so much of a Bond fanatic as you guys, but I thought Spectre was good. I'd put it up there with Skyfall and Casino Royale, but royale is still (and probably always will be) my favourite Bond film. Batista was good playing Mr. Hinx, and I found out on my way back from the cinema that he is half Greek/half Philippino, funnily enough I was with my Philippino friend at the time too.

I found most of the action scenes enjoyable, apart from that bit at the end when he managed to shoot down the helicopter with a little pistol. Not so much because its improbable, just because it seemed anti-climatic. But I don't think Oberhauser died in the end, so I'm guessing they wanted an ending where he is still alive, incase he might reappear in a later film.

  3. Fair play to youse lot tonite. Any win in UCL is a good win, Arsenal got battered as well.

I'd expect Oly to go through now, but it could be close if Arsenal beat Zagreb, because Bayern will probably smash Oly in Munchen. I just can't see Arsenal going to Piraeus and getting a result. Would rather see Oly go thru than Arsenal too, since it would be good to see a Greek team doing well in Europe.

  4. Looks like Erdogan's right-wing Islamic AKP party is to win a majority in today's Turkish elections. Obviously this means the Sultan can tighten his grip on the already autocratic Turkey.

We will have to wait and see how the situation with the Kurds (in both Turkey and Syria) and Islamic State plays out now. Things are getting a lot more complicated there anyway now that Russia got involved and it is not clear what Turkey or the US want to do.

  5. Jamie Vardy is the best thing to happen to the Premier League for a long time. He's playing out of his skin right now, I would love to see him go on and equal or break Van Nistelroy's record of scoring in 10 consecutive games. Ranieri is doing a great job at Leicester on the whole, Mahrez and Albrighton are great on the wings for them. Makes you wonder how it all went so wrong for old Claudio at the NT, makes the players look worse now.

Loved watching Liverpool beat Chelsea 1-3 too. Benkete and Coutinho looked great, I wonder how Klopp is going to manage all these players when Sturridge, Henderson and Ings come back from injury.

I have no idea what is going to happen for Mourinho at Chelsea though. I personally think players like Hazard, Costa, Fabregas and Matic should take most of the blame for the teams poor start. And there is also the point that there is no obvious replacement for Mourinho now, unless Ancelotti fancies coming back to the bridge.

  6.

Good video on the battle that saw the end of the Macedonians as a major force and the start of Greece being rules by the Romans. Now I know why the Phalanx formation went out of fashion too. Its an old vid since all the graphics are from Rome total war haha.

  7. Just reading an article about the alltime topscorers in the biggest leagues in Europe after CR7's record and Rush is Liverpool's topscorer with 346 goals. He was picked up as a 19-year old in 1980 from Chester City.

Ah yes I couldn't remember whether it was an English team or a Welsh team, but Chester would make sense since it is on the border.

  8. From another team. But I can't remember which one. I think it was a smallish one, maybe in Wales or West England. He wasn't established before he came to Liverpool and some people might think he's an academy player because he speaks with a scouse accent now (even though he's from Wales originally).

  9. People are saying Moyes could get the Villa got if Sherwood gets sacked. Apparently its not going to well for Moyes at Real Sociadad and the fans were shouting for him to "go home" to Britain.

To be honest I'm surprised at how bad Villa have been this season, they have some decent players like Richards, Grealish and Gestede. Also Sherwood looked like the right manager for them last season.

  10. I'll probably be able to do a better prediction closer to when the tournament starts. But Germany, Belgium, France look strong. I know Spain were woeful in the world cup, but I wouldn't be surprised if they came back again. Portugal could go far if Ronaldo is on top form, but thats a big if, he usually doesn't score as much for Portugal as he does for Real.

England won every game in qualifying and I'd love to see them do well, but I'm not going to be convinced until they beat some serious teams, not teams like San Marino or Lithuania. England have plenty of average players in their squad too.

  11. What a poor start to the season, 82-70 loss to Krasnodar away. Too many players didn't show up today. I don't know why we didn't see Charalampopoulos, since Pavlovic and Jiankovic were both playing shite.

Still there are a lot of new players this season, with Pappas and Bochoridis are yet to come back from injury, so hopefully they will get things figured out soon.

  12. Wow Spain just beat France 80-75 after OT. Pau Gasol played the match of his life, like him or not, he is a great great player. Its weird to think people expected Spain to loose to Greece, now they've gone and beat the favourites in their own stadium. What it makes me think is that Greece could have beat France if they have got past Spain.

I expect Serbia to beat Lithuania in the other semi, but you never know in this Euro's.

  13. F*** Spain won 73-71. Greece played awful in the 4th quarter, made too many fouls and couldn't score for 1st half of the quarter. Bourousis fouling out didn't help and Koufos was getting outplayed by Reyes.

Spanoulis just couldn't get going, Spain defended him really well out of the pick and roll. Antetokoumpo played so well got 12pts and 17rebs, but those two travels he made in the 4th were costly. Calathes got hot at the end, but it was too late. Maybe Greece could have tied or won it if they had another time out at the end for the final shot.

Many people were saying Greece were favourites coming into this match, but we have to remember that Spain are the first proper test this team has had and Spain still have very good players like Gasol, Mirotic and Llull. I still think Greece should have won this game if Spanoulis and Bourousis played better and if we used Antetokoumpo more offensively against Rudy who the commentator said was hurt.
