Not an easy draw, and they seem to be hot this year sitting pretty at the top of the table in Turkey up four points from 2nd. It will take an inspired effort from players and staff to knock them out, would be a sweet coup.

Speaking of Besiktas, you guys seen the wife of Serbian defender who plays for the Turks Dusko Tosic?

bestikas had the lion's share of chances and possession. shame that they scored on a foolish mistake.

would've been nice to go into turkey with a lead.

still a good chance oly can go through.

they also got queresma tho.

Besiktas totally dominated, this was a good result for Olympiakos when you consider the stats, it would have been amazing if they'd managed a clean sheet, I don't fancy their chances next week. On a positive note it's great to see Retsos and Manthatis play 90 minutes, no reason why they and Androutsos shouldn't get a call up from Skibbe.

The problem is we were chasing the ball around even before they scored, we were gonna fade the longer the game went, by the last 10-15 minutes it didn't even look like we were on the field.  They grinded us down. It honestly looked like we were the away team for the Most part, could not string 2 passes together.

This is the worst I've seen Olympiakos play. They played very sluggish and continuously losing possession. Cambiasso was the culprit. Romao should not play again. Retsos would of done a better job as a CDM. Retsos did well but was unfortunate to close down on the goal. Kapino needs to come back. This was also Fortounis worse game. He couldn't do anything special and was losing possession. Androutsos should have played. Things need to change as this is not the same Olympiakos from 5 years ago. No heart, boring and very sluggish.

Kapino is injured...

This was the best possible team we could put on the park..given how poor the squad is..

Way too much hype about Retsos, Androutsos, Manthatis....they are very young and very promising....but none are going to carry us through a European tie at this level at this point of their careers...

I have seen it all before with 'young Greek talent'....Where are Tsimikas, Lykogiannis, Diamantakos, Ioannidis, Vergos, Soelidis, Galitsos, Avlonitis, Fetfa etc???

Galitsios has done well and played consistently in Belgium, not sure that Diego Figueiras is that much better, Lykogiannis is doing very well in Austria is Aly Cissokho that much better? Tsimaks is still very young and promising and playing regularly in Denmark but I don't think any of the players you mentioned played as much first team football as Retsos at the age of 18.

Retsos Androutsos and Manthatis are all capable of playing at this level and if they're not given minutes they'll never be able to carry you through a European tie.

All those guys are  young and inexperienced but it boils down to having poor academies and foot ball culture. Look at Croatia smaller country but produces top players that get transferred to big teams. In Greece too many people love to fanatically watch soccer instead of play at a youth level.... and the youth development is not there or the infrastructure to play and nurture talent.

Back to the game Besiktas is a very average team with exception of one or two players so if we actually play with heart anything is possible second leg... but this teams form has been poor just ask Bento :P
