  1. For the record, Alafouzos isn't PAO's official owner. He's a caretaker (even though he's put in a good chunk of money himself to save the team a few years ago). He could leave tomorrow and PAO would be in the shitter. The reality is Alafouzos saved this club from the abyss. He stayed when everyone else jumped ship, proclaimed himself the de facto equivalent of the Troika and cleaned up PAO's financial situation. He has made mistakes. But he's admitted those mistakes as well. He's said he knows nothing about soccer and put people in charge of making the soccer decisions. It's disappointing that PAO didn't qualify this week but ultimately it's not the end of the world. Just a slight detour. This has always been a project from the start. This is year 3 of Anastasiou. I'd like to use what he can do with the team when everyone is healthy and established. It's still very early inext the season and there isn't any real cohesion yet. I think ultimately we are going to have a very good team this year.

  2. Gamiseta mas re Lamiara. Like my 63 years old mother set in her own old ways Shame on you for even bringing the family's name back into the conversation It's frustrating for all of us that we didn't quality. We have a good chance to get to Europa now and we MUST make it and ALSO play well. Hope we learned from our mistakes now because there are no other mistakes to be made and this is a very crucial year for us. Team has showed progress over the past 3 years any way you want to see it. Some were talking about relegation the first year........ The transfers made are good but who expected all 6 to start during the first 2 game of the season. Had we lost again some would have blamed Anastasiou again for starting all 6 causing disruption to the team kai m*****es toumbana. Truth be told that he has big responsibility for how the team looked after the 2-0 with no plan B and fighting spirit. Alafouzos has been delivering what he has promised. You like it or not. I said last year that this summer you and I could call for his head but he has forked our some money. Is it enough? No. But do you expect him to spend 15-20 million when the Greek league is corrupt( things are changing - trust me and you will see soon) and a CL spot is not guaranteed Some Oly fans will spew venom of course for OBVIOUS reasons Restart Aug 20th

  3. I ve been listening to the whole Marcelinho thing in this topic. I know he is Brazilian and I also know that he was never capped in any Brazilian National Team. So my question is: A) does he have Greek citizenship ? B ) Can we cap him ? C) Panathinaikos No. 10: Zeca got Greek Citizenship during Easter. He has only been capped with Portugal U23, can we take him as well ?

  4. There you go Karagounis released "yia sovaro logo" for a very serious reason. He is guilty to some degree of something and we'll probably never know the truth. You will see better results now that he's gone. Should have let him go off into the sunset after his final game at last years World Cup. Team will be much better off without him.

  5. As well he should. I just don't believe some of the sitters he misses. Tudor should make him stay an additional hour after practice just to make him improve his finishing.

  9. We are not West Ham - we want these international matches. We'll beat these guys, but they need to be taken seriously. Hopefully Toumba will be rocking

  11. I must be missing something about the tone of your posts. Surely you're a parody. I don't think anyone would be seriously posting the stuff you do.

  12. PAO, AEK and PAOK are all a work in progress, and that's being generous. Olympiakos to win, and comfortably too.

  13. Dang Dutch Eagle, I was watching the draw live and must have posted 10 seconds after we got Brondby, and you still beat me to it!

  14. That would be a huge win, but I think they'll get smashed. Would feel great to give the Turks that black eye though

  15. If we can't beat any of the above teams, then maybe we shouldn't be in the group stage of the Europa. PAOK being PAOK, get your pacemakers serviced just in case.

  16. @Blackhawk. Maybe I was disappointed with our small roster when I wrote "No Vitor" or I could also have been tired after practice and the time of writing (around midnight in Holland) but maybe he is allowed. Have not heard how many games he was suspended, but 1 should be normal for this kind of foul. @Pash. The straight reds go to the disciplinary council of UEFA. Could be 1 for tiny fouls or more/much more depending on the referees and oservers report and the kind of foul.

  18. I'm for evolution, not revolution. If we update the squad by 4-5 players each euro & world cup we'll have a fresh new squad every 4 years. That's sufficient to adhere to overall class & let the lads get experience under their belts. The 4-5 players that we need to phase in to the starting 11 I would say are Samaris Tachtsidis Karelis Ninis Fefta ? Get these dudes to 40-50 caps. Next euro we can create a new wave. it's too soon to tell now but diamantakos might be on the list since we'll need a striker.

  20. The older generation is basically already gone, younger fans outnumber greek immigrants at hellas games these days, the ethnic issue has very little relevance today due to the fact that the supporter bases are now 2nd and 3rd generation and don't have the same hardcore edge they once had to them, the rivalries though are historic and will always remain. Hellas supporters now love to brag about the superior head to head record against Heidelberg ( only lost once to them in the last 5 years), these are pure football rivalries. Let's not forget the ethnic rivalries at national level died in 1992 when Preston were relegated, the Nsl had become ethnic rivalry free over a decade before it ended. The rest was all spin, in any case all the violent thugs got to the a league now anyway...but that's fine because they are defending the city they live in or something so that's acceptable violence. The A league die hards carry on like they single handedly invented mainstream soccer, yet my main memories of the 90s was going to bob jane to watch hellas play Perth, Brisbane strikers, northern spirit, parramatta power, Wollongong wolves, carlton etc, surprise surprise no trouble use to occur at these games, yet nowadays a contest between a Sydney and melbourne team can turn the streets into a battleground, I've seen this first hand when the wanderers thugs decided to trash the melbourne cbd on a Saturday afternoon. These same people have the nerve to claim that it's too dangerous for my club to be in the top flight again, a lot of greeks even say this, it's all agenda driven.

  21. PAO have not been 'that team' for a long time...yes the financial situation is not helping....and yes Oly has collected a fair few points in recent years.. but even in crisis times say since 2009..Aris,PAOK, Asteras have managed to collect a lot of points...the demise of PAO and AEK has caused us to slip no doubt... I would not see the 0-3 in Brugge as the end of greek football....Oly beat anderlecht 0-3 in Brussels 22 months ago... If you go over and look at some of the results throughout europe in the last 14 days...you will be scratching your head....and a better man than me if you made any sense of where countries leagues stand or if they are dipping or going up.,....some really bizarre results.

  22. It's certainly not a decline! The league this year is stronger, especially with the addition of aek. Creates another big derby and some extra worthy competition. Panathinaikos have added some great players into the squad, we fell short and were out played by a better team. Yeh it sucks, but realistically speaking none of us expected to be in CL. Take some positives from a negative, this is another competitive game under a belt in the pre season, a good assessment of where players are at, and a good chance for anastasiou to tweak the lineup/formation to suit us. You do realise the second goal we copped was a huge deflection and as well a massive kick in the nuts for the team psychologically.. Karelis with a bit more composure could of had a few, I think there was a penalty that could have been given to berg... Some days these come our way, sometimes they don't. Funny thing is, had all those factors played to our advantage, you wouldn't hear one single complaint in these forums about our team. And every one would have the confidence of a person who just racked 3 lines of coke in his nose that we would be able to beat Man U in the following round. Some of you need to picture the game of football in a more realistic sense. I understand it's frustrating seeing mediocre performances for years, especially when we compare ourselves to many other former years. But fact of the matter is, we are who we are! We will qualify for europa and we will be a lot more ready for the qualifying game!
