Antaeus7
Shocking, Papachristou only manage to finish at 13.75 and miss the finals. Her form has looked poor lately.
Antaeus7
Crazy finish at the men's 100m final, Justin Gatlin just beat Usain Bolt to grab the gold, his fellow American Christian Coleman got silver, Bolt finished his career with bronze. The result time Gatlin 9.92 Coleman 9.94 Bolt 9.95 Edited August 6, 2017 by Molon Lave
Antaeus7
This is a surprise Irini Vasiliou finished 2nd in women's 400m heat behind (52.61) behind Allyson Felix to go to the semifinals. She started the race strong and finished well. She will need that in the next round.

Antaeus7
The only other Greek who could bring us a medal is Ioannis Kyriazis, that is if he can qualify for the finals. He did qualify in a major senior event in the 2016 European Championship at Amsterdam. Edited August 6, 2017 by Molon Lave

Antaeus7
On Wednesday, Haido Alexouli is competing in the women's long jump for qualification. She will need to jump better than 6.78 (her personal best) to get in. Mihail Anastasakis will be in group B for the men's hammer throw qualification. Keep in mind that recently in Nikiti at the Greek Championship, he threw a personal best 77.72. He has somewhere between 30-50% chance to qualify for the finals. 75.50 is the automatic qualification spot and that is a tall order. In the men's 200m semifinals, Tsakonas will have his hands full as he races with guys like Wayde Van Niekerk, Christophe Lemaitre, and Ramil Guliyev. He must fight for second place in order to go to the finals. Edited August 8, 2017 by Molon Lave

Antaeus7
Tomorrow, women's high jump qualifying. Tatiana Gousin will be competing in her first ever World Championships. Men's javelin throw qualifying : Ioannis Kyriazis will be in group B. He will once again compete against two guys (Rohler and Vadlejch) from the European Teams Championship. Also, women's 200m semifinals, a difficult draw for Maria Belibasaki as she's going up against Marie-Josse Ta Lou, Dina Ashe-Smith. It's possible she could finish 3rd in this race and qualify for the top 2 time. Edited August 9, 2017 by Molon Lave
Blackhawk
As is common with most Greek athletes competing at high level competitions, when it comes perform their best and at least exceed or come close to their best marks, they fail miserably. Alexouli could not even jump over 6 meters. Tsakonas who skipped 100m so he could be ready for the 200m ran a disappointing 20.73 in the semifinal. Does not look like Anastasakis will come close to the qualifying mark (75.50m) either. He barely threw over 70m in his first two tries. I don't expect any better in tomorrow's competitions. Maybe Kyriazis will surprise us.
Antaeus7
Kyriazis will have to perform like he did in Lille. The automatic qualifying mark is 83 m and he is capable of achieving this. We wish him luck tomorrow. Edited August 9, 2017 by Molon Lave

Antaeus7
Gousin is terrible, can't jump over 1.89. Belibasaki didn't make the finals, finished 5th in the race. Better effort than Tsakonas.

Blackhawk
Good luck to Kyriazis, but unless he beats his PB of 88.01m he stands no chance of getting a medal. After that the only Greek athletes competing will be our walk racers in 20 km (men and women) on Sunday.
