1. Ulkerspor, days after winning their fourth title after sweeping Efes 4-0, declared that they are closing down the club and will make a big-deal aggrement with most possibly Fenerbahce.   Ulkerspor chairman Ali Dogan also added that they started negotiations with ULEB for their Euroleague berth to be given to Fenerbahce...
2. this group is really strange... Cibona are 3-0, a team that has nothing more than 3-pt shooting... Penn runs defences mad and then Kus, Markota, Andrijacevic and co. cut the bill... They had 14/22 from 3-pt line against Efes in the second game of Post-Season... how did PAO mess it so badly??? they're clearly better than Benetton and Cibona and are at least equal to Efes but they're 0-3 and almost assured not to qualify to Top 8... Efes has lost 6 games in Euroleague this season and 3 of them are against Cibona... 71-77 at Abdi Ipekci at Game 7 of First Group Phase, 49-60 at Game 14 and 63-68 at Ipekci again at Post-Season Group Phase... strange... I still believe Efes' team is not at the level it once was and Tuncay Ozilhan should strengthen the team heavily next year if he truly wants a Euroleague Championship as he often says. Efes has to change their foreigners at once in my opinion. You can't make Final Four with mediocre foreigners like Popovic, Domercant and Prkacin. Granger is not the player he was once so I think they need to ink big players next year, like Marcus Brown, like Willie Solomon... They have the cash but they just don't spend it like Maccabi or Bologna dudes...
3. Is Takis Fysas playing for Heart of Midlothian of Scotland along with Skacel??? :o
4. If this is true, than we will have a super Ulkerspor team next season... Former Benetton, Efes Pilsen and CSKA Moskva shooting guard Marcus Brown is coming to Istanbul on Wednesday to sign a 2 year contract with Ulkerspor according to Turkish and Russian sports papers. Having already inked Ibrahim Kutluay, Vrbitsa Stefanov and Mirsad Turkcan, it seems that Ulker will be aiming at something big this season...
5. - The great news is that 2009 EUROLEAGUE FINAL FOUR is going to be organized in Istanbul at the 22,500-all-seater Sinan Erdem Olympic Sports Hall... signed and sealed... - Efes Pilsen's Kim Henry Domercant will sign a new contract with Efes Pilsen after the club offered to exercise his option. He will sign a 1 year contract worth €350k. - Ulkerspor have landed their former hero Ibrahim Kutluay from Greek champions PAO on a free transfer. The 31-year-old signed a 1+1 year contract worth €1.2M yearly. - Former Efes Pilsen and Turkey centre Huseyin Besok has joined ULEB Cup hopefuls Unics after rejecting several offers from clubs such as Bamberg, Besiktas and Armani Jeans. He will get €900k for a one-year contract. - Former Ulkerspor guard Ntousan Vouktsvits has joined Armani Jeans of Italy on a €400k contract for one year. - Fenerbahce have signed two promising Turkish youngster. Semih Erden, a high-profile centre, joins from Partizan Beograd and Hakan Demirel joined from Tofas SAS Bursa. - Cafecrown Galatasaray have signed Huseyin Demiral from Besiktas and Serhat Cetin from Efes Pilsen. Both players spent their last season on loans at Tuborg Izmir and Tekelspor respectively. and the rumours... - Former Real Madrid forward Antonis Fotsis is in talks with a few teams including his former club PAO, Ulkerspor and Fortitudo. - Ulkerspor still negotiate with Turkish combo forward Mirsad Turkcan. The player had some terrific performances for CSKA and Dynamo Moskva and also was a fans' favourite at his MPS and Efes Pilsen spells. Turkcan rejected Ulkerspor's initial contract offer of €800k yearly. - Fenerbahce offered a contract to former Lakers and Raptors power forward Omar Cook. The contract details were not disclosed.
