Evergreen
PAO's European Campaign Champions League Day 1 Manchester United 5 Panathinaikos 0 A shocking night for the club, where PAO was lucky(!!!) to only lose 5-0. Sir Alex, threw 3 youngsters in during the second half with a crucial league game against Arsenal in mind, that was to follow 4 days later. The Fans 1 The Fans 2 The Fans 3 Day 2 Panathinaikos 1 Glasgow Rangers 1 Another poor performance by PAO who only salvaged a point in the 88th minute. PAO though, did show heart fighting back after being left to play with 10 players with Goumas being sent off in the 55th minute with 2 yellow cards. Konstantinidis saves the day with an equaliser at the death! The fans 1 The fans 2 The fans 3 The fans 4 Day 3 VFB Stuttgart 2 Panathinaikos 0 Another poor performance by the Greens, losing 2-0 from the first half, Panathinaikos was so bad that they only troubled the Germans a couple of times from long distance. Day 4 Panathinaikos 1 VFB Stuttgart 3 Panathinaikos were the best team until they scored in the 69th minute, but after that, the defence went to sleep for some reason (Shum has great blame here) and the Germans ran rampant in the last 20 mins to score 3 goals!!! Konstantinou opens the score, 1-0 The fans 1 The fans 2 The fans 3 Day 5 Panathinaikos 0 Manchester United 1 Panathinaikos played for a draw in this game and was punished at the end by Diego Forlan scoring United's winner in the 82nd min. PAo tried in this game but was inferior even to United's reserve team. The fans 1 The fans 2 The fans 3 Day 6 Glasgow Rangers 1 Panathinaikos 3 A Panathinaikos that its fans had a while to see turned up just after Ranger's went ahead in the scoring. PAO replied immediately and then took control of the game scoring another 2 goals. This performance came straight from the Green's "European Nights Specials", which has ever since given hope that PAO xcan actually achieve things this season. This came down largely to Epale's performance off the bench in the 2nd half where he terrorised "the Gers" with his pace. With this result PAO managed to qualify for the UEFA CUP where they will face Auxerre of France. Raimondas Zutautas blasts home after Munch's hard work on the left flank to make it 1-1 Basina's missile from 35 metres gives PAO lead 1-2!!! Konstantinou calmly slots the ball home after Epale's threaded pass to make it 1-3 UEFA CUP 3rd Round 1st Leg Auxerre 0 Panathinaikos 0 A game where Auxerre was on top but could not get past the sturdy Panathinaikos defence. Kapo was sent of for a violent tackle in the 65th minute. 2nd Leg PAO 0 Auxerre 1 A shambolic PAO bowed out of Europe to a superior team Auxerre mainly because of the coaching incompetence of Yitzak Shum. PAO 's Europeam campaign this year can only be deemed as a FAIL.
