Kerr
The only team i was afraid to face was Holland and now Latvia seems like a joke! :D We've picked the easiest team, there will be no excuses! B)
Irlandos
Latvian football is on the rise but I think it still needs to go a long way to reach the level of Turkish football: no excuses here!
Fenerlondra
Our biggest problem going into this game is over confidence and under estimation. I hope neither will happen and we remain focused on the job at hand...

Fenerlondra
It seems that the NT are still reeling from the Alpay saga. Sure the game is a month away, but not ONE official has commented on the draw. It seems that our focus will remain with resolving this issue for some days to come... Kerr
I believe Alpay must be punished for his shameful act suring the match! There was no need to rise the tension at this match! Rustu blames Alpay for the draw!

Irlandos
Latvija draw first blood against Turkiye: 1-0 thanks to a goal by Verbakovski. Read about it here courtesy of UEFA.com. Turkiye will have to play the return match without 3 more key players who have card troubles...

Icarus
Yes that was disgusting, though with the way Turkey treats it's Islamists, it was going to happen sooner or later.
Fenerlondra
Hey lads...that is really something very sad... what happened yesterday in the City...... and I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy...especially for Kerr , who is leaving in the City....... This is something unacceptable and coward........... Thanks Nightsurfer...As for the game, Latvia's gamesmanship served them well. Their decision to flood the pitch the night Turkiye were going to train and further leave it freeze in the -3'c conditions is little short of genius... Their biggest downfall to me was their lack of ambition to capitalise on Turkiye's 10 men in the last 15 minutes. They chose to sit back and take their 1-0 win. Whether it's enough will remain to be seen...
Go:bekli
In an amazing show of patriotism alp Alpay does everything he can to force the referee to raise a symbolic al bayrak and then he is cricticized for it! To say nothing of Fenerlondra missing the basic meaning of al for the provincial al= fraud, trick, treachery which he attributes to the undoubtedly above suspicion Latvians. nightsurfer
Because the Latvia players did not have valid visas...they had to stay/stand on the queue for 2 hours till all formalities were finished........ Also they have been all snooped by Drug-Dogs... by order of Mr. Haluk Ulusoy (trough the Turkish goverment).....President of the Turkish Football Association. Fenerlondra
So many factors have resulted in this surprise outcome. Underestimation, posts, crossbars, wrong player selection, strange tactics, losing a 2 goal lead etc etc. However, one things for sure and that is that we have maintained history like the 5 previous 3rd placed world cup nations before us... Latvia should be commended for their hunger and disciplined approach if little else in a footballing context... It's gonna be a long Summer... Roll on 2006... Nothing wrong with that...they should be even strickter! If you only knew how badly our NT has been treated when they went to England and Latvia......their bags are always searched by drug-dogs. This was the first time Turkiye did the same. Istanbul guzel Istanbulum!