6. There are several transfers in and out of Turkish teams already. Euroleague-bound Efes Pilsen are looking to put on a sparkling roster. Ulker is trying their best to keep up their players with their expenses cut. Uleb Cup hopefuls Besiktas have lost awful lot of players already and their ace Khaleed El-Amin also left for a Russian team. Fenerbahce set new heights after completing the signing of one of the best centres in Europe, Kaspars Kambala from Unics... EFES PILSEN... newcomers: Marko Popovic (Cibona - PG), Antonio Granger (CSKA - SF), Kerem Gonlum (Ulkerspor - PF) players left: Will Solomon (Maccabi Tel Aviv - PG), Goran Nikolic (free - PF), Cenk Akyol (drafted - Atlanta Hawks) ULKERSPOR... newcomers: Bekir Yarangume (Besiktas - SG), Jerry Holman (Karsiyaka - C), Omer Onan (Fenerbahce - SG), Cuneyt Erden (Darussafaka - PG) players left: Serkan Erdogan (Tau Ceramica - SG), Kerem Gonlum (Efes Pilsen - PF), Tutku Acik (Turk Telekom - PG), * * Ulkerspor released all their foreign players from last season (Vukcevic, Zukauskas, Praskevicius, Stombergas, Glover) BESIKTAS... newcomers: Baris Ozcan (Tuborg Izmir - SG), Murat Didin (Opel Skyliners - Headcoach) players left: Khaleed El-Amin (Russia - PG), Ratko Varda (free - C), Haluk Yildirim (Turk Telekom - SF), Erkan Veyseloglu (Tuborg Izmir - SG), Bekir Yarangume (Ulkerspor - SG), Brett Maher (free - SF), Andrew Ellis (free - C) FENERBAHCE... newcomers: Kaspars Kambala (Unics - C) players left: Omer Onan (Ulkerspor - SG), Marc Salyers (free - PF) ... there are some rumours and Summer League stuff as well. Ulker is believed to be chasing two former Panathinaikos-players Dejan Bodiroga and Ibrahim Kutluay. Henry Domercant may leave Efes Pilsen as he şs superbly performing in the Washington D.C. Summer Legue (18.6 ppg) and there's also a rumour linking Bootsy Thornton to Ulkerspor if Kutluay doesn't turn up. We'll wait and see!!!
7. By the way, once great Donis started to coach a 'C' Division team after his retirement. Donis was coaching, if memory serves me correct, Ilisyakos in 2002-2003...
8. You forgot the most talented right-sided Greek player ever... Where's Konstantinos Kiassos???    Was at Iraklis a few seasons ago but I actually do not know where he's right now...
9. two bad news about our basketball teams... :(  one of them is short-term. Besiktas parted ways with their influential centre Ratko Varda after he threw off his jersey after being substituted in the game against Efes they lost 78-93 in the TBL Finals Series. the second one is long-term and probably worse. Ulkerspor decided to cut their basketball branches' expenses and have already let their foreigners free. They also offered their Turkish players half the contracts they already have. Ntousan Vouktsivis, Eurelijus Zukauskas, Virigilijus Praskevicius and Sauilus Stombergas already parted ways as stated above, and it's believed that some players are more than willing to leave after this decision. It's rumoured that Serkan Erdogan, Kerem Tunceri, Kerem Gonlum and coach Ergin Ataman already arranged their moves for the next season. Serkan is rumoured to be leaving for CSKA and Tunceri is bound to join Pamesa according to reports.
10. Fenerbahce defeated Besiktas 2-1 to advance thru to the FINAL-FOUR of the FIBA Euroleague... Fenerbahce also proposed a bid to organise the FINAL-FOUR in ISTANBUL... Efes Pilsen has to win against AEK oherwise they're out! But I think that Efes will have an esasy game vs AEK... They will qualify to meet with Climamio Fortitudo yet again!!! Ulkerspor visit Cibona and a win is required, too. But a loss by at most 6 points could also bring Ulkerspor a last 8 ticket... Unfortunately, they will have to deal with CSKA in the Quarters, if they go thru, and the home advantage will be with the Russians...
11. EUROLEAGUE SECOND PHASE MATCHDAY ONE EFES PILSEN-TREFL SOPOT: 86 - 62 MACCABI ELITE-ULKER: 90 - 59 FIBA EUROPE LEAGUE LAST 16 PLAY-OFFS BESIKTAS JK-VITTEL STRASBOURG: 89 - 71 (Besiktas Leads Series 1-0) FENERBAHCE-HAPOEL: 83 - 71 (Fenerbahce Leads Series 1-0) TUBORG PILSNER IZMIR-AZOVMASH: 90 - 101 (Azovmash Leads Series 1-0)
12. ok, here's the draw for our teams in EUROLEAGUE TOP-16... GROUP G EFES BENETTON TREVISO AEK TREFL SOPOT - I personally think that Efes will qualify from this group as the leaders cause Sopot and AEK are teams that will simply melt in the super defence of Efes and I only see them losing maybe once, vs Benetton in Italy... But don't forget even Ulker beat them 65-50 away... Good draw. GROUP E ULKER CIBONA VIP MPS MACCABI ELITE TEL-AVIV - A really tough group to call but I would go for a Maccabi - MPS qualifier cause Ulker 'ALWAYS' sucks in crunch time and Cibona has already reached its aim...
