Panthrakikos is currently up 1-0 vs Panathinaikos, with half the match played. A loss for PAO will leave us in second place by 1 point. A draw, will keep as at third place (on goal differential).

There are a few more match weeks left. We can still hope to gain enough points on them that we end up with an extra point to start the play offs with. Although I think it would require three consecutive losses on their part (and wins for us) for that to happen.

The main thing is to keep as big distance from the 5th place team, so we get as many points as possible in the playoffs. If the playoffs started today we would have 2 points, same as Panathinaikos. Unless Panathinaikos self-destructs we will have the same points going into the playoffs.

What other teams do we want in the playoffs? I would prefer PAS Giannina over Atromitos. Looks like Tripoli is losing form. They are losing 4:0 at Veroia.

Looks like the Greek referees might strike this weekend. They have announced that if the investigations involving refs does not end they will not show up for the games.

In other Greek football news, the Greek government is going ahead with new laws concerning football in particular and sports in general. if it is voted in current form, UEFA and FIFA will expel Greek teams from all international competition. Olympiakos is already putting pressure on the parliament not to vote for this law in its current form. Panathinaikos who has been advocating string measures seems to be changing their stance, with Alafouzos saying that he will leave the team if Greek teams are expelled from Europe.

In the play-off for Champions League, the four qualified teams play each other in a home and away round robin. However, they do not all start with 0 points. Instead, a weighting system applies to the teams' standing at the start of the play-off mini-league. The team finishing fifth in the Super League will start the play-off with 0 points. The fifth placed team's end of season tally of points is subtracted from the sum of the points that other teams have. This number is then divided by five.

I do not mind the opponents. We are PAOK. Mostly the biggest opponents are ourselves.

The play-off begins after the cupfinal (17th of May, 2015). If gavros win the cup all participants will enter Europe. Otherwise only three out of the four. I do not know if all clubs will get a European licence. Last year PAS was denied a licence.

How many times was the SL interupted this year anyway?

Looks like the refs changed their mind and the games will go on.

In other Greek soccer corruption news, several people were called by the prosecutor to explain themselves concerning the Olympiakos - Veroia (3:0) game from last season. Allegedly at half-time while the score was 0:0, an unnamed Veroia official came to the Veroia dressing room and told the players that the game has to finish 3:0 in favor of Olympiakos.

Of interest is the fact that at half time bets for 3 million Euro were placed for the exact score.

In other news today PAS Giannina and Panthrakikos failed to win their appeal in order to receive a license to play in the Superleague. As a result of this ruling if PAS Giannina finishes in 5th place they will not be allowed to play in the playoffs.

It's due to finances. This license was for next season, but also counts for the current playoffs.

Instead of the team not being able to compete next season, they will probably be allowed to play, but not be able to make transfers like the teams did this season. Same goes for Panthrakikos and Panionios.
