GERMANY!

Portugal has a strong midfield with bad strikers, and a decent defense (as a unit, individually very good players) Germany will be stronger than Czech, and braver than Turkey (Turkey had no courage or beleif in their portugal game at all) and they can do it.

Unlike Aek66, I'm not too excited about this. I think it'll be a boring 1-1 with Portugal winning on pens (yes I am betting against Germany on pens! :P )

Tomorrow's game promises to be amazing, this one I'm not so sure about.

Germany is much better on the ball, and had a bad last 10 mins where Gomes scored a lucky crap goal.

Hope to see Germany reenergized and finish this game....

Germany belongs in the final vs Holland so we can have an all time CLASSIC rivalry of two great teams...

Portugal have tried to do things so far and Germany defended rather deep and tried to exploit the Portuguese defence with counters, in which they were quite successful (see. 1st goal)..

I still think Portugal will at least tie the game and we'll go on for an ET..

Germany 3-2 Portugal

Clever play by the Germans as they defended deep and denied the skillful Portuguese any space behind the defence.

They knew their only chance to score was from counter attacks and set pieces that was what they exactly capitalised on (many thanks to Ricardo here!)

I know the Portugal haters here would now jump on the wagon and celebrate as if Greece won :) but I've gotta admit I really hated the unsportsmanlike play by Ballack & Lehmann in particular.. Everybody calls Ronaldo a diver (which is right to some extent) but Ballack was very like him especially after the third goal..

And finally, I'm going to cast a little prophecy here and say the winner of tomorrow's game (Croatia v Turkey) will play in that Final in Wien next week (that's what should happen for the sake of good football, at least)..

And if it's yet another Germany - Italy or some sort of defensive crap v defensive crap final, I'll be really annoyed.. Because the group stages have promised so much except 1 or 2 dull games..

Germany plays a lot prettier than Portugal when they have the ball to be honest, find space, advance and make smart decisions........

That first Schweinsteiger goal was one of the best of the tournament, all the 1-2 combos brilliant cross, run and finish....

But finally, GOOD BYE PORTUGAL

and even better, all ahead for the Germany-Holland final !!!

Poor Poor Portugal

Looks like Portugal have their problems with the Germans. In the last 3 tournaments, Portugal has lost to Germany twice and to Otto Rehhagel's Germanic defensive system twice, not including an exhibition loss. I thought Portugal would win based on form and rest but it goes to show that Germany can never be understimated.

Ronaldo is crying yet again

Germany was the better team, thats that. Portugal have some great midfielders, but their defense, their strikers are overated......Germany is much more balanced across the field and strong everywhere......defense looked a bit lost on the portugal goals, but overall they did enough to get the win.

HISTORY IS REPEATING ITSELF once again.

Germany comes up big when it counts.

Portugal keeps the title of the major tounament chockers, for at least another 2 years. Who knows maybe they will realize that this goalie has now cost them some major games.
