pash
Matos looked exhausted today. I think he should sit this next one out. Now that Azevedo's gotten his dick wet, I say put Vieirinha there. --Pashalakis-- --Vieirinha--Varela--Crespo--Azevedo-- --Mauricio--Shakhov-- --Campos--Pelkas--Mak-- --Prijovic--
Blackhawk
Sounds like a logical lineup. Specially Matos taking a break.

paokarag4
Surely would have made more sense to rest Matos today in the cup game? I'd play him, we play monday night 3 days break, he only played an hour. Team needs him.
pash
Against Larisa? If Vieirinha isn't good enough to cover that position against that team, then we're not good enough to challenge for the championship.
paokarag4
You're right we should be okay. My issue is more, in a cup game where we had a 2-0 lead and were always gonna counter/ weren't gonna come up against a packed defence (as they were chasing the result) why not rest him then? If we can't hold that result without Matos then we aren't going to be Cup winners either We've become good at opening up packed backline's recently but I would feel much safer having Matos playing and having his presence from set pieces against Larissa who will park the bus and could make it tricky if we don't grab an early goal Can you tell I've been burnt a couple of times by these types of games? pash
Realistically, Lucescu needs to make a decent attempt to win each game - Savvidis (to say nothing of our fans) will demand that. Especially with the added pressure of this winning streak. There's all sorts of possible reasons for why he chose who he chose, but God knows he'll never admit them on camera. For the last game, I doubt Lucescu thought Matos would look as bad as he did (which is not to say he played poorly; he just didn't have the energy we usually see). Had he reason to suspect that, I feel we would have seen someone else in that position. Right now, though, I think he played his hand and *needs* to sit the guy out. Unless the guy's come up with some sort of miracle cure for fatigue, this will be a disaster waiting to happen. Also, if it makes you feel better, if there's anyone I would count on to out-dribble Larisa's packed defense in Matos' absence, it would be Vieirinha. But knowing Lucescu, he'll probably just put Crespo in there out of spite. Maybe more interesting to me is what Azevedo will look like in a game where he's expected to go on offense. Judging by his highlights reel, we might be seeing a Campos-style fighter over there.
Blackhawk
The idiot lawyer/owner of Larisa insists on sitting on the bench during the game. Remember what happened last time we played them - spitting on El Kaddouri. I am sure he is doing this to cause trouble for PAOK considering that he is a puppet for Marinakis and hoping to create turmoil and possible fan ban ahead of our game with Olympiakos. paokarag4
@pash I agree with you. Vierinha will be fine at attacking Larissa. What my issue is that it's not about playing Matos(or any player) until he burns out and turns in a poor performance. There needs to be foresight and better player management. Don't you think 2-0 up going into a 2nd leg playing a more defensive right back Crespo (not ideal but we are short of options at RB) makes sense? Give Matos a breather in a game where we have one foot in the Semis rather than risk dropping points in the title race. Regardless it doesn't matter, whatever the XI is come Monday it's another game we need to win if we are going to go on with this challenge, as you said pash! paokarag4
Glykos in the squad for the first time since his injury. Otherwise no surprises in the 18 man squad.
Bananas
A bit surprised Glykos has been included over Rey. If Paschalakis were to get injured or red carded I’m not sure I’d prefer him over Rey. Oh well I guess we have to trust in Lucescu. I hope this doesn’t affect Rey’s confidence too much. I think he’s a good GK overall that didn’t really do too much wrong this season.
pash
For sure. I think this is a morale thing. Though I can't see us keeping Glykos next season, we can't have three starter level GKs in the squad after all...
Dutch Eagle
Rey costed us the EL. His mistake to make a foul in the corner of the box that led to the penalty for the Swedes. After that he had some mistakes too that did not cost us, but that was the beginning of his end as a keeper at us.
pash
The team had a bad start. I don't blame him much more than I blame the other guys in the squad. Reports are that both Matos and Vieirinha will start tomorrow. Hopefully he doesn't crash and burn in the games that actually matter.
