I don't think that is the final list. Baniotis and Kyriazis are battling injuries and might not be able to take part. They will not compete at the Greek championships this weekend.

Damn, I was looking forward to see the Texas A & M student in javelin throw!
Your right though, there is a reserve list of Greek athletes who will be in Lille, I just didn't have the time to post them.

Today we had qualifying rounds in some  of the events.

Unfortunately we missed qualifying to the finals in men's 400 and 400 meter hurdles, which means we will receive only two points for the standings.

Both Stefanidi and Papachristou won their respective events to give Greece maximum 11 points (22 points total).
Surprisingly, Kyriazis finished 2nd in men's javelin throw outdueling Olympic Champion Rohler to grab 10 points.
I seriously think Kyriazis has serious potential to be one of the top javelin throwers in the world.

On another surprising result, in women's discus throw Anagnostopoulou finished 3rd behind Robert-Michon and Muller for 9 points.

Tsakonas finished 4th in the 100m finals, good effort from him. I would expect him to win the 200m.

In a stunning upset, Maria Belibasaki won the women's 200m!!! Bravo!!!

Too bad the timing mechanism failed. She would have been close to breaking the Greek record in the event.

I know! They officially gave her 22.76, on the European Athletics website, it said 22.6-. We were hoping she broke the Greek national record.

And also thanks to the fact that Russia was not allowed to compete. Otherwise we would be going down as well.

Let's keep this in mind, Greece need to produce more top athletes by training outside of Greece, especially in the United States.

Agreed. There are quite few already.

Don't know what happened to Alexi Pappas and why she is not competing these days. She could really helped us in the middle distance events. I hope she did not become a Greek citizen just to compete in the 2016 Olymoics.

European Athletics announced that 2019 will be the last time the SUPER LEAGUE will contest of 12 countries. By 2021, they will reduce the number of nations competing in the SUPER LEAGUE to 8. Bottom 5 nations in Bydogszcz, Poland will be relegated to the FIRST LEAGUE. So in order for Greece to remain in the SUPER LEAGUE, they have to finish at least 7th place, which is going to be a tall task.
