The future of Cypriot football was looking pretty bleak. The "golden generation" that so nearly qualified for a European Championships and gained other famous results, are aging or retired. With so many foreigners in Cyprus now the younger generation aren't getting a chance at their clubs and so young talents aren't really being developed. So it looks like the Cypriot national team is aiming for the old tactic of signing mercenaries! Helio Pinto (APOEL, Portuguese), Vincent Laban (Anorthosis, French), and Dossa Junior (AEL, Brazilian) are all set to be gain Cypriot nationality.

That will certain the strengthen the Cypriot squad (but does raise questions about the morality of it. I mean there are Cypriot kids that have dreamed of playing for Cyprus since they were kids and a bunch of players that have been there for a few years could take their places).

Additionally, Arsenal's Nicos Yennaris (half Chinese, half Cypriot) has just signed a new contract. Cyprus should approach him now, same with Andros Townsend (also half Cypriot, of Spurs)

That should be interesting, thanks for the heads up.

Did you actually see the game mate? How did Cyprus play?

Pretty even game. Easily could have gone the other way. I was shocked to see Vincent Laban and Dosa Junior. It really reflects a new direction for the Cyprus NT.
