Or at least some assists. What you see is what you get with Samaris, not a world beater but a great distributer nonetheless.

I have been disappointed with this player at NT level since the WC.

For Benfica he plays so deep, he is usually just 2-3 meters in front of Luisao - hence no goals or assists.

with the ethniki he is has pretty poor and looks very slow , however with benfica its almost the other way around and he plays good for them. he always plays as dm right before the cb's and isnt going forward alot. that works very well with benfica.

last week i read some articles that valencia is eyeing some benfica players including samaris.

won 4-0 yesterday against penfiel. after they where 4-0 in front he managed to get another yellow card after he got into a fight with someone or so and now he is banned for the next match. how stupid can you be , only 2 matches left and almost champion. this was his 12th yellow this season! plus also 3 in the CL so 15 in total. he got subbed off in the 74th minute.

Getting so many cards is either a sign he's not fit/quick enough for that standard or that he's got a bad temperament.

Now I don't think he's out of his depth so I have to question his attitude. Getting so many cautions is silly. I don't remember him being so combative in the Greek league.

Played again last night. Full 90 mins. A great result this season IMO after looking shaky early he has cemented his place in top notch European side.

yeah he started and got subbed off in the 77th minute when it was 2-2. benfica lost 2-3 and samaris conceded a penalty. looked like benfica played with their a-team against a psg b-team.

Not sure he was the one that gave the penalty away. There was 2 Benfica players in the tackle and I thought it was the other guy who brought the PSG guy down.

I watched a lot of the match. Samaris was very good. He's range of passing is very impressive. Not sure who the guy playing for the Ethniki is.

It was a friendly and PSG were essentially playing a B team. No Zlatan or the South American Internationals.

Samaris is a great distributer, even for the Ethniki. Katsou used to cop it for lack of movement off the ball as well but I guess as a DM that's what happens.

Well successive coaches have not been able to teach the Greek NT how to pass & move. ATM it is still pass - watch your pass as it tries to reach its destination. When it finally arrives - shout instructions at the the player who received it.

Yes in my opinion the Ethniki set up and player selections don't allow our defense and defensive anchors in midfield like Samaris the ease of performing like they do for their clubs.

Samaris is not the same player for the Ethniki because we invite opposition pressure and can't transition to attack the way a well set up team like Benfica does.

So what do you think we should do to make players like Samaris perform.

He got minutes at Benfica but I never heard reports he was playing well, just that he was playing. They were the league's best team by a fair bit, to me he seems like a passenger, influences the game very little, he doesn't score goals nor provide assists, and that's okay, but you don't see him laying tackles either, what is his role? All I can see is that you can rely on him to play the percentages and keep the ball. I think he would've been a passive player in a lineup that was already good enough to win the title.

Yeah nah, if he's no good he wouldn't have been playing like earlier in the season. He forced his way into the team and kept his position. You are assuming he was no good for them on the basis of what?
