  1. The box is fast maybe SOME customers do not have the proper internet connection to view the content ....

Apparently I am not the only one.

I have a 35 mbit connection with the only other device running in the house is a laptop. I never claimed that I had a problem with the connection or that the picture of the channels have any problem or that the picture freezes.

I just said that some of the channels (MEGA COSMOS, STAR INTERNATIONAL, MEGA CYPRUS, RIK SAT and a couple of others have a video - sound sync problem.

Either fix the problem or don't offer the channels in the package.

Also there are more features that are being tested on the new box...

Which is catchup tv... You will be able to go back 14 days on various channels from Greece.

As far as EPG is concerned if customers arent happy we will change it to the liking of the customer.

Instead of developing/testing new features why don't you spent time fixing the existing ones first.

The EPG does need some work. A simple channel/time grid will be perfect.

Dont be surprised when going into a Germanos in Greece or a kotsovoulos, and its mandatory to get Ellas TV built in your TV. Hint Hint

Are you saying that we would have to get a TV from Kostovolos in Greece and bring it here in the US in order to watch our Greek channels? :)

Look at NOVA perfect example $75 a subscription in Greece, government got involved and told NOVA, you need to step up with the future.... and guess what Nova Eppegia comes out for as low as $9.99 (that is IPTV for NOVA by the way)

These satellite companies are called sharks

If Nova Eppegia( IPTV for Nova) costs $9.99 why does ELLAS TV cost $49.99?

I have been with Dish Network since 2001. I never had a problem with them and surely if MEGA had not made the worst mistake by leaving them we wouldn't be having this conversation to begin with and everyone would be happy.

And speaking of Dish Network for $24.99 you get all the channels you need, except MEGA of course but still with DVR capabilities and so on. So where is the "shark" part coming into this?

A Dish Techician could be in my house the next day, free of charge, and fix any technical problem I might have. Would you ever have a technician come out for support? When I called and mentioned the MEGA COSMOS issue, the answer I got was "Hm that's strange, I am watching it here and it works fine".

I am a software engineer and this is like saying to a Quality Assurance person that failed one of your items, "Oh it works on my computer". That's actually a inside developer's joke!

I can leave with the Receiver / Remote issues but the video/sound sync problem would have to be fixed. And please display the channel number currently selected on the receiver, or have a display button that shows some information on the screen at least!

    Totally agree with you!
  2. Finally I gave up and order the EllasTV box. It should be comming any day now. I am getting rid of the Greek Elite Pack on Dish and The MEGA from Home2US. For the same money I can get the family pack and no 2nd dish on my yard.

They said they have the Greek channels at their regular time as well as with an 8 hour delay.

  3. I agree.  I even said the same thing.  Its like Coca Cola to pull all their products from Walmart and only sell them through a local party store.  Home2us probably won't have any Greek channels within 2 years.  They should all go back to dish where the customer base is.  Very few people have the energy and patience to chase Greek channels around the various satellite companies that nobody knew even existed.

    Amen to that!
  4. Dish Network has moved the Greek TV & radio channels from the 600's & 900's to the 9000's.

    Here is the new lineup:

    ANT1 ch. 9829

    ERT ch. 9830

    ALPHA ch. 9831

    ANT1 PRIME ch. 9832

    ANT1 RADIO ch. 9833

    ERA-5 ch. 9834

    ERA SPORT ch. 9835

    NET 105.8 ch. 9836

    RYTHMOS RADIO ch. 9837

    SUPER SPORT FM ch. 9838

I guess this was the only location they can group all the channels together. In the mean time, the old locations are still operating.

  5. Hello everybody

I recently had a technician come out to reconfigure my Dish Network hardware so I can be on the new satellite and continue to receive my Greek channels. I was told that this service call was free when I scheduled the service but now Im being charged $95.  The customer service agent said that they would waive the fee if I agreed to a $6 per month protection plan which is truly unethical.

I was wondering if the letter that was sent out in July from Dish Network asking everybody to change to the new satellite mentions a service charge.  Also, I was wondering if anybody still has that letter.

    Thanks!

I wasn't charged a service charge because I've been paying a $6 per month protection plan for over 3 years. In the letter, however, in small print it states "there are no equipment upgrade fees or service call charges associated with this program. However, a small number of customers may see a slight increase in their monthly additional outlet fees". I still have that letter if you have any other questions. And for the record, they only replaced my dish. The receiver(311 model) remained the same (check out my previous posts on this topic).
  6. Forget how many tv stations there are. I've always wondered why 1 city (Athens) publishes so many newspapers. Who the heck reads them all? Here in the states, most cities have 1-2 major newspapers, in a country of 300+ million vs. Greece w/ only 10-11 million habs. It baffles me that all these Greek newspapers are still in business!

  7. That is interesting, so it seems the Zap2it schedule is worthless. Would be interesting to hear from a current subscriber to see what is going on then.

Why is this channel's programming guide on Dish Network's page?

    What is their website's address?

It is not on the Dish Network page. You must have your provider/location set to Dish Network on Zap2it, which is why it takes you there. Try clearing your cookie then visiting the link. Their website is http://www.ngtvonline.com
    Thanks for the info, Grk101.

Never heard of this channel until now, but that's because I don't live in New York. From what I see on these posts, seems sort of a good alternative if you don't want to subscribe to 7 different channels. But I haven't seen this channel to make my own judgment. I guess whoever lives in New York would have a better idea.

  8. I found their schedule on Zap2it: http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZC...551&channel=545 From the looks of it, it seems their schedule still consists of programing from ERT, Mega, Alter, and Alpha. Strange that their website does not mention it anymore though. Maybe it is a prelude of things to come?

Why is this channel's programming guide on Dish Network's page?

    What is their website's address?

  9. The new TV season is underway in Greece and Alpha has decided that it could no longer compete in the morning with "Pano stin Ora" coming in dead last in the ratings amongst the other am information shows and "Kafes me tin Eleni" always in 3rd place behind Mega & ANT1. "Kafes me tin Eleni" is now simply "Eleni" and airs at 1pm (Greek time) & "Deste Tous" at 4pm. "Pano stin Ora" has been canceled. As for"Kous Kous to Mesimeri", its future is uncertain.

On Alpha Sat in the US

"Eleni" airs live at 6am ET and repeats at 1250pm ET.

"Deste Tous" airs live at 9am ET and repeats at 3pm ET.

  10. On another note, Home2US lost their Croatian & Serbian programming on Oct. 1 as Euro-World Network has moved those packages back to Galaxy-19. They are now left with only the Albanian and Greek channels which makes me wonder what kind of viability this service has long term?! Dish Network & GlobeCast World TV pretty much have a lock on international television in North America as they carry popular channels from almost every part of the globe. I wonder what the future holds for this service, not sure what other channels are out their for them to add that Dish or GlobeCast don't already carry?!

Something tells me that the Greek channels won't last long on Home2US. I'm always hoping they'll come back to Dish.
  11. Out of fairness, I am posting what ended up happening with this:

Wherever TV's customer support did contact me and they offered me a free month, and also went over the problem. They said they were monitoring the program on their pc and did not notice problems, but the problem happens when you watch on Roku, on the TV (again, why would I pay $30 to watch on my pc?)

In the last 30 days it only happened twice, while the rest of the time quality is very good. When it does happen, Roku's app for Wherever TV seems unable to handle the out-of-sync problem with sound and picture, and only reloading the app helps. However on these two times when it was happening, I had to reload a lot. Picture quality for ERT and MEGA are excellent about 95 % of the time, while STAR seems to not have as good a feed, but still decent.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate it?
