The old Pafos coach looks to be in the running if we don’t retain him. Juan Carlos Carcedo.

Didn't he say like a week ago that he's staying? What a shock

The U19 Greek NT defeated Kazakhstan 4:2 in the final qualifying game and finished in 2nd place in the group. This means they will continue in the qualifying competition. Berdos of PAOK scored 2 goals.

Latest reports are that we offered 4 mil to Augsburg, 3 mil + 1 mil in incentive bonuses. It remains to be seen if Augsburg will accept it. It also looks like the chances of Lucescu continuing as a coach of the team are 50/50. I think they need to resolve the coaching matter as soon as possible.

Before everyone says that you need defense to make tournaments… why have we failed to qualify in over 10 yrs for a tournament ? We got results against the big teams in our groups. Spain a couple years ago comes to mind, but you know what costed us? NOT SCORING AND GETTING 3 POINTS AGAINST THE WEAKER TEAMS. Time and time again. In the current expanded euro and World Cup formats we just need second in a qualifying group. That’ means scoring and beating the Lithuania’s, Finland’s, kosovos of the lot. If we lose 4-1 to the pot A team in our group so be it. Better than stealing a draw from a France only to then tie to Gibraltar and lose even more points.

I just don’t think I can agree with this. Yes Mouzakitis and played bad but between him Zaferies we have some young decent midfielders. I’m not saying great, but better than the last 10 years of midfielders. Are they Karagounis level? No but the biggest problem we have is defense. We don’t have the players to revert back to a defensive mindset. Our best defender got relegated in the Prem this year. Tsimakas sometimes plays for Roma, koulorakis may become something but still. We don’t have Socrates, Manolas, torosidis back there. For the first time in our nations history we have attacking creative players. We need a coach that can emphasize that. When you put a kourbelis, bouckalakis, Masouras, Mantalos on the field they make the rest of the creative players around them worse and stifle them. We need to clean house player wise and get a creative coach.

I guess Olympiakos has pulled out of the Giannoulis sweepstakes. He wants to only return to PAOK, but we are hardballing Augsburg. We upped our offer, but still isn't what they want. I'd give 2 mil + incentives if we win the league. Something like 2 mil, which can increase to 3.

We can fire Ivan we can do a lot of things but we have no midfield. We have nobody in the midfield to control the game and or distribute. Greece needs to revert back to defensive tactics and set piece play because they can't hang with anyone on the pitch right now. Don't see anyone in the pipeline either. Discouraging that Greece cannot produce these players. A Tsiartas or Zagorakis would really help the squad right now. Even Fortounis.

Looks like Giannoulis might be heading to Olympiakos. They are apparently offering 1.5 mil more to Augsburg than we are. I don't really think the player is worth the 5 mil that Olympiakos is willing to pay. Also, today Matos and Vierinha had a first meeting with father Savvidis and sons, so I would expect to start hearing solid transfer news from now on. What is interesting though is that there are no mentions of Lucescu's inputs on the transfer matters. It will be interesting to see Lucescu's coopderation with the new team directors.
