evalagoal
Carlos Pavon signs with Los Angeles Galaxy CARSON, California (AP) - Carlos Pavon signed with the goal-starved Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday ahead of David Beckham's mid-July arrival. One of Honduras' top scorers, Pavon is signed through this season with the Galaxy, who are 2-4-3 and have just 11 goals in nine games. The contract also includes three one-year options. Financial terms were not disclosed. Pavon has 41 goals in 67 games for Honduras. Four of those goals came June 13 in a 5-0 victory over Cuba in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. "He's a true goal poacher, and I think we have one of the best in the business now," Galaxy coach Frank Yallop said. "One of his strengths is his great movement in the box. Carlos is one of the best in the game at converting crosses." Pavon is looking forward to playing with Beckham, a skilled passer. "As a forward, you have to take advantage of players with David's quality," Pavon said. "It's important to learn how he plays and to make the right movements to exploit his passing and vision." Pavon won three league championships with Real Espana of Honduras and one with Mexico's Necaxa, and was named Honduras' player of the year in 2000. Pavon began his career in 1995 and spent most of it in Mexico and Honduras. He played with Spain's Real Valladolid in 1995 and with Italy's Udinese and Napoli from 2001-
