Well the Portsmouth fans seem to love Basinas even if the managers don't.

"showed some nice touches but faded"

sums him up really

i feel he plays better when he's not playing twice a week

Yeah I agree, or if he is to play twice a week he should be from on as a sub. In other words he shouldn't be playing more than 90 mins a week. Having said that, apparently the sky sports reporter also claimed that the ball was in the air alot. There was a lot of "head tennis" and "long balls" going on. Basinas is at his best when teams play through him. That's what happened when they faced Coventry.

Basinas has been released by Portsmouth but according to novasports.gr both Basinas and Haristeas are targets of French Ligue 1 team, Arles. At this stage of their careers it would be a very good move for them, particularly Basinas. Haristeas i believe needs to find familiar surrounding to find his goal-scoring touch and form in my opinion. So I think he'd be better off going to Greece or Cyprus

Former Greece midfielder Angelos Basinas is a free agent again after leaving his French club, Arles-Avignon on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old defensive midfielder ended his contract early after criticism levelled at him by the club's new coach Faruk Hadzibegic as well as by the team's fans.

Referring to Basinas, Hadzibegic stated "I do not want such stars. I want players sacrificing themselves for the team, fighting from the very first minute."

The former Panathinaikos, AEK and Portsmouth player had signed a 1+1 year contract.

He got to play in four league games, one of them as a substitute.

Angelos Charisteas remains with Arles, who are at the bottom of the French league table.
