    oh i c....i thought stoltidis refused to play for the ethniki in 06-07 and was banned for 3 superleague matches as punishment....I like stoltidis (from what i have seen) even though he is red

    yea i never got why he was there, i mean that OG last week was the icing on the cake....

    but arent there (or recently inn the last 5-10 years) players who are amazing that arent played in the NT because of a) money disputes, B) they told otto to go F*** himself (was that Tsiartas?) and or they are just never picked due to political reasons...

    i mean wasnt there a guy zikos who kicked ass and never played for the ethniki?? and wasnt eleftheropoulos a starting keeper at AC for a while and never put ahead of george clooney??

    i mean i could be wrong im relativly new to the ethniki (yes i converted after the euro04 but i followed from 03!!!) but my greek teacher always said there were better Greek players that never played for the ethniki....man tsiartas has balls for telling otto to F*** himself...but i guess otto won that battle

    Spain will play whoever finishes 2nd in Group B. South Africa will play the Group B champion, Iraq and New Zealand are out

    enough of the KIWI bashing!!!!

    NZ played very well yesterday, NZ were unlucky not to score on a cowardly Iraq team who only concieded 1 goal in 270 mins of football with their 6-4-0 formation. I think NZ showed that they can at least be competitive with an asian team.

    so what we didnt win a game??? we took the point !!!!!!!!! our first ever point in a FIFA competition for senoir mens team!!!!!!!!! WE DIDNT LOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    actually GS, Killen had an atrocious match with about 4 chances. One went about a foot wide, the others were just weak. SMELTZ had 3 chances 1 was a header that was a pubic hair from the post, the other was a one on one that was just a scramble that he miss timed and he also fired one at the keeper. AS did bertos and Old with 30 m shots straight at the keeper.

    When NZ started this tournament they were seriously depleated in the defense they were without NElson or Sigmound (who came back for the iraq game, what a difference he made too) and this meant that veiselich was called out of retirement to play and Boyens (who is 19 and was on debout i think) had to start against SPAIN, put yourself in thier shoes, after playing in the A-league and then taking on Torres and Villa....pftt forget about it.

    UNfortunatly smeltz and killen were at times useless because on NZS terible midfeild play but SMELTZ is a really good striker and has proven numerous times in the A-league, i think AUSTRALIA would start him too.

    anyway, i think people should stop the kiwi bashing, i mean its quite childish. NZ are s%$#! at football, its about the 6th sport on our list we know it and so do you.further these last few years have been positive with the youth WWC held here and NZ winning their first ever game V colombia, the youth team u19 made the nxt WC, and notably the creattion of the phoenix. I think in time NZ will develop( if the phoenix actually get their s%$#! together)

    However, NZ can compete at sport internationally and for a country with 4 million we do well to be.....no1 at rugby, up there in cricket (3-6), netball world champs in 2003 (atm no 2 i think), nz has had 2 really good BASketball WC runs of late (2002 made the semis, lost to germany in the 3-4 playoff), Also numerous athletics triumphs and in cycling as well to name a few (hamish cater won the triathilon gold in athens and numerous WC titles).

    thats just a few of the top of my head.

    oh by the way, the mighty wellington phoenix were the most represented club at the tournament!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ok i'll tell you a funny story, one of those moments of briliance by a member of the public;

    I was in the centre of Wellington NZ when the rugby 7s world curcit was on and there was a south African fan (a true Yarpie) shouting YES WORLD CHAMPIONS SOUTH AFRICA!!! WE ARE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    - and before you knew it a bloke on the other side of the road yelled out

    YEA IN RAPE AND MURDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ...that shut the yarpie up.....

    i couldnt stop laughing, one of the funniest calls from a random I have ever heard.

    I think SA was meant to have the 2006 WC but there was some unde the table BS from the people who decide the final hosts, in fact to make NZ more unfavourable i think ONE of them was the NZ official.....

