mangas21 Posted June 17, 2010 Share Posted June 17, 2010 the sad part is otto thinks the world is black and white, and either you play offensive :kaka, messi" style or you play ten guys in the back.... italy has been playing defensively for ages...swiss have not conceded a goal in decades, slovenia needs a goal they get it, etcetcetc did the 04 team play "attractive football?" when needed a gaol they got it....there is ahuge difference between what this team lacks (which is the ABILITY to chase the game if they have to) and what it needs. otto has killed their spirit by imposing this defensive scheme without A N Y considerqtrion or flexibilty to be able to adjust and play more aggresively when they need to score.....conversely, if we eat one then, by otto's logic, we are dead.... offensive soccer does not mean freewheeeling, open open play..it means noticing open spaces, off the ball tactics, clever runs where the openings exist......you dont need fantastic dribbling skills or messi/ronaldo type magic - you simply need players who are smart, oppotunistic, heads in the game,.... samaras in ukraine was a perfect example - but why did it happen? instantneous communication between him and salpi - he knew samara would see him and make the play....when the team and the forwards know that midfield is nowwhere to be found, why will they even attempt any thing? otto has to go.....even if they win today, he still has to go....u cant play international soccer and be able to get a shot on goal......he ignores this alltogether..
