Blackhawk
Yianko, OFI had a great team in those days. Even eliminated Atletico Madrid in UEFA Cup.
Yiankos
Yes, I knew that. And Frantzeskos had a great game against us. Unfortunately, they had some great players but some mediocre as well and were not able to challenge the title. And they were not able to keep their great players. Money was always the issue. I would love to see OFI with a solid owner.
pash
Very small market, split between two teams. They'll never be able to sustain themselves to the point where they can build the kind of squad they need to challenge for the title, unfortunately. Size is the name of the game these days. Yiankos
I seriously think Crete could and should have done better. For one, it's more than half a million island. But I guess, the locals are either too crazy or they actually support POK teams. Never really cared about their own teams. Ergotelis or Platanias I don't even consider them teams. pash
A team that theoretically represents the whole island, sure. But even though Ergotelis and Platanias are garbage, they still remain... I've heard more than a few people say that Thessaloniki is too small to support as many teams as it does. Not sure I agree with that, but I do see the point. It seems to me that the best opportunity for growth may be overseas (which thankfully PAOK is very aware of!).
Athens4
Look how stadiums were full with both sets of fans. Even the football was better back then.

BostonThanatos
Lucesco planning on starting Wernbloom in this one, from early reports. Should be interesting to see how he's coming along, especially days before the Chelsea match.
pash
I guess if he really impresses, then he'll see some playing time. I would doubt we'd see him in the EL opener though.
Blackhawk
Reports are that Lucescu is also thinking of using Tosca. If he is in shape I hope he does, because Vierinha did not look like he could play consecutive Saturday/Thursday/Sunday games. Lucescu will need to utilize most of his players, because this will be a tough week, with Chelsea game on Thursday and then the very important game with AEK on Sunday. pash
This is why we have the kind of depth we have. If Tosca doesn't play, and Hatseridi is not actually injured, then I wouldn't be surprised to see Crespo there too. OFI is nothing to fear, and if we are adamant about not starting anyone past the 13-14 usual suspects, then there's no point in having a bench this deep. Speaking of - was Kitsiou sick or hurt or something? I saw a post a few days ago about him being "back to normal," which confused me. He looked good during preseason, he definitely needs to get some playing time soon.

Blackhawk
The two most important games coming up are the OFI and AEK. They are both must win. The Chelsea game on paper is a lost cause. It will not be a disaster if we lose that game. Against OFI the players that are in best form need to start and finish the game early. After that they have 5 days to recuperate. After the Chelsea game there is no time for rest. I would even start 2nd stringers against Chelsea to rest our main players for AEK. My lineup for OFI: ----------------- Paschalakis ---------------- Matos - Varela - Crespo - Vieirinha ------ Mauricio -------- Werbloom ----- Jaba ----------- Biseswar ------- Warda ---------------------- Akpom -------------------

ΑΝΤΕ ΓΑΜΙΣΤΕ ΤΑ ΜΟΥΝΙΑ! That's why it's football Boston. Our "reserves" are way better than OFI's starters and they should win easily. But that's only on paper... To me the game against Panionios should be a BIG bell in everyone's ears. We won, yes, and we should have won 0-2, but in the first half we could be losing easily. We didn't conceive a goal out of luck and opponent's inability. Those games we either finish them in the first twenty minutes, or the opponent starts thinking they can get a result and things can get complicated. For those teams the matches against PAOK has become their chance to shine for a potential transfer. Be sure they will grab the chance if we enter the field as passive as we did in Nea Smirni. And I am not saying OFI scares me, but passive or mediocre PAOK does scare me. For the game I would like to see both Akpom and Karelis getting playing time and I hope for an easy 0-3!