    I think it will be fine....the usuall fifa rigging will go on, england will lose in the 1/4s by penalties, SA will make the semis and NEW ZEALAND and GREECE will loose all their games, ALSO Im sure the SA government will sweep aside all the "poor and shanty town" people and give the world a false view on what SA is actually like just like any nation who'll hold it. I mean brazil is up in 2016 isnt it??? they are basically as bad as each other arent they?? I mean no offense here but the crime rate in RIO is up there with SA im sure

    I beg to difer drakos, Oceania deserves a play off and its what they get a play off against asia 5 or south american 5th alternate years. You cant discriminate against small teams in a world cup. if so we should say no to teams like cyprus, goergia, faroe islands and andora.

    To be honest Spain would have demolished most european teams the way they played, mostly school boy eras from NZ but Spain at the moment are unstopable - they just beat iraq who played a cowardly 6-4-0 . im sure cyprus or leichtenstein would have copped a good 4 or 5-0. the fact is NZ has so few mega talented players when one key man is out the team is seriously hurt...basically we have no depth especially in the defense with no ryan nelson we are screwed....theres a reason he gets paid $8 million by rovers.

    The real competition is the Euro for European nations, do we really care about the WC?? i mean it would be loverly for Greece to win it but iv always seen the WC like the olympics.

    When NZ qualified in 82 they set numerous records for being undefeated and set the highest score in a WC qualifier at the time 13-0 V Fiji. ALSO NZ NETTED 2 GOALS at the WC

    mark my words NZ will win a game this confeds cup!!! LEO the GREEK BERTOS will score the easiest most ludacris goal to beat iraq 1-0!!!! i had a dream about it!!!!!!! hahahaha

    You can easely say that a player who was a regular both at Manchester United and Real Madrid and who is going to play for Milan AC is much better than a random Greek player.

    yet that player has NO euro or WC medal !!!!!!!!!!!!

    BMX and Surfing are more of an olympic sport than most as it is won by the fastest competitor, like the running. Events may prove athleticsm and stregnth but if you go on the ancient way then BMX is more olympic than...gymnastics, diving, horse riding (in most cases) all team sports, shooting etc

    that determind a sports "olympic-ness"

    anyway who cares, my vote is for poll dancing in 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats a sure bronze for Greece

    I have to agree with the above, the olympics has become too dominated by money!!!! and greedy corperate filth that waste millions and billions on advertising!!!!! it has become a corperate circus and the true meaning was lost about 2100 years ago....I think that the olympics should remove the medals (well at least the bronze and silver), make it be about the honour of competing and not for a "prize". people now are too consumed with winning medals than anything, a good example would be NZ rower mahe drisdale who literally had the shits (beijing belly) when he competed in the final and got bronze he said "im up set i didnt get the gold" ffs mate you had the shits!!!! f*** if i had been spewing and shitting my guts out and won bronze i would be a happy camper..

    i dont think I 'll watch the london games, im sure by 2012 i wont be able to afford a TV hahahaha

    no offence to any yanks here but the batton relay dropping fiasco was hilarious, that is what the olympics is all about. Seeing people who have trained for 4 years day and night to completely screw it up in 0.1 seconds of stupidity.

    Brain melt of the year would go to the USA women though, after seeing the men cock up in the PRELIMINARIES!!!!!! how could they mess it up too???

    I bet the jamacan chicks did it on purpose so their USA friends didnt feel so bad, i mean they absolutely slaughtered them in the actual 100m race....

    anyway i agree good ridance.....

    well my friends, NZ has 9 medals......just saying we/they only got 4.1 million people.

    last olympics the Greek team would have been in a prime spot to win medals, i mean they do live in the host country. this time less atheletes, less chance.

    How Ironic the country who invented the damn thing are the ones who lead the doping table......

    yea i would these rankings mean nothing, any team low ranked team can beat a high ranked one on their day. FOR FUKS SAKE AUSTRAILIA beat us that doesnt mean they're better than us :blink: .