13. Ibo joined PAO for the remainder of the season... ;)
14. ULKER - TAU BASKONIA : 86 - 73 It's so far a good week for Turkish Basketball in Europe as yesterday Ulker did enough to secure a Top-16 spot after easily beating Tau Baskonia Ceramica 86-73 in front of 4,000 fans at Abdi Ipekci Arena... PARTIZAN BEOGRAD - EFES PILSEN : 49 - 74 And in the game that just finished Efes Pilsen had a supreme second half against Partizan Beograd as they tore the Serbs apart 49-74. Beograd led 34-32 at the half and this means a total of 15-42 second half in favour of Efes... FENERBAHCE - NOVOSYBRSK : 81 - 63 And today Fenerbahce rolled past a lacklustre Novosybrsk side at Caferaga Sports Hall, as they claimed their spot in the Final of Women's Euroepean Cup Southern Conference. They will meet the Israeli team Hasharon in tomorrow's final...
15. Ibrahim Kutluay and Seattle Sonics cancelled their contracts and Ibo is a FA now...
16. well, currently Ulker, Besiktas and Efes are tied for first-place with a record of 11-2 each and Fener is fourth only one game behind them, 9-3... only Galatasaray sucks cause the wallet is full of s-h-i-t in stead of money!!!
17. Fenerbahce's win over Efes Pilsen about a month ago was a surprise, surely. But what about this??? League leaders Efes Pilsen (12-1) lost out to bottom club Buyuk Kolej at Abdi Ipekci Arena earlier today... The 73-78 scoreline already shocked the entire Turkish Basketball World and has become the biggest win in TBL for years!!!
18. Ulkerspor have reached an agreement with former MPS and Olympiacos guard Dusan Vukcevic. The contract binds Vukcevic to Ulkerspor until June 2006 and Vukcevic is reportedly earning €150k in the first six months and €350k in his second season... However Ulkerspor kept the right of releasing his contract monolaterally between April 2005 and January 2006... Dusan became Ulker's six foreigner after the earlier arrivals of Virgilijus Praskevicius, Eurelijus Zukauskas, Saulius Stombergas, Dion Mohammed Glover and David Jackson...
19. DYNAMO BK - TURK TELEKOM: 106 - 69 As expected, a full-steam Dynamo side thrashed a desperate Turk Telekom in the eighth game of ULEB Cup group encounters. With this loss Telekom is now 0-8 and has guaranteed a last-place finish!!! ELAN BEARNAIS PAU-ORTHEZ - ULKER: 82 - 80 A silly defensive error by Eurelijus Zukauskas with 2.1 secs to go paved the way for a Pau win after Ulker led for about 32 mins of a game they clearly dominated... Ulker is now 5-4 and tied for second in Group C with PAO and Benetton Treviso. EFES PILSEN - CLIMAMIO FORTITUDO: 79 - 73 As the 'Istanbul-hero' went on to dominate the court yet again, Efes beat Climamio in style to gain sole possession of first place in Group A, after the 'Istanbul-hero' Willie Solomon had a superstar's performance of 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.... Nikola Prkacin also looked instrumental with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists... Efes improved to 8-1 and is currently the second winningest team in EuroLeague after CSKA who is 9-0...
20. he's already drafted by an NBA franchise. I don't remember which team but it could be Trail Blazers or Grizzlieswith the best preference... Actually, I haven't seen anything worthy of that guy. He has a huge size compared to most of European Centers but he is not playing enough to improve. He needs some shooting training I believe cause even in pre-game training he had visible problems with his shooting skills...

22. Buyuk Kolej-Erdemir: 96-73
23. Turkish Basketball League - Matchday 10 Galatasaray-Tuborg: 75 - 82 Besiktas JK-Turk Telekom: 89 - 67 Pinar KSK-Tekelspor Istanbul: 87 -90 On Sunday four games will be played... Fenerbahce (7-2) v Ulkerspor (8-1)... I favour Ulker in this game... Banvitspor (3-6) v Efes Pilsen (8-1)... Efes clearly... Buyuk Kolej (1-8) v Erdemir (5-4)... Erdemir will win at least by 10... Darussafaka (2-7) v I.T.U. (4-5)... Hard to call... OK, I.T.U. wins...
24. ADECCO MADRID - EFES PILSEN: 61 -66 A great team effort gave Efes a vital win where all players added something to the stakes... The most notable statistic was probably 17 points from Goran Nikolic who rarely takes the stage to be top scorer in a game... Good Job Guyz!!! :nw:
