I think banning Democrats may do the trick!!!

Funny how you volunteer to expose yourself as a fraud.

What would be the purpose of this false flag?

I believe they want to change the amendment where they have the right to bear arms.   If they fake all these mass shootings , they turn around around and say we need gun control etc etc.  eventually taking away the peoples right to bear arms.

Alex Jones, Jim Fetzer , Jim Marrs look them up on youtube with false flags they explain it well.

I'm all for "bare arms".....  in warmer climate of course, because these days, your arms would fall off in the frigid temperatures we're having in the northeast.

Yeah, I find it amazing that there are so many people following the NRA, Alex Jones, etc. The conspiracy is not that the gov wants to take guns away but how the gun manufacturers and their political allies have managed to convince so many Americans that guns equal freedom.

Could religion be a factor for that maybe? Plenty of violence in the good book, and religion does make you feel guilty and dirty about all things sexual and your body.

He was not old enoug to buy booze but guns. No problem.

The US has a big-big problem. We are surrendering to the NRA (National Riffle Association) and the Republican Party. Has nothing to do with religion, nothing to do with constitution - it's all about money, profit and political power. The Republicans get greased by the gun lobby and in turn stifle the US Congress from passing laws that would regulate guns. In return the NRA helps politicians fund their election campaigns. And then you have the intellectually challenged individuals that voted for Trump, that do not understand what the Second Amendment of the US Constitution is about, don't want to know and don't want to discuss.

Cornell Law School has an interesting reference on the Second Amendment and it's interpretations by the US Supreme Court over the years.

And since we're talking about States regulating gun control (my reference to Cornell) this is about Florida:

CNN: You don't need a permit or license to buy a gun in Florida. (And you don't have to register your gun either)

@tantra129 How big is your igloo?

I think you're referring to the old testament which is about fear, punishment and guilt....which at the period when it was created were basic tools for shaping society and creating a more "civilized" civilization in those parts of the world. The fact that many "christian"  churches in the US base their ideologies on the old testament teachings is baffling to me.....tends to show that there is something connecting different aspects of society in the US and driving it in a certain direction. The same way that the left and right have been hijacked and put to work promoting previously unthinkable agendas and both using tactics more in running with fascist beliefs.

All I can say is that everytime a mass shooting takes place in the States you hear the same rhetoric and nothing seems to change which tends to show that the vast majority isn't really interested in initiating that change.....they'd rather lobby for gender fluid washrooms or put their energies into debunking climate change.

Is it ever noted or discussed in the media that these sort of mass shootings only happen in the U.S. ?  Maybe they're so insular that they don't even look at it from that angle ?

The 2nd amendment argument is obviously bogus but has been twisted and abused beyond all recognition.  If it's going to be like that, then people should have the right to their own bazookas, tanks, jet fighters, hell even a "nucelar" (thanks GWB) bomb.  I mean if the government has those weapons, the people need them also ... just in case.  And you know, I wouldn't mind my own nuclear bomb, but I need to get my own republic first.

Seriously, how many shooting will it take ?  This happens 3 or 4 times a year (or it seems that way).

No one is talking about getting rid of guns completely.  It's just about gun c-o-n-t-r-o-l.  If you let any nut job go and buy a gun over the counter, how can this ever stop ?  It won't!  It'll just keep happening, over and over.

I don't really know anything about the NRA but f**k mate, who are they ?  Gods ?  Doesn't anyone in the U.S. have the balls to take them on ?  I don't buy the politics argument, since the states where the NRA has serious influence are Republican strongholds anyway.  So what's the catch ?  C'mon, put up your dukes and take 'em on!  There must be a lot more to this than meets the eye.  Maybe the NRA are like those old guys in the X-files that are really running the show ...

Watch Trump and his cronies (Session) using this as an excuse to batter the FBI for failure to act.

I'm not being funny but if the FBI had to react to everyone  displaying the shooters behavior: desire to kill people, erratic behavior and bizarre social media posts. They'd have to incarcerate half the US population!

Oh and BTW the NRA were doing tweets for Valentines Day telling lovers they should buy each other a gun for a gift! That was swiftly deleted after this latest massacre.

For the record the UK's last ever mass shooting at a school was the Dunblane Massacre in 1996,. Following that hand gun private ownership was banned. There have been no more mass shootings at a school since.

A reference on CNN:  Why the NRA is so powerful on Capitol Hill, by the numbers

...So why does the group hold such sway? Partly because more than half of congressional incumbents have gotten money and organizational help from the group, with many members having long-standing financial relationships with the NRA that date back years....

The NRA has gotten tons of money from the gun manufacturers (whose interests represents in reality), and has spent lavishly through the Political Action Committees. Plus their members vote. Plus, they employ lots of lobbyists.

Yet, things may be changing. For the first time in my memory big companies are severing their ties to the NRA, and there seems to be a continuing movement for gun control. This also may the year NRA-backed candidates (and the Repub party) suffer big loses in the Nov. elections, not necessarily because of this issue alone, but the message may be loud and clear: we need sensible gun control.

On the federal side, I don't see any serious federal laws as long as Trump is president and Repubs control the Senate.

Today there was a high school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas. At least 8 dead, possibly more.

Perpetrator was 17 year old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a student at the school. There are Facebook photos of his circling around the internet which show a jacket he owned with communist sickle, german cross, and Cthulu pins.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but I sure know it isn't "thoughts and prayers"

Sadly the only way this will *maybe* change is if there are a series of mass shootings one after the other.

Santa Fe is only 36 miles south of Houston. I know who Dimitrios Pagourtzis is. He was part of a dance group for the Greek Orthodox Church in Clear Lake. He was known to be a quiet individual. I could never imagine he would ever do such evil things. It's very scary to know someone and ends up committing crimes like this. He will get the maximum sentence and will rot in prison forever. Death penalty may not be out of the question. After all, it is Texas.

      Friends,
It's been a week since the US general election, and a new page in American politics has started. Let's put the other thread to rest, because it escalated into personal attacks, so let's respectfully discuss the new president's tenure and related matters here.
Let's remind ourselves that the point of this forum is to welcome a diversity of people and ideas, and to have a good time, even when we disagree with others; and, it'll be fun, because we'll be having a civilized discussion, right?...
So, president-elect Trump....  We'll be watching but who can say what he'll actually do? How do you judge his first moves and statements?

Pentagon Officials Allowed Workers to Use Government Credit Cards at Strip Clubs

The initial 2015 audit discovered that workers spent nearly $100,000 at various strip clubs and related adult-oriented establishments, which kinda sounds like nothing when compared with the estimated $1 million spent at casinos. As for how exactly such charges are allowed to exist, the report's findings suggest that Defense Travel Management Office officials and DoD management did not properly explain how the travel cards should be used. Furthermore, DoD officials were not adequately trained on how to discipline those found to have misused the cards. For the complete rundown, read the full report right here.
